that extension at least doubled the length which also means force exerted on the hitch is now doubled. this effectively reduces the hitch load capacity to 80lb or in your case only 50lb cargo.

i think this was the source of my rattle...i thought it was coming from inside the hatch. i put some foam pads under the plastic mount that came with car and also bent the plate to make the plastic mount hug the body. no rattle so far so hopefully its fixed.
