"Cabin Camera Unavailable" Kills FSD. AP Okay.

Just today I got the same error in my 2018 P3D, right after installing FSD 12.3.4. Cabin camera unavailable. It works fine streaming from the app. Tried the computer reset, no luck— I guess we’ll see what happens when the car goes to sleep. In the meantime, no more FSD for me I guess.

I think I’ve decided that a model 3 is better for me than a model s. Your thoughts?

The highland 3 definitely closed the gap with the Model S, even just in terms of noise and comfort (based on the current youtube reviews). That explains the significant Model S price drop. The road noise is my biggest complaint with my 2018 Model 3. My 2014 Model S was much quieter.

I think I’ve decided that a model 3 is better for me than a model s. Your thoughts?

Based on the now released highland details and videos, seems like it’s worth waiting for. Better interior (IMO), quieter, longer range, better suspension, etc. But who knows when it’ll be available in the US. Maybe 2024.

5/32 tread depth on 12850 miles

Those tires only have 8/32 when brand new, so 5/32 means you’re effectively halfway through their lifespan. On my M3P (stealth with 18” and MXM4’s) my first set only lasted 13k miles total. My second set is at 5/32 with almost 30k miles, so they’ve lasted longer (and maybe due to getting an...

Should I upgrade from 2018 M3 to 2023 M3P now that I can transfer FSD?

Does your current car have unlimited premium internet? My 2018 M3P does. Also if you use Homelink, you’ll have to purchase that separately on the new car.

    Order Process for FSD Transfer

What were the other offers? That sounds like a trade-in bait and switch. My initial trade-in quote was $30k for my 2018 P3D with FSD (as of a few days ago). I haven’t proceeded further but if they’re going to drop it by $10k on the actual trade-in, due to removing FSD, what’s the point of the...

    Order Process for FSD Transfer

Is there any final answer on whether FSD can be transferred from cars (prior to 2018) that originally had EAP but upgraded to FSD?

    Order Process for FSD Transfer

I wonder what happens if you refuse delivery due to QC issues on the new car, but FSD has already been removed from your current car.

    Order Process for FSD Transfer

Yeah so I'm still waffling... I hate being indecisive. The more I think about it, the more I think the wise decision is to just hold on to my Model3 another year and see what my options are next summer. I'm not actually that eager to get rid of my current car, because it is still a good car and...

    Order Process for FSD Transfer

I suppose that depends on a number of factors…. But Tesla’s most recent trade-in quote for my car was $3k higher than my Carvana quote from a month ago. And that quote accounted for the FSD transfer. I’m guessing that FSD makes zero difference in 3rd party quotes, but Tesla at least gives you a...

    Order Process for FSD Transfer

Based on the original guidelines, Tesla would remove FSD from the value of your trade-in ($3000), but then you also couldn’t sell the new car with FSD, so you’d lose the value of FSD on the next trade as well. So in the end, you‘d lose the $3000 as a result of transferring FSD. Now that Tesla...

Waiting Room for MYLR/MYP: July 2023 Orders

Ugh. I guess if I’m going to pull the trigger on an MYP with the FSD transfer I better do it soon. The site still says July/August for estimated delivery, but with the plant shutdown I can see that getting pushed out beyond 9/30 after I order and then my FSD transfer disappears into the void.
  14. T

    Order Process for FSD Transfer

Good - that eliminates the $3k “transfer fee.” You lose the FSD value on your trade-in, but you keep the value of FSD when you trade-in or sell your new car later on. So you give up 3K initially but get it back later (assuming Tesla will always value FSD at the same value on trades). BTW my...

2023 Model Y no USS discussion, incl. Discussion of Tesla Vision Firmware

Park assist is a solved problem. It’s been solved for many years. Tesla decided to make it worse by reinventing the wheel.

5 Years with the Model 3

Late 2018 stealth P3 here. One of the first cars built in the tent at Fremont. It's holding up very well. Only 28k miles, mostly due to the pandemic and the fact that I still work from home 80% of the time. I have had exactly one unscheduled service issue - a 12V battery replacement. Only other...

Any 16V compatible portable power stations?

