I'm trialing V12.3.4 FSD right now and come to realize that the FSD visualization is just too good to be true to be done in real-time by the cameras on the vehicle. Here are a list of things that made me think that the visualization is a hybrid of what the cameras see and what's been premade...
Is it me or V12.3.3 / 2024.3.10 doesn't display the blindspot camera during lane changes about 1 out of 10 times? How am I supposed to 'Supervise' if it's not showing my blindspots.
And one time it changed lane without a turn signal.
V12.3 ran a red light this morning, luckily no one was around. I cancelled the FSD after crossing the intersection but it didn't ask me for feedback, it probably realized it fcked up lol. Is there a way to report a problem with FSD without using the brake or cancel command?
We have on ramp...
My 2023 Model Y have always been set to 'Advanced' Update and I went from 2024.2.7 to 2024.3.6 without having to touch 2024.8.X. I always thought the system version number goes like: Year.Month.SubVersion, so 2024.8.X should've been an August update?
I bought my Model Y a year ago so it looks like it's for all owners right now. Though I've never tried or subscribed to FSD before.
The trial activation email was sent after the 2024.3.6 was installed so there's no opt in. I came from 2024.2.7, the update notification just popped up last night.
First time using FSD with the one-month trial that's being given out on 2024.3.6. I have some observations after a 30 mile morning commute:
No taillight visualization? I watched some of the FSD videos where they showed FSD visualization showing brake lights and turn signals on other vehicles. I...
Got 2024.3.6 last night on my 2023 Model Y and this morning there's a notification on the car to turn FSD on.
I also gotten an email this morning saying my trial have already started before I even woke up, so I think it starts once the update is installed.
The Archille's heel is this fully exposed switch for the latch activation. It's right next to the latch opening and not protected at all.
Credit to JohnnyRuz for the photo.
I think the issue is that due to poor Tesla design, water would pool around the frunk latch area. Sooner or later the water would get onto the latch motor assembly and only time will tell if that'll cause havoc.
This is awesome, we have the Defender on our Subaru and after 50K miles it looks like it can go another 50K. Road noise wasn't great but that could also due to it being a Subaru...
Model Y Long Range doesn't have a Sport mode. Tesla could also change the accelerator response to get better efficiency if you are light on the pedal. So there's more to it than that.
One time my Model Y AC is blowing warm air when it's 100F outside and Autopilot computer also malfunctioned. Restarting the computer with the wheel buttons didn't help but shutting down the entire car for 10 mins did seem to fix the issue.
Pretty concerning though, hopefully it's nothing permanent.
You guys might think I'm losing my mind but hear me out. It seems like my Basic Autopilot (Never had FSD) can recognize turn signals of other vehicles. In the drive today a vehicle in the right adjacent lane had their signal to coming to my lane and Basic Autopilot braked hard. It happened again...
Green just tweeted a few days ago that HW4 on the Model Y has half the RAM and storage compared to HW3. Are they planning to optimize the FSD code to the point that it'll be using significantly less RAM?
I wish Tesla adds an audible chime when you turn on the turn signal when someone is in your blind spot. The 3D visualization already highlights the car in red so why not just add the option for a chime? I know there's a collision warning chime but that only works if you are about to hit them.
I...
Do people not look at the estimated battery left given by the navigation system? There are so many variables it's difficult to give a one size fit all range estimate, the navigation system range estimate is about as close as you can get.
Most cars (ICE or EV) won't get their rated efficiency...
Is anyone else's Legacy Autopilot Cut In detection getting really paranoid recently? In the past month or so it would brake if the vehicle in the next lane showed a slight hint of coming into your lane. Most false braking event is triggered when a vehicle is merging into the lane next to me...
Does anyone know their logic for Tower Credit union requiring $500 deductible for comprehensive and collision? I'm thinking about raising my deductibles to $1000 since Tower is not verifying it.
Most aftermarket mudflaps have a tapered edge which means it doesn't really prevent tire spray. The OEM mudflap has a straight edge which probably offers more protection.
Do you guys use a socket extension when torquing the nuts with a torque wrench? I find that with a longer impact socket, the wrench handle is still really close to the wheel that I have trouble wrapping my hand around the wrench handle.
I wouldn't bother after hearing all the horror stories. One guy on Reddit had one of the two strut stuck so when he opened the hood it lifted one side and bent his hood.
As a driver that shares the road with people like you, I'm glad it's forced on. For example it can be pretty hard to see other cars during heavy rain if they have their lights off.
What's even more annoying is when it does this on Tesla loaner vehicles. Now the next person getting the loaner knows where you live. Tesla owners make good targets for break ins due to typically having higher income.
Many people don't realize that your taillights are also off when your headlights are off. When your headlights are on your taillights are on 'dim' mode to help other drivers see you from behind even when you are not slowing down. DRL isn't going to help with your rear visibility.
One morning...
You can set up your charging schedule so that it finishes charging at the time you leave in the morning. This way the battery is already warm/preconditioned from charging.
Glow in the dark stickers? Tape a keychain flashlight to your charger handle. Use hand to find it by feel.
Insert joke about not being able to find the hole.
I didn't know you can disable auto-dimming. Will need to do that once I tint my windows.
You can probably simulate the rear light sensor with the backup camera.
Because Long Range has 330 EPA miles of range while Performance has 303 miles of range. If you do the math they both takes identical amount of time to charge (10.7 hours).
Since the stock glass already have good UV and IR rejection rates would it be better to get non-ceramic tint for the front side windows? I drive north/south during my commute and always get sun hitting from the drive side window. But I'm afraid to get the infamous ceramic low angle haze.
2023.12.9 update here and connects to my phone's hotspot fine. If you want to have Tesla connect to your hotspot automatically then you'll have to stop using your home WiFi. Then it'll connect to the first WiFi it sees which is your hotspot. There's really no point using home WiFi unless you...
