    2 painful years with a Model S

Lotta Tesla fanbois on these replies, unsurprising given where you are. :-D The car is not really known for its fit & finish. Build quality to comparably priced cars was pretty poor at one time. But that is something you sort of have to assume responsibility for when you get one. Not...

How closely does Tesla look at trade ins?

If you have a CarMax near you, you can also go there for the trade-in. They tend to be much higher than most dealerships as they do a far more thorough inspection. I've traded my last 3 cars in at CarMax and come out pretty satisfied. This includes prior to picking up the Tesla.

Tesla launched its own insurance company. What customers say....

Yes inquiring minds want to know where you can insure a Tesla for $726 per year!

FSD beta - first time user reactions

My understanding is the new cameras see a LOT better than the older ones. I consider this a downgrade. :-) I am not at all into my car monitoring my eyes in real time especially when as you pointed out it can be overly cautious to the point of absurdity at times. Also, I don't think your FSD...

FSD Owners - Do any of you prefer leaving it off?

This seems to confirm what I've always highly suspected which is hardware makes a dramatic difference. You are on HW4 on the 2023 and its vastly higher quality/compute power. This is possibly the most annoying part in that HW3 was sold as "good enough" but the reality is, it kinda isn't. HW4...

    Is my model X totaled?

Frame damage and possibly battery damage given the rear shot. In no universe would I want that car back after being repaired. The damage report alone on the car's history would send your resale value plummeting.

Tesla launched its own insurance company. What customers say....

That is so reasonable that if I can match that quote I would switch immediately. My premium with Tesla is all over the map and I utterly -hate- the car "judging" my driving, often poorly, when it does not understand every situation I encounter on a daily basis. I have gotten hard braking...

Extended Warranty Option In App Gone?

Quick follow up question. As you know the Battery and Drive Unit have much longer warranties than the rest of the car. Do you all offer something that covers the other things but NOT the Battery and DU? Reason being, if I have let's say a few years left on that warranty it doesn't make a great...

Extended Warranty Option In App Gone?

Sorry to resurrect this dated thread but something interests me in this post. In the bolded text above you are describing several items that are NOT part of the drive train or battery system but you are saying X-Care covered these? X-Care does not offer coverage for anything other than the...

Don't drive my Tesla in heavy rain due to battery damage???

For the most part. Only using the app to buy a car was not always ideal and the payment required was not intuitive. It appeared I would have to pay the entire balance before taking delivery which is insane to me. Once I finally got a sales rep on the phone he explained that you just pay the...

FSD Owners - Do any of you prefer leaving it off?

Off completely almost always. It is actually fine on highways/freeways but I'm not lazy enough to not be able to hit the turn signal to let the car change lanes with EAP. I did a 3,000 mile road trip across the US this summer and it didn't make the cut, especially in city traffic or urban areas...

FSD beta - first time user reactions

It is largely a party trick, and a dangerous one at that. I did a 3,000 mile road trip this summer and "tested" it under all manner of scenarios and conditions. There are many many posts here with extensive and detailed feedback but it can be easily summarized. Under "optimal" conditions it...

    FSD 11.4.x experiences

Same thing here. I am very sorry I updated. The release notes sounded very promising but the car is straight up dangerous now. Massive phantom breaking on open highway at 65-80 mph is quite frequent now. I am also driving on 3 lane highways that are 60 mph but have traffic lights. It slows down...

    Less Nag ?

Definitely less on newest version, though I do agree that traffic conditions appear to play a factor. I almost thought it wasn't working when I was driving at speed on a 6 lane divided highway in light traffic it was so infrequent. But on the drive back there was more chaos on the road in the...

Used Model S Performance with 0-60 in 3.0s?

Don't take this the wrong way, but unless you are going to be using this car on the track or for similar purpose, does shaving that .7 seconds really matter that much, especially when you are talking about a 3 second car already? LOL! In any practical real world setting you are going to smoke...

    Why 42 PSI ?