Check the DC input specs. If the car charger uses the same DC input as solar panels, it'll be fine. My older Ecoflow River Max accepts 10V-25V DC input. And then the 12V output is regulated to 12V, regardless of DC input voltage, if you're doing pass-through. Side note - During power outages I...

It's a shame they didn't put a couple Magic Docks there since it's a brand new installation. It looks like the charger position and cable length would reach either side of a vehicle.

Corrective Steering Applied For Your Safety!

This has started happening to me frequently with my 2018 M3P as well (running FSD beta). Also receiving a large number of false collision warnings, from pedestrians that are clearly on a sidewalk well off of the road, as well as cars that are stopped in the lane adjacent to the one I'm driving in.

Model 3 refresh leaked? (with picture) [posted 04.12.2023]

Humans are generally terrible at judging distances visually which is why USS were added to cars in the first place. The typical driver on the road does not have the distance-measuring acuity of a falcon or a missile… more like a potato.

    Cybertruck 4 motor

The quad motor will be replacing the tri-motor version IMO. Tesla aggressively simplifies production so there’s no way they’ll offer a vehicle with 4 different drivetrains. I also noticed that recent videos show only the front wheels turning, so it seems 4-wheel steering may be abandoned too...

Supercharger - Marietta, GA - Roswell Rd

I just drove by there today. It looks like it’s fenced off and there’s some conduit sitting there. Probably a decent number of spots (at least 8-10). I assume that’s where the SC will be as it’s not near the other construction going on at the complex.

Tesla Begrudgingly “Recalls” FSD Beta for NHTSA

The short term fix really can't be anything other than disabling FSD for the wide public. That will immediately resolve the problems identified by the NHTSA. Because the other option is to make FSD work correctly in all the scenarios outlined by the NHTSA, which means... basically finishing FSD...

Solid red light after power outage on Wall Connector gen 3

OK, some updates/tips after having just performed the swap. Nope. You need a bit driver and the...

Solid red light after power outage on Wall Connector gen 3

My replacement will be here in a couple days, but curiously, 2 days ago my light went back to solid green on its own. I haven't tried charging with it, and I'm still going to do the swap. Meanwhile I'm getting by on 120V charging. But somehow the fault was cleared out, maybe Tesla pushed a...

Solid red light after power outage on Wall Connector gen 3

Found this thread because the same thing happened to me tonight with my gen3 connector. Power outage for 3 hours, and power is back on with just a solid red light. Something seems very flaky about these units if we have to replace the hardware every time the power blips. I tried the circuit...

Will you go to the Telsa store tomorrow after the price drop

There once was a time back in 2019 where Tesla *did* send refund checks to people that bought a Model 3 Performance before the price dropped by $5k overnight. 2023 Model 3 without USS and proximity functionality [park assist / summon not available]

You mean having your passenger get out of the car, and make gestures with their hands showing how far you are from the object in front of the car? IRS weighs in on tax rebate, mostly bad news for Model Y

I love how Hyundai is now setting the bar for "fancy." The rear backup camera in my Model 3 lags a bit too, but that doesn't mean it's not useful. Tesla Model Y build quality, manufacturing refinement and assembly

The irony is that the highway part is old code that's been in production for years. The beta is only the "around town" part which is the FSD code. Unless you're an employee running V11 of course (which uses the new FSD code for the highway).

IRS definitions of what's a car vs SUV by manufacturer for $55k vs $80k price limit

Yeah then the tow hitch effectively becomes an $8500 option if it crosses the threshold. You’d be better off getting a loaded MYLR with 7 seats compared to a base model 5-seater with just 1 option. This assumes that the base price of the Y will drop by $11k in the first place which is not likely.

    tesla trade-in values decreasing :( Nov/Dec 2022

The used cars on Tesla's web site certainly aren't dropping like a rock. Model Y Not Worth the Price Now [Nov 2022]

I noticed tonight that the "custom order" option is gone from Tesla's web site. If you go to model 3 or Y pages, there's a "buy now" button which takes to you the New inventory page. I can't find a way to navigate to "custom order." Tesla has inventory they really really want to get rid of.
