    Supercharger - Mildura, Vic

Definitely agree. The old v2's in Bendigo are often busy as well, so another site closer to the Calder makes a lot of sense. Ballarat got the Lucas site, so I guess there is hope of something similar happening in Bendigo. Or even maybe a new site in Kyneton would allow skipping Bendigo all...

    Supercharger - Mildura, Vic

Looks like it will be the loneliest Supercharger in mainland Australia (hmm, maybe Bowen QLD is actually). I expect to see more sites pop up linking this to Adelaide and Bendigo, and something before Hay NSW too.

    Superchargers in Australia

Mildura is part of the new round still. Not sure if it's an error.

    Superchargers in Australia

Looks like a new round of Supercharger voting has started. I didn't catch the results of the last round, but Mildura is still there, so must not have made the top 5. I'm not seeing any new sites available for voting in Victoria. Can anyone spot any in other states? I'll be holding onto my...

That's assuming those 300 people didn't also vote for them.

    Supercharger - Corio (Geelong), Vic

That would make a lot of sense. Also servicing the Bellarine.

    Supercharger - Corio (Geelong), Vic

If Ballarat can get 2 Superchargers, then I don't see why Geelong can't. Any ideas on the demand/usage of the Corio Supercharger? The few times I've been there it's been pretty quiet - myself and maybe 1 or 2 others.

    New Geelong Supercharger incoming?

    Evie EV charging networks

I've been stuck in that carwash queue a few times - didn't realise I should enter via the 'No Entry' section. Good to know!

    Superchargers in Australia

I haven’t been there myself, but it is showing in the app, including a reduced number of stalls indicating usage. There is also check ins on PlugShare. Ahh Keith…watch out for that gutter.
  11. L

    Supercharger - Stawell, Vic

Agreed. Now that Stawell is taking load off Horsham, the bottleneck is Keith (arguably was even more of a bottleneck than Horsham). If they get a 6+ stall supercharger up and running in Nhill or Kaniva (or maybe Bordertown), then the Melb to Adelaide route will be fairly fortified for the...

    BYO cable

I believe at the neighbourhood level they use split-phase. America being weird as usual.
  13. L

    BYO cable

To give a counter experience - I've been using my 5m cable for about 2 years and not once have I ever wished it was longer. Usually I'm left wondering what to do with the excess slack.
  14. L

    BYO cable

Yeah I see. The description also mentions its only 20A capable (despite 32A being in the title and photo). The price is also too good to be true. Avoid.
  15. L

    BYO cable

Got a link? Sometimes those sellers offer multiple product variations on the same listing, so the photos can be misleading. I purchased one from eBay for very rare use, and it was 3 phase as expected.

    Supercharger - Kilmore, Vic

Fair enough. I guess for 90% of Melbournians they would be going Calder, though up through Kilmore would definitely be a nicer drive!
  17. L

    Supercharger - Kilmore, Vic

Echuca but definitely not Bendigo. You would be on the Calder for that. It’s a good spot for me as it’s on the way to the Hume for me. Probably a good stop on my way back from up north on the Hume.
  18. L

    Supercharger - Stawell, Vic

Definitely. Keith will now become the weak link in the route. Especially being v2.
  19. L

    Supercharger - Stawell, Vic

My point was more that the Stawell supercharger makes skipping Ballarat/Lucas completely a viable option, depending on where in Melb/Vic your destination is.

    Superchargers in Australia

Jeez Tesla have been doing a good push before the end of the year. 3 locations opened in the last 2 days! I'm guessing they want to avoid as much holiday-queuing as possible by fast tracking what they can.
  21. L

    Supercharger - Stawell, Vic

Sure is. Makes the Lucas Supercharger even more confusing.
  22. L

    Supercharger - Stawell, Vic

I guess my post in the Horsham thread yesterday caused this. You’re welcome.

    Supercharger - Horsham (VIC)

I did a Melb->Adel trip a couple of months ago over a random weekend. The chargers were at capacity both times (but no 4th car waiting). Horsham is ripe for overbuilding - anyone heard anything? I'm concerned about my next trip, especially if it lands on a long weekend.