According to my Service Center, still is. I just took delivery a few months ago and the tech that did the walkthrough recommended 45PSI, I guess he is old school. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I can't imagine the difference between 42 and 45 is even noticeable. M3P 20" wheels, for reference.

Tesla safety score penalizes night driving..

Scored dropped 15 points from this today. I was at 96 now at 81. $44 / month insurance increase for nothing. I drive no differently now than I did the day before, week before, month before. I'm up to $99/month now which is the same rate I can get from basically any other insurance provider...

    2020 Model 3 SR Totaled

Tesla sells these cars used 2020 M3 SR for about $30K so is 21K that low? Depends on what their profit margin is but I see three 2020 M3 SRs for sale near me, all w/ about 40K miles for between 31-33K so it may be a BIT low but not tremendously so. The cars prices have come down quite a bit...

Same, not seeing this anywhere in the App. Can someone that has it available specifically advise how to get to this screen?

Done with Tesla Model Y Performance after 2000km

Sorry to derail this thread but this is absolutely fascinating to me, the two I highlighted especially and it really shows how much individual driver preference really supersedes all else. I owned both these cars as well and I did not like the S2000. Whereas my E92 M3 was in my top 3 easily...

One month review of my Model 3 Performance

Add another one to the list. I come off a long line of mid-range sports cars myself. Multiple BMW M3s, MKIV Supra Twin Turbo, 300ZX TT, Corvette Z06, etc. etc. I think there is sort of a "hidden" demographic of us in that not everyone necessarily is driving this car for its environmentally...

2022 Model 3 Long Range. DC to Austin to SpaceX to Titusville to DC. 4400 miles

Thanks, very informative. I love these long road trip reports here because I bought this car, in no small part, as a touring vehicle. One of my primary anxieties was obviously charging stations but I've seen other reports here & elsewhere then unless you are really in the hinterlands you are...

    Terrible Sat Nav Routing

Its pretty shyte mate, I feel your pain. I was also taken on a seriously long roundabout adventure last weekend because, against my better judgement, I did not cross check the route. I resolved after also driving through a 'picturesque country setting' an extra hour even though there were...

Carvana trial: Should I keep or not

Personally? I'd dump it ASAP. It is used, it is Carvana. You can literally order another one next week w/o any issues even if its from Carvana again. Price also seems high"ish" as someone else mentioned for a 2016. Also why not just get a used one from Tesla directly? Cut out the middle man and...

Tesla’s Model Y SUV is being investigated for steering wheels that can fall off

Sorry but at the end of the day even if I PULL my steering wheel, hard, it should NOT come away from the steering column. Ever. Period. "Manufacturing Error" to me sounds like you have a door panel not aligned, or some system isn't working. This is absolutely fatal if it occurs at the wrong time...

What are people that bought Full FSD doing?

I signed this, can't hurt. My take on this is very simple. If you trade in the car and do NOT buy a Tesla you get some money on it back because its baked into the vehicle's price at trade-in or sale. If you DO buy a Tesla there is no good reason you should not get the option to transfer since...

What are people that bought Full FSD doing?

I don't think you can count FSD as a total loss because it does transfer with the car. Much like any feature on any car that is an automatic increase in trade-in / resale value. I bought a used M3P and specifically sought out FSD during my purchase because I didn't want to bother w/ the...

2022 Tesla M3 LR Accident Damage [is this totaled?]

Even if it -wasn't- totaled would you want to drive that car? With the major damage and then repairs and all the potential risk of that not to mention the accident declarations you'd need to make. I generally want my expensive vehicles totaled whenever possible.

    Do police respect Tesla's more?

Not having the associated sound of wide open throttle (WOT) when you are standing out it certainly helps I think somewhat. But if you are hauling ass it will be visually obvious as well so you are only partly shielded. I have to disagree about the M3 though, I had a hell of a lot fun with that...

Your friend sounds somewhat thoughtless / dangerous and I say this as someone who drives quite fast, but in a controlled manner.

    FSD Discount

Nor should you justify it. $15K you pay THEM to be a beta tester is patently absurd. Especially given that there are many stories across the internet and here as well about near misses and close calls aplenty with FSD.
