    LOL. Dammit.

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

I have those exact tire size and brand on my MP3 on Uberturbines. They are wider and look great, but the resonance sound at a few different speeds is annoying and I can't wait to replace. With the stock rims it does have a bit of roll over into the edge of the tire on the fronts, so the side of...

Does Tesla Share Drivers Habits to Data Brokers too? (!!!)

Hi all, later last year Tesla pushed an update to allow opt-out of data sharing within the UI, but I was wondering those savvy enough in the industry would know how to find this data and if it was being used to estimate quotes for various insurance companies. I have a great driving record, and...

Another Tesla Insurance Rate Increase! Seriously Tesla?

@everyone... FYI: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/11/technology/carmakers-driver-tracking-insurance.html 💢. Edit (article paywalled): Automakers Are Sharing Consumers' Driving Behavior With Insurance Companies - Slashdot

    2014 P85d High Voltage Failure

Nice. In some ways I wish I had more time and a garage to work on the pack my self (have knowledge and skill) but it was almost cheaper to buy a new M3P. I miss the off the line torque the P85D Ludicrous had, but not the fall off after 30 mph. Apparently after charging to 50% the day before an...

    2014 P85d High Voltage Failure

When was your MS built in 2014? Mid 2014 or late 2014?

Failed (2nd) battery 700 miles out of warranty.

You are correct. Later 21700 cells, and the referb but with new cells was the 3rd gen version so likely a huge improvement. I'll remember this thread when my 23 M3P pack dies out of warranty in 7 years ;)

Failed (2nd) battery 700 miles out of warranty.

I feel the pain. Bought used 2014 MS P85D 10 days out of warranty, 10 days later a shorted battery (U018 etc) 14K replacement cost, despite evidence that the car was getting BMS errors before I even bought it, but was not displaying to "Customer Facing" error messages. I believe these warning...

Nope. Zero accidence or moving violations in my life.

Rates are up by 50% ??

I haven't had insurance for a few years, as I had no car. But Progressive 23 M3P is $5,544 per year or $462 per month AND it went up 15% even though my agent said it would go down after 6 months. This coverage is over half the cost of the car! I've never been in an accident, and this car is 4x...

    Insurance in Washington State

    What do you mean?
  15. A

thinking of trading in for a model 3. Insurance questions

Washington State. Progressive. $462 per month or $5544 per year! I spent a decade driving zip cars, and pay-as-you-go cars that had insurance built in, now that I own a car, a M3P, this is just unsustainable. I was promised my rate would go down after 6 months but it went up 15%. No claims no...

I think I have the wrong Tesla and I kinda hate it, lol

23 PM3 here. I don't see many "lightweight" rims being any better than the Uberturbines regarding reliability. Turbines are not that ugly; besides, they are way more robust than people are led to believe. Yes, I hit a large rock going 50mph and a $570 tire replacement bill, but these rims are...

BMS-029 - Tesla Must Do Better

    My 2014 Model S died again… needs a 3rd HV battery! (No warranty left)😩

I bought a third party warranty from the used dealer; they denied the claim as a "pre-existing condition." So, I didn't gamble but still lost. Third-party warranty companies will find any reason to not pay up. Guess how much I paid that company for a 36,000-mile 3-year warranty? Over $10,000...

Starting to see 2015s with BMS_u029 and 018

Yeah, the dealer trying to get out of a battery replacement of 16K wants to use a third-party shop for 5K. I said no. Almost a 4-month battle.

Starting to see 2015s with BMS_u029 and 018

How can you read the BMS logs? Can they be read even if a vehicle has had a factory reset? I want to know what errors occurred before I bought the vehicle, as my extended warranty claimed the issues existed before the sale (denied claim), but they have no proof. Neither do I.

2012 Model S P85 (needs HV battery), 82k miles, 7 seats, unlimited supercharging - For Sale

My 2014 85 MS was in SC for other repairs unrelated to HV when I got BMS errors the morning of the SC appointment. Once it arrived at SC, it would not charge and they gave me an HV batter replacement quote.

2012 Tesla Model S P85 - the dreaded HV battery problem

Tesla will still give their total trade-in value. At least that is what they told me when my pack died.

HV Battery failure! 2014 S85 with 43,000 miles, single owner car

Oh and 14K for the refurbished battery (all new cells.) The problem is two shorted or low SOC cells, meaning an unbalanced pack.

HV Battery failure! 2014 S85 with 43,000 miles, single owner car

My battery died the morning of my service appointment for an unrelated problem; a few days after an update, I drove it to the service center with BMS errors appearing that morning. This was three weeks out of warranty, and once the SC had the car, it would not charge... It makes you think.

    High mileage model x

Extended Warranties from a third party will find every way imaginable to deny your claim. I spent almost 11K in warranty coverage for the whole car for 3/36,000, and the battery died within ten days, and they denied the $14,000 repair, claiming they would deny the claim even if it were 10,000...

    2018 Model S 75D extended warranty / repair costs

The Extended Warranty I bought was from a third-party and would not cover anything due to corrosion or wear and tear--they can deny any claim they want. I do not EVER recommend a third-party warranty for Tesla unless they explicitly state they will cover any power train failure, no matter what...

    2018 Model S 75D extended warranty / repair costs

I will say that I bought an extended warranty from the dealer for over 7K for 3 year 36,000 miles and the HV battery failed within a month and the "warranty" service contract denied the claim, and denied the claim within 20 minutes after forcing them to start another claim; claiming that the...

Another Tesla Insurance Rate Increase! Seriously Tesla?

$1849 for a six-month policy on a vintage '14 Model S, but I haven't owned a car in years; therefore, high premiums for about six months until it's lower.

    P85DL HV Battery Replacement

Out of warranty, out of pocket. I brought in for other minor adjustments to items of the car unrelated to BMS, and BMS gave errors hours before the appointment, so they diagnosed that as a failure of some cells. Not sure why it failed on the same day as my appointment; coincidence? I don't know.

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

Suppose you want a short-term repair, module replacement. If you want a long-term repair, pack reserve. Refurbished packs from Tesla are all new modules/internals, but the case is the only component used.

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

2014 P85D, 110K miles, warranty expired in January, and the SC recommended HV battery replacement after I went in for a few minor fixes. The issue was the morning of the SC visit. When I got in to drive the car there, I got my first error codes "BMS_w017 & BMS_f017... Schedule Service..." so...

2014 MS 85 Battery Died - need advise

2014 P85D, warranty expired six weeks ago, and the SC recommended HV battery replacement. Error codes BMS_w017 & BMS_f017 "Schedule Service..." occurred the same day I was scheduled to bring the car in for a DU inspection for noise, SC charge speed issue, and a wheel alignment. @wk057
