    Model 3 wheel cover purpose?

I love these but they are off the car now. Wife really hated them. I really loved them. Efficiency is unknown. They stick out more and cover the lip, so they could be worse. If you are a weirdo and like them, ping me and I might sell them. I really want to use them again. They are a...

The quest for the ultimate efficiency.

BLUF: If the tires when new are the same efficiency as the old/worn, then they will be amazing once broken in, and then even better as they wear. Maybe try 44 cold PSI and see if that helps. I'm the crazy person at 46 PSI cold but might come down to 44 PSI.

The quest for the ultimate efficiency.

Can you post your data for your testing between 40psi and 50psi? I am curious. I used 42psi with the MXM4s and noted that the ride got very rough at higher cold pressures. With my new Goodyears, 42psi seemed very plush. But even with an alignment, I'm still wearing the inside of the fronts...

    MICHELIN Primacy™ Tour A/S tires

These are the OEM tires on my wifes Telluride, in 20s. They seem quiet in that car and I bet quieter than my 2020LR ever was. So far they are up to 45k miles and I don't see why they won't get to 55k miles. This car is gutless though, but ~24-25mpg on the freeway is decent for this beast...

FSD 12.3 today - utter failure!

Nope, mine does it too on v12 BUT not consistently. There are bends where it hugs the outside of the turn. I have a spot where the road slopes off (major crown) so that the car wants to effectively go off the road. V11 corrected and worked to keep the car centered. V12 does not fight as...

Traffic Aware Cruise Control (TACC) won't be available on FSD v12?

To circle back: v12.3 now handles the these turn out lanes as pictured above. It sometimes has the right side tires on that middle dotted line, then basically almost on the shoulder off the road when the lane disappears. But it creeped back into the lane. Good enough for me! But the speed...

Traffic Aware Cruise Control (TACC) won't be available on FSD v12?

The big difference is this, and it happened to me today: FSD v12.3 - when you swerve to miss the pot hole you now have the car slowing down. With v11 FSD, it held your speed. I have 4 or 5 manhole covers that I play swerve with every day. Our pothole situation is actually not bad. I was...

FSD 12.3 today - utter failure!

I have the normal 3 settings: TACC - Autosteer - FSD When I select Autosteer, I can choose between Single Pull or Double Pull. When I select FSD, even if I selected Double Pull on Autosteer, if switches back to Single Pull. And then its grayed out. Picture! The Single Pull is selected, and...

FSD 12.3 today - utter failure!

Can you select single or double pull FSD with 12.3? I've had 12.3 for two days, and yesterday I was able to single pull for cruise control and double pull for FSD... I think, but pretty sure. Today, it was on single pull and when parked it wouldn't let me select double pull. I would have...

Torque, Horsepower, and speed, A technical discussion

CKwik240, not an attack on you, but on the first page you posted this below. Yes the engine at a certain RPM will make the same HP/TQ for each gear, but its connected to a transmission. So the graph below doesn't really say anything useful, does it? As you figured out on the second page, when...

Bought this from a TMC member. He posted a video of himself using it. I tried this 1 time on a Shell Recharge for kicks and couldn't get the system to work. At the time I was a new Tesla owner thinking I would be charging outside of the house all the time. Yup, never really happens and I...

Tire Porn - Goodyear Assurance CD 19"

These are noted as 11/32nds brand new, so even more tread depth than the "standard" 10/32nds. Looking forward to the data for efficiency and noise. These tires would work on my wifes ICE SUV, so I am going to follow the thread. Thanks.

    Kumho Crugen EV HP71

Took my wifes Kia to the dealership and noticed the EV6 has Kumho Crugen EV tires. Did a quick search and there really isn't much info out there, at least from the US perspective. I didn't even think to take a pic of the UTQG info. Anyone know the story on these tires? Are they going to come...

Front Passenger Safety Restraint System Fault

Got the RCM_a056 last night. I thought my warranty was over today so I made a service request last night. Nope, warranty was over on 22 Jan is what they are telling me. Is there a Server Manager I can ping to see if they will offer to fix this under warranty? If not, I can swap parts and...

    Goodyear ElectricDrive GT Tires 235/45R18

I went back and here is what I said: The tires are louder than stock. It took about 80miles for an initial whine to quiet down. It's not bad and depending on the road they can be quiet. But overall I would say they will be louder than MXM4. Its still a fair statement. They are not terribly...

    Michelin Primacy MXM4 T1 236Wh/mi Michelin CrossClimate2 263Wh/mi From tirerack test: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=298 I think that's 11% worse efficiency for their test for the CC2.

In 2023, who's making the best all-weather, all-season tires for the Tesla Model 3?

Me too. I think 90% of my posts on this forum are tire related and started after I had a big slide in the rain on MXM4s, at night, with the fam. It wasn't a huge drift as the wife didn't notice, but we lost the rear in a sweeper. 2020 M3LR with 18s. I can say for sure the Goodyear...

    2023 M3 RWD + Erange Tires = M3 Highland range?

I remember when I thought I would NEVER buy the "cheap" Korean Hankook tires. And look at them today, bringing the fight to the French! My point is that if a Chinese company wants to make someting to compete, they can. For us consumers, its harder to understand if the new ERange is more of...

