I didn't realize that the noise goes away if the car charges at a Supercharger. Is this the case for everyone? I charge at home, so I rarely (almost never) visit Superchargers.
Context: Someone stated that the noise goes away after Supercharging on the other forum and this is the response that...
I don't know what the rules are for posting links to other forums, but I posted this over on the OpenInverter forums under the Tesla subsection. Some folks are replying to the thread. They seem to do a lot with drive units (including teardowns) over there, so I'm hoping it may help us find an...
At this point, I wouldn't bother with replacing/repairing anything until Tesla can definitively confirm what is causing this noise and has a documented solution.
Yeah, everything I've read has said ~20,000 EVs. This number is made up of mostly Teslas, but includes other make/model EVs.
The two reasons consistently cited by numerous articles/news outlets were high collision and repair costs, and depreciation values.
Out of curiosity... did your Hertz...
No offense, but in no way is a car with 87,000 miles on its odometer "new" unless it is "new" to you because you just purchased it. A car with this many miles on it, EV or ICE, is no longer considered new by any stretch of one's imagination.
I don't believe the phone will be replaced anytime soon. The automotive industry moves at a snail's pace. Also, the accuracy, reliability and most important, cost to implement another technologically advanced solution at scale is a challenge that still needs to be overcome.

The lessor (Tesla) and not the lessee (you) qualifies for the tax credit. Tesla only recently started to pass the $7,500 credit onto the consumer in their leases. You will not be able to include the credit in your tax filing.
A drive unit replacement wouldn't solve the issue if all the drive units being produced (and used now) share the same problematic bearing (assuming it is a bearing). I'm tempted to ask the folks on this forum for their input, they seem to know a lot about the drive units.
This may be interesting to some...
A friend of mine (girlfriend's friend actually) who is an automotive mechanical engineer agreed to go for a ride along with me in my Tesla and provide me with his opinion.
First, he did in fact hear the noise and stated that this noise would not be considered...
Did a quick Google search and found this. Seems the NY State DMV is not issuing timely registrations. When I purchased my Tesla (a year ago, at the Mt Kisco location), my registration came within 30 days. I would say there seems to be an issue/Tesla is telling you the truth.
If I test drove my brand new M3LR and heard this noise during that drive, I would've declined delivery. Instead, I accepted delivery, heard this noise on my way home and have been dealing with it ever since (in cold weather). As friends all have Tesla vehicles as well (2x M3, 1x MY and 1x MS), I...
If I wasn't dealing with this nonsense since day one (Dec 2022) of ownership, I'd probably be much happier. At least it goes away when it gets warmer out; maybe I'll move...
This noise is absolutely maddening, and now, with colder temperatures in the northeast, it has returned prevalently.
The video posted here is absolutely (100%, no doubt about) the noise I'm hearing. It was first heard on my (new) 2023 Model 3 LR during the drive home after taking delivery of...
If you swipe (left to right) on a displayed banner (not a software update though), you'll get this red box with a X and a "Dismiss Banner?" message. I have a "Refer and Earn" banner in this location currently and I can get this same red box/message to appear by swiping on it.
I feel like the Michelin Primacy MXM4 are terrible tires. I've had them now for 6,500 miles and I'm extremely disappointed in their overall grip and wet road performance. I am wondering if the extra weight of my Tesla is part of my issue though. I was using Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 and...
Well it's a good thing you can buy them pretty cheap on Amazon then.
Search Amazon for "Tesla jack pads" (I know, I know... who would've thought) and pick whichever option calls to you.
You'd think so wouldn't you? A reputable tire shop (chain) told me they had the jack pads when I asked, but they didn't use them. Instead, they jacked my car up incorrectly and damaged (cracked/broke a chunk off) the plastic shield (thank god that is all they did). After I sent an email to their...
Heh... If your blinker doesn't turn off after you've completed a lane change, the cars behind you have no way of knowing what your intentions are at that point. They will have to guess if you are trying to come over again or if you just failed to turn your blinker off. For this reason, the...
It isn't technically safe to perform a multi-lane change without pausing between each lane shift :) The car is teaching you fundamentals and trying to prevent you from being unsafe. Say whaaaaaaaaat?
I too realized that when I enabled auto cancel, I lost the generic "three blink > off" half press functionality that I've come to expect from any modern car. At first I thought this made no sense. Now, I realize I've lost nothing, I've only gained a convenient feature that works well and has...
Found them! They decided to hide them in the latest app update I guess.
Open the Tesla app, click the loot box icon next to your profile photo in the upper right corner, click on Earn at bottom of this next screen and finally, click on History in the upper right corner.
Why on earth Tesla's...
Here you go... courtesy of Discount Tire.
"Repairs are limited to the tread area only. Do not repair a tire if the injury extends into the shoulder or sidewall area. In this situation, the tire must be replaced. For a safe repair, the puncture must be 1/2 inch away or more from the edge of the...
The tire shop did use a rolling floor jack to lift my car (watched the tech roll one over to my car before he went out of view of the bay camera), but I'm thinking this wouldn't be worth fighting with them over after reading the comments here/seeing another photo of a similarly damaged shield. I...
Sorry, just to correct what I said (because I just took another look)... The section of plastic that is broken is actually toward the passenger side of the car (the side of the car with the tire that needed to be patched), it is not center/middle. This doesn't change what you said about getting...
My Tesla Model 3 LR has 2,270 miles on it, bought it new in December. It has never been out of my possession except to go to a very reputable detailer (wrapped in PPF) and today, when it went to a local tire place to have a screw removed/patched. I asked them if they had jack pads/knew how to...
Those OEM mudflaps are WAY too long, I'm not sure what Tesla was thinking when they made them. Even the most aggressive rally flaps don't sit that low... and they don't need to in order to serve their purpose.
The cheaper plastic option that was linked in this thread have a bunch of vendors...
Interesting - I have to admit that when I first heard the noise, I immediately thought brakes but was very skeptical because of the front drive unit... I'm going to try bedding my brakes to see if this eliminates the noise.
Interesting.
Your website's about page seemingly has all of your employees listed with their titles (I'm assuming this because you've chosen to list interns) but I'm not seeing any security folks, does this mean you do not have a security team?
I also do not see any sort of security...
Food for thought... You should consider offering these in single quantity counts as well. Damaging more than one or two covers at a time is highly unlikely. In the most common scenario (curbing a wheel), a person would have to buy the entire set again to replace the one damaged cover.
I can't speak to Rally Armor mud flaps specifically because I have Rokblokz rally mud flaps, but they are very similar in size to Rally Armor's
There is definitely a noticeable reduction in wheel spray to the body
Go to Tesla's website and click on a vehicle, any vehicle your little heart desires. In the bottom right corner of the page that loads, click on the chat icon. For the How can we help you? question, click Buying Tesla Products 😉 The form that loads will ask for some basic information - name...
My parents do not have cell phones either, just a landline  However, my Mom has an iPad (that I upgrade for her every two years or so) with cellular connectivity (on our Verizon Wireless plan) which my sister and I text, call and FaceTime (they love FaceTime with the grandkids). Maybe get...
While frustrating to you, the information @angelicboris provided is actually quite useful. I too found the exact M3LR model that I wanted at the end of December by using Tesla's inventory API. Angelicboris simply used a well-known Discord server's bot which makes calls to Tesla's inventory API...
I believe this only happens when the previous owner fails to remove/unlink their sold Tesla from their Tesla account. I know a number of folks who have bought used Teslas (and added them to their new Tesla accounts) without encountering a problem.
