Based on the listings at watingfortesla.com, I am guessing the backlog is mostly on the 19" rims. 20" rims appear to be widely available. I see examples of people getting quicker deliveries when updating to the 20" rims.

You can change your location. Send a text to Tesla (the same one you've received alerts from). A SA will update the delivery location. I did this last week.

Personally, I think it is wishful thinking ... as much as I too would love to unlock more range. I would not hold out for 4680/SBK for the issue of range, but for other reasons. SBK does appear to give some improved rigidity to the car so you may have fewer squeaks and rattles over time...