    Stopgap Tire Pressure Change?

Animorph is correct with regards to pressure. I raced dot tires in the rain, talking motorcycles, and the Dunlop guy said a little more tire pressure opened the treads to move more water. I have been running 44-46psi cold with Goodyears and have been happy. Hours and hours driving in the rain...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Installed 2023.27.12 this morning. I noticed that when I scroll the commanded speed up or down, there is a small tick mark showing something pointed diagonally up or down, respectively. I think that is new. It reminds of modern aircraft with a velocity trend on the PFD but it's not quite the...

    Proper time to check PSI.

I check/adjust in the morning before I leave for work. 42psi is current guidance while 46psi was older guidance. I have been using 44-46psi with my different brand tires (they are more compliant than the Michelin MXM4, so the extra pressure doesn't make the ride too rough). Our weather...

Mobile Connector vs. Wall Charger - Renting a House

My first time with the UMC and 120v/15 amps, with the car outside in 10-15F temps, it gained something like 1% or 2% in 10 hours. Thats it. If the car is going to be outside and it gets cold where you live, you might want to spring for the 50 amp outlet.

    Goodyear ElectricDrive GT Tires 235/45R18

BLUF aka TLDR: These tires are close enough to the MXM4 in efficiency while having MUCH better grip in the wet (and dry). If USAA is doing the discount then I will most likely buy them again. If not, I may try the ION Evos, but I am worried I will give up wet grip. Here is the latest: - Last...

Is there a downside to turning off phone key?

My used car came with a fob and 2 keycards. I stopped using the phone-as-key because I *thought* being near the car with my phone would keep it awake. And our bedroom is above the garage. This is NOT how it works as I understand it. But I have just kept using the fob and am used to carrying...

Basic 18" second set of wheels for winter tires on 2023 M3 RWD

I love my Turbofan/Aerodisc wheel covers and everyone hates them! OP - I would buy OEM wheels, with or without rash. My used car must have hit every curb in NYC, some paint pen action and it's good enough.

Is 255/40/18 a good street tire size?

UPP claims 8.1% less drag with a 1.5" drop in ride height. To convert that to foreign😆, thats 38.1mm less ride height. I don't think 5mm lower is going to make a significant decrease to your drag count. How much do the new tires weigh vs the old? So many variable changes with this simple...

EPA is not good, we need a new standard.

My longest road trip, 214 miles. 46 kWh used, and 214 Wh/mi was the trip average. Assuming I have about 70 kWh at this point, means I had plenty of miles left. Left on Friday, parked all day Saturday. Drove home Sunday. I think I charged to 100% and I don't remember being worried about...

EPA is not good, we need a new standard.

Ouch. I'm relatively new here, but in my short time I have done 2 four wheel alignments, and both times it was needed. First when I bought the car, second after FUCA replacement. They made a difference. Even now with newish tires that are not supposed to be as efficient as MXM4 tires, I am...

EPA is not good, we need a new standard.

BLUF: I think 150-180 miles would be reasonable. 60% of 300 miles is 180 miles. So your 80%->20% drive could be 180 miles per the EPA estimated range. That is 3 miles per 1% of battery. What are you getting for Wh/mi? My best guess, using ABRP vs my real world, and then tweaking the ABRP...

Are these three MXM4 tires the same (for Model 3 AWD)?

You didn't ask, but I am going to say it anyways: Why not the Hankook Ion Evo Tires? https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/hankook-ion-evo-as From all reports, they are quieter, more efficient, cheaper, and MUCH better in the wet. The MXM4 tires are over 10 years old and its starting to...

    $90 to get tires rotated

5/32 tread depth on 12850 miles

I got an alignment around the same mileage and wear. It needed it, for sure. My local place had a special for $99 but now it's back up to $150. If your toe is off, you can easily wear out fronts faster than expected.

    What tires are you running?

Per Tire Rack, wet stopping 50-0 distance. MXM4 is 146.4 ft Pilot Sport AS 4 is 115.5 ft DWS 06 Plus 112.3 ft My first drive in the rain was eye opening with 3 year old MXM4 tires. Sent me on a path for new tires.

A few more questions from a new owner

Past service information belongs to the previous owner. It's unfortunate but that's the way Tesla treats service history. I called the closest service center and sweet talked a lady there. I was able to get some information but definitely not a list of things done. What tires are in the car?

Tire Rotation [recommendations on where to get tires rotated?]

I reached out to the Lift Bars guy. He said the longer distance between the jacking points combined with the extra weight of the Model 3 meant the size of the bar was not practical. If you make something that works, please show it off here!

Don't forget from that other thread, I have an emergency jack and a spare. I used the spare today and did the tire rotation, front crossed to rear, and rear back-front. It was spur of the moment, my kids thing cancelled and all of the sudden I had a window to goof on the car. I didn't even...

Its the Porsche tax. Like the Corvette tax. Make me a pair! For $190 I think I am going to buy 1 Renn Stand but it sounds like my 1 jack and jack stands are good enough for tire rotations. The 986 was stiff enough that I could lift on one side of the rear and get jack stands under both...