Supercharger - Melbourne (Hawthorn East), Vic

Another eastern suburbs supercharger! This is getting a bit ridiculous. Moonee Ponds literally holding up 1/3rd of the city.
  25. L

    Supercharger - Bairnsdale, Vic

Moe and Cann River both have 3, do doing more than that kinda makes those sites more of a bottleneck. But yeah future proof and all that.

Best advice I can give is to watch out for the gutters in Keith SC. Those cost me thousands...
  27. L

    Evie EV charging networks

I would stop in to check out its availability, and skip it to Horsham if needed. Just gives an alternative to the often-queued Horsham SC. I'm able to skip Ballarat and still reach Horsham in my SR+ as I live west of Melb.
  28. L

    Evie EV charging networks

That could be a useful location when driving from Melb to Adelaide. Can probably skip Ballarat (depending on where in Melb you are coming from) and then skip the 3-stall Horsham site and go straight to Keith.

Gen3 wall charger, 3-phase install question

I'm not too sure. My sparky put in a breaker marked as 32A and 18 months later it has never tripped despite long 32A charging sessions. Comes back to the general advice to OP - get an electrician to do it. For the sake of a few hundred $, don't risk burning down your house and insurance...
  30. L

Gen3 wall charger, 3-phase install question

Yep, I know. Oversizing the breaker can cause it to delay tripping in the event of a short. You shouldn't be installing a 100% rated 40A breaker when the wiring can only handle 32A.
  31. L

Gen3 wall charger, 3-phase install question

Got a source for this? The breaker should be sized to protect the circuit. If it's too much larger then it won't be effective.
  32. L

Gen3 wall charger, 3-phase install question

How far is the cable run? Likely you can do 6mm2 with a 32A breaker, unless the cable run is quite long. But to echo others - get a professional to do it.

    First Road Trip

'3 phase @ 7kw' is not a typical charge rate. You sure it wasn't 7kw on single phase (32amp)?
  34. L

Supercharger - Melbourne (South Yarra), Vic

These inner-east superchargers are likely targeting to apartment dwellers. But there are still plenty of apartment dwellers in the inner-west. Lots of terrace housing without off street parking too. Not to the extend of the East, but still significant.
  35. L

Supercharger - Melbourne (South Yarra), Vic

To bang on the same drum as usual - the west needs more options than just the one v2 site at Moonee Ponds!
  36. L

    Superchargers in Australia

Looks like the Japanese have banded together. We are down to 2/5 - Mansfield and Batemans Bay.
  37. L

    Supercharger - St Kilda, Vic

That's great, but can we please have some in the west? Moonee Ponds is buckling under pressure!

Can't add Gen3 Wall Connector to Tesla app.

I think he mentioned it because the manual includes a unique QR code to connect to the wifi.
  39. L

    Supercharger - Ballarat (Lucas)

Bacchus Marsh would be a good option, but more are needed in the western suburbs, like Sunshine, Taylor's Lakes and Werribee.
  40. L

Can't add Gen3 Wall Connector to Tesla app.

Mine does too, but it also has a temporary '2.4ghz only' mode for connecting things like smart home devices. Although you would expect it to work in normal 5ghz/2.4ghz mode, I need to enable this temporary mode when adding smart home devices. So maybe give 2.4ghz only a shot before dismissing it.

Mine is up 84% with GIO.
  42. L

    Model 3 Highland live now

I disagree. There are some nice changes, but it's not drastic and I don't think it 'dates' the current model too much. Plus prices are increasing, which will help the value of the older models.
  43. L

    Evie EV charging networks

Yeah including Chademo definitely is. But the other attributes - single stall and (usually) 50kw are up for grabs. Victoria is absolutely littered with these restricted chargers which are often broken. Such little forethought.
  44. L

    Evie EV charging networks

Yay more single-stall (plus Chademo) chargers! Sigh....

Drive battery health test in Service mode.

I also did the battery health test on my LFP Model 3, and although it did a full discharge/charge cycle, no test result was displayed. I assumed it was just me (not waiting long enough etc) but your post makes me think it might not work for particular cars (LFP).

DIY ceramic products available in Aus

Yeah black would definitely need more finesse. My Atto is blue. I did about as good of a job as I imagine would be possible. Where I saved some time was only polishing panels that I could find scratches/marring/imperfections on - which wasn't much (like 3). Polishing the entire car would of...
