I believe the Aus 3/Y LR and P models are using the LG Chem 2170 NMCA cells, started using them about 18mths ago, that’s what I’m hoping for anyway.

I think the Aus MY LR will still use the LG Chem NMCA batteries as in the Aus M3 LR. To have the current capacity to drive the dual motors.

I think overall if Tesla end up getting more sites approved quicker and more gov funding to roll out quicker, it will be better overall for all. One thing of concern is with all the smaller EV's models coming into the Australian market now, eg ones with only 70kW DC or 80kW DC max charging...

Did it say if it was a RWD, or AWD model at all ? Seems like the lower cost USA Model Y 4680 RWD with not much advantage yet, eg we already have the lower cost Model Y RWD with LFP batteries in Aus (eg approx $69K) (not offered in USA), unless they make a AWD or LR out of 4680 for Aus ...

I would go a 'base' model MYP, (with the higher spec AWD motors), instead of a MYLR AWD, if it did come in under the LCT limit for Novated Leases FBT Exemption. Can't see it happening yet but options... (what models AWD Model Y models could come in under $84,916, inc colour, delivery fee...

Not sure if the LFP batteries used in our base model Y or 3 could power 2 motors (current needs). All AWD models I have seen worldwide are NCA batteries = LR. I suspect a Model Y RWD for USA is awaiting the 4680 NCA cells, not LFP (their inventory stock so far)

Model Y AWD LR offered in Australia would be great, more interested in it for the Dual Motor than the LR. (UK, Hong Kong, USA, Germany, China all sell the model) (preferably under the LCT limit in a colour :))
