What's with all the 6 kW public L2 chargers? Why is it so rare to find faster AC charging options?

The cost of a single 11.5 kW is not double the cost of a typical 6kW. Not sure where you're getting that data.

What's with all the 6 kW public L2 chargers? Why is it so rare to find faster AC charging options?

ChargePoint CP6000 80 amp deployment, Wilkinsburg Borough, PA. For a fleet of Hyundai Ioniq 5's. Each port is set up on a 100 amp breaker. The 6000 is also available in a 50 amp version. It's actually not that much more than the standard CT4000 that you see everywhere, and can charge cars...

Who is waiting on the 2024 changes to order a Plaid?

I was backing into work today, and the car kept telling me to stop when I still had almost 2 ft to go. No ultrasonic sensors on this demo.

Who is waiting on the 2024 changes to order a Plaid?

I'm on an overnight with a 24 LR, and it is nice to have the horn in the proper position. I know my butt is not getting bigger, but I swear that the seats in the 24 are skinnier than the used 23 I drove a couple of weeks ago. The car is easier to control with the steering wheel - downside is...

    Differences Between Mid-2018 Model S and Mid-2023 Model S

Was thinking about the FSD transfer to a car with a wheel or a yoke. After watching this video, I'm leaning towards a yoke.

    Differences Between Mid-2018 Model S and Mid-2023 Model S

Been shopping too, but am holding out till next month, as Tesla needs to move inventory by end of quarter. So, there might be some extra cash on the hood for prospective S buyers. I've been interested in the FSD transfer from my 100D, or finding a used low mile 22 or 23 S. Had a Y for an...

Irresponsible thoughts of upgrading my Y to an S

The S is lower - I have mine to automatically raise the suspension before I approach my driveway, and easy exit raises my seat up for an easier exit. The Y is easier to get in an out of, but you can't beat the ride and quieter cabin of an S. If the Y had air suspension, I'd be all over one...

    Final Trade-In Offer 25% Less

I'd sell private party, or to a local car dealer. Telsa is known for lowballing trade in offers. I was thinking of doing the same deal - transferring FSD and trading my 17 100D just for the sales tax advantage, but the offer for my car was insulting from Tesla. Did you have FSD on your...

    Used model s

During covid, I was driving a Cadillac ELR 150 to 200 miles a day - picked up a used 17 100D from Tesla in December of 2020, and continued to drive the same 150 to 200 miles every day - about 3000 miles a month. Car had 41k miles on it, with an extra year or 10 K miles additional from Tesla...

Model S existing inventory and pricing

Still waiting to see what happens after the promo ends in September. Not biting on the offer to transfer FSD as I suspect something else will be offered to move stagnant X and S inventory. Not to mention the trade in value Tesla offered was insulting - with very little value added for FSD. My...

Considering a Plaid...but do you think it's "worth it"?

I would have no problem with a Plaid if someone else were paying my insurance.:D Drove a long range refresh S last weekend, and it was in insane mode. That was plenty fast for me, although I still feel the need for Plaid speed. The S I drove had the 19 inch Continentals, and I thought the...

Want to try new tires soon..had the crossclimate 2 for 2.5 yrs and been good but,,

I had the P7 ASII + tires, and they were done at 19k with 4/32. Discount Tire did a pro-rated warranty exchange for the P Zero All Season Plus Elect tires for $460. The Cinturato P7 tires had a 70,000 mile warranty - you'll never get that with a Tesla. The new Elect tires are very quiet, the...

    Wind Noise Reduction Kit

Reviving - after driving a new refresh S, I'm finding that the new car does not have very good door seals, causing some wind noise into the cabin, just like my 17 S. When I took delivery of my car in December of 2020, the first thing I noticed was considerable noise across the windshield...

Has anyone taken delivery of a new Model S and opted for the steering wheel?

I had an new long range out over the weekend. Got used to the yoke fairly quickly, but the reflection off the dash let me watch myself driving. I thought it was too wide, and could be more grippy.

suggestion for new 19 inch tires Model s 2018

Mine are 245/45R19 102Y XL all around. (2017 Model S 100D) The newer refreshed S cars have a staggered size - Pirelli P Zero - 255/45R19 104Y XL Front, 285/40ZR19 107Y XL Rear. Still very quiet and wearing evenly - approaching 5K on the new tires.

suggestion for new 19 inch tires Model s 2018

That is exactly what I did - I processed a warranty claim with Pirelli as the Cinturato P7 AS II Plus tires were down to 4/32 at close to 19,000 miles, and in less than 2 years. The AS Plus 2has been discontinued, and replaced with the AS Plus 3 . I'm finding the P Zero Elect to be really...

I just had the Elects installed at Discount Tire. (Also available at Tire Rack) Replaced the P7 Plus II tires under warranty that lasted only 19,000 miles. Much quieter than the P7's, but time will tell. There is a large selection of tires available now with foam on the inside of the tire...

    Older Tesla curious

To keep our costs down, we found a car that was close to us - mine came from Paramus, New Jersey for $500 shipped to Pittsburgh. Back in December of 2020, Tesla would have shipped a new long range plus to us from Hawaii - for a tidy sum. After 63,461 miles, I've lost a little over 3% of range...

Drove the p100d, m3p, and the model y awd

I liked the efficiency of the Y that I test drove a few weeks ago, but am not a big fan of the jouncy ride on 20 inch rims. If it had air suspension, and adjustable headrests, I would be all in. It is easier to exit for us old geezers than the S or my ELR. I'll be evaluating a long range plus...

    Model S gets $3K price drop then a $2570 drop to $69420!

One effect of the price drop on the Model S, is that it gives you a great negotiating tool when looking for a used Tesla. I'm watching to see if used long range car prices start to dip in the next week or so. Tesla have placed themselves in an odd position of having inventory cars that are...

    2016 Model S P100DL

I've noticed that prices have been increasing on the used cars from Tesla, depending upon how long they have been sitting on the lot. Some cars have had adjustments of +7 to 10K.. Still, a lot of the 100D cars are coming off lease. Even though this is not the optimal time to be buying a car...

Should EVs Make Artificial Sounds at Low Speeds?

Good morning! I would vote yes, at least in reverse. I almost hit someone when I was backing up my Volt. (new poster, lurking here) He said - "dude, you almost hit me - I didn't hear you!" My bad. Some type of tone, or perhaps a little voice that warns humans that you are backing would be...
