Watt hours per mile to attain projected range

I'm getting a 2023 Model 3 LR to replace my 2017 Model S. In the S, the magic watt hours/mile number to get the projected range was 306. If you drove to get 306 watt hours per mile, you'd make the range projection. What's the equivalent number for the 2023 Model 3 Long Range?

Door opens when car put in park

2017 Model S S100D. When the car is put in Park, all the door handles present out, but the left rear door pops open. I can close that door normally, but when the car is put in Drive, and the handles retract, you can hear the internal handle motor straining to retract the handle. I assume the...

    Cannot disable Lane Departure avoidance

Hi Paula! I'm embarrassed to say that what I thought was a Tesla lane departure chime was actually coming from my 3rd party dashcam...I had never enabled that dashcam feature, but somehow it got turned on. Probably an app software update did it. But since I had never activated it, I thought it...

    Cannot disable Lane Departure avoidance

2107 S100D One or two updates ago, it became impossible to disable the Lane Departure Avoidance chime. This means that at faster speeds, I get a chime EVERY SINGLE TIME I change lanes, regardless of whether or not I use the turn signal or the autopilot is on and I start the lane change using...

    Ranger service still available?

Has anyone had a Ranger service visit recently? I just used the app to schedule service, but it keeps making the appt in Scottsdale, AZ and I'm 150 miles north in Flagstaff. I want a Ranger visit if possible. My last service call a year ago for the same issue (front end rumble/rattle) was done...

Hey Tesla, would you really go broke if you offered service as good as BMW?

I'm on my third Model S. I've had one shop visit, back in 2016 and that was for a front windshield replacement due to a rock hit. It was done in one day, and I got a loaner. I've had two Ranger visits. One for a seatbelt service bulletin, and another for driver's window not closing correctly...

Road tripping and charging to 100%

I travel on business from Flagstaff, AZ to Phoenix and back about three times a month. Airline trip and the car is parked for 4 days usually. 2017 S100D. Due to the altitude change, you can't make it round trip even if you leave Flagstaff at 100%. I charge to 100%, drive the 154 miles to PHX...

    Tire Pressure system accuracy

All good points. But recall my frustration is that the correct inflation pressure of 45 from the handheld gauge shows just over 40 from the car sensors, so with normal pressure drops the car thinks the pressure is below 40 and I get what are really false low pressure warnings.

Does anyone know the required accuracy of the tire pressure system? When I inflate to the recommended 45 PSI cold pressure using the handheld gauge, the car shows...

Snow chains for Model S with 21" turbine wheels?

All I can say is that I can barely fit my hand far enough into the top part of the wheel well to get chains on my 19" tires. Given that 21s leave less free space, I can't imagine how one would get the chains over the top of the wheel and attached.

    200 vs 400amp service

400 Amps. When we built last year, we could have gotten away with 200, but I wanted a dedicated 100 amp line into the garage for the HPWC wall charger. That would have not left enough for the rest of the house. Hence, 400 amp service.

Do you trust the navigation charging schedule?

Not so. Altitude change IS figured into the range estimate. Plot a drive from Phoenix to Flagstaff and look at the energy usage as you go down into and then up out of the Verde Valley.

How much do you pay for electricity?

In Flagstaff, it's AZ Public Service (APS). The Saver Choice Max rate is $13 per month, and the off-peak rate is 5.2 cents/kWH hour. Peak hours are 3 pm to 9 PM weekdays. Everything else is off-peak.
