    Punctured tire/question

just plugged mine other day and so far no bubbles and holding air. its borderline sidewall but it was a clean puncture so i expect it to hold and carry the plug kit and tools if it springs a leak. tire has 12k on it and hopefully will last. used this kit. also available at walmart...

    Homelink retrofit install failure

homelink is a dumb system and doesn't know the door status so it sometimes operates as unintended. like when someone already has the door open when you arrive it will close it. imagine if another vehicle is in the garage with hatch open to unload groceries and you happen to arrive. also if...

Homelink and 2023 Holiday Software Bug?

auto close/open with homelink is asking for trouble. i washed the car on the driveway then pulled forward a bit then started backing into the garage. when i pulled forward it thought i was leaving and started closing the door. i was only looking at the side mirror and luckily caught a glimpse...

High pitched whine at 33MPH and 49-50MPH

check this thread...issue is likely misaligned perimeter seal under the back seat. you can try stuffing foam around the perimeter under the back seat or tesla can replace the seal. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/high-frequency-noise-hum-new-model-y.267185/

    How to justify Tow Hitch?

that extension at least doubled the length which also means force exerted on the hitch is now doubled. this effectively reduces the hitch load capacity to 80lb or in your case only 50lb cargo.

2022 MYP GPS stuck, no cameras, cannot sleep

does it show ecu fallback on the other screen as m555 mentioned above?

2022 MYP GPS stuck, no cameras, cannot sleep

based on the pic it looks like a different issue vs op. service menu on mine showed ecu fallback same as op. i haven't had any issues since the computer was replaced.

Wiper Blade Replacement Tesla Model Y

wipers on 23 mylr bought in march started squeaking so replaced with these silicone refills. seems to be good wiping on initial testing but will have to see about longevity. at $13 for 10 refills, its much cheaper than buying a full blade set. i used to only use refills but assumed they were...

Steering Wheel Bubbling From Heat - Warranty?

doesn't seem so according to the manual. unfortunately bubbling would be considered cosmetic damage.

2022 MYP GPS stuck, no cameras, cannot sleep

late update but issue kept coming back. took it in and they ended up replacing the "computer" and no more problems. in the process they created some other minor issues but nothing a mobile visit and another trip to the sc couldn't fix...smh.,..

Hope everyone’s Sunday is going better than ours

ouch...i thought seat belts were supposed to stop forward motion but i guess this being a rear end collision it might act differently. might want to have the seat belt inspected to make sure it functions properly if they go the repair route. it would be lot more than a bump if it was a front...

Hope everyone’s Sunday is going better than ours

i would hope for a total. if they go the repair route it prob won't be same again and now there is mark on the vehicle history which will affect resale value. curious how wife bumped her head on the dash. was she not wearing a seatbelt? anyway, keep on the lookout for symptoms as it could...

Does Chill mode increase efficiency? Surprisingly, Tesla says yes

this is precisely the point of op. in standard/sport mode, battery has to be heated to a higher temp and that temp maintained regardless of how you drive. this is so the battery can deliver the boost if/when it's called for. in chill mode, there is no need to provide this instant boost. so...

MY seen pulling a ~27ft Airstream yesterday - please don't

so that is probably a tandem trailer and you are pretty brave. i have a vw atlas with a 500/5,000 rated tow package and manual specifically states not to use a weight distribution hitch due to stresses on the unibody frame. wdh is normally designed for truck body/frame construction. using wdh...

2022 MYP GPS stuck, no cameras, cannot sleep

mine was glitchy before it completely went dead and brought back after the hard reset. it might be a good thing yours didn't recover since replacement would be better than driving around with a glitchy unit and keep having to reset it.

