Regarding the initial questions on this thread, I finally found a real life version of that carved out area on the front grill of a new model X by the T logo. what vin changed grey color
I still can’t tell which color my late December P85D is shown in the top photo. Below are more recent greys. Doesn’t look like dolphin or steel / midnight to me.