2022 MYP GPS stuck, no cameras, cannot sleep

i have a 23 mylr and exact same thing happened with no cameras, gps, ap, ecu fallback, etc... hard reset by disconnecting the 12v in the frunk then high voltage connector under the rear pass seat and everything is back. before this, tried multiple two button reboots, while holding brakes...

i have this folding one whch is a carryover from previous ice suv. https://www.harborfreight.com/750-lb-capacity-folding-cargo-carrier-62660.html i wouldn't get specifically for the y since its 55lb which eats into the 160lb vertical tongue weight limit for hitch accessories (350lb with a...

Tow Hitch - OEM vs Aftermarket pros/cons

i've installed hitches on my 2 previous cars (mdx and enclave) but most i had to do was drop the rubber hanger for the muffler and bolting in the hitch. i took a look at the install videos for the y and decided to get it factory installed...i'm all for diy and do my own oil changes, brake jobs...

Acceleration Boost (AB) or 20" induction wheels for 2023 new Model Y LR

i went with 19" wheels for quiet and comfort. replaced the oem covers with aftermarket ones. you can always replace wheels later then sell the oem 19" to recoup some of the cost. no i'm not paying 2k for a software update get to 60 half sec faster. keep in mind if you get the 20" you will...

    Rearview mirror housing rattle/vibrations

i had same rattle from the mirror housing...when taking off the round cap, grab it and tilt it to the side to create a gap. then insert a trim removal tool or a credit card to pry it loose. i then put some strong mounting tape on the inner plastic housing on both sides to hold it tight. also...

Small nail near tire wall, tiny bubbles. What can be done?

try this repair kit first before replacing that tire. small puncture like that isn't going to turn into anything catastrophic unless run constantly on low air. if it doesn't end up working due to proximity to the side wall then at least you'll have a kit for future punctures that are further...

2023 Model Y rattles in the back

i think this was the source of my rattle...i thought it was coming from inside the hatch. i put some foam pads under the plastic mount that came with car and also bent the plate to make the plastic mount hug the body. no rattle so far so hopefully its fixed.

Anyone have State Farm Drive Safe?

what coincidence, just signed up wife and 2 kids other day. already paying high rates for kids insurance so this will definitely help as they are safe drivers anyway. i on the other hand opted out the new tesla for now at least until i've had some fun with it. as far as the paranoia, they...

    High Frequency Noise/Hum-New Model Y

wow this made all the difference! i have a 23 lr and it has the high pitched whine during acceleration and even cruising at certain speeds. bought two of these a/c foam inserts from home depot for under $10 and stuffed it into the gap where i could see the blue seal and noise is now gone...

Do we need a CCS adapter?

its standard rate of 43c/kwh without monthly sub (31c with) which should be about average compared to sc rates. although on march 6, ea rates will increase by 5c to 48c / 36c.

Do we need a CCS adapter?

here's an example where ccs adapter would come in handy. picture shows the only sc in tallahassee and its 150kw at that. as such its usually crowded. there are new ea 350kw chargers next to it which can be used with a ccs adapter. this would apply to other locations where ccs charger is...

wall connector installed with retractable overhead charging cable

wall connector installed with retractable overhead charging cable

thanks...my goal was to try and make it simple and cost effective. alternative was to run 35+ feet of wiring and conduit to the back to place charger on the column between the two garage doors which would have been lot more work. i don't foresee any issues with this setup but if there are any...

Discussion: Model Y General Waiting room for orders placed After January 2023

not to split hairs but...lr is actually 4.5 sec as they are including .3 sec for rollout whereas on the p they are not. testing from car magazines confirm lr comes in under 4.5sec. one way to make p seem that much faster to increase profit margins.

Do we need a CCS adapter?

with the gov deal to open up sc netowork, sc numbers are projected to double by next year from current ~2,000. so there will be less likely need to use this adapter. but by the same token, number of ccs chargers will skyrocket in the coming years due to the tax incentive in the ira. tax...

Advice on charger location in garage

lol ask 10 people and get 10 different answers. that said, sophias dad suggestion of a 2x4 across the rail is a good idea. you could just use some zip ties in an x to secure them to the rails. same with the charging cable. one benefit of the balancer is that you won't need a holster as the...
