What is your battery part number? Is it the same as your friend's? The number is on a sticker on the front right side of the battery.

Some of the common elements are battery part number, # of fast DC charges, total miles driven and firmware 2019.16.x or later (there could be more). Also the average drop in capacity is 12%. Tesla has not told us the values or limits of these elements that trigger the decline in capacity...

I can understand your frustrations. I'm frustrated too having lost 12% of my battery capacity due to a software update that imposed that limit. There is no defending Tesla's communication (and lack thereof) regarding this topic. It has been terrible. Given the recent battery fires in parked cars...

I have not measured Max power at 100% SOC since the last full charge. However the kW display indicates less power. At 100% SOC the pack voltage is 391v, cell average 4.07v, 61.9 kWh usable full capacity. So Max power is definitely less.

As of June 16 my batter capacity has leveled off at 61.9 kWh (usable full pack not including the 4 kWh buffer) or about 212 miles rated range. This is down 12% from May 16 at about 71 kWh (or about 241 miles RR) before the 2019.16.1.1 firmware update. Overall the capacity is down 19% since new...

That looks good for you. How do you explain this? It would useful to know what battery version you have. Here's a pic of the sticker on my battery (front right side).

What do you think we should do about it? Revert to an older software version (before 2019.16.1)? Never accept new software updates? Other? There could be a software bug that keeps lowering the kWh capacity after driving or charging.

Looks good for you. It is not clear yet why some 85's are seeing this degradation. More data needed.

YES! I have lost 29.4 miles (47 km) since May 16. That equal 9.2 kWh (12%) of lost battery capacity in one month. And it continues to drop every time I drive. Post #73 S85D sudden degradation How many km have you driven in the last month?

I don't think you have done anything wrong to degrade your battery. Some S 85 batteries are showing rapid degradation since mid May. These examples show loss of kWh capacity not just estimated range. See the discussion at S85D sudden degradation

Your car has half the miles as mine. The 100% range on both cars had slowly declined to about 240 miles. Yet on or about May 16 with the same new software version, both car batteries started degrading rapidly. Coincidence? It doesn't feel like it. We need more data from more cars.

It is possible that Teslafi just reads the 100% estimated range that is stored in the car. No calculation needed. I can see that value from the diagnostic OBD2 port. The value in the car calculated by Tesla.

Update 2019.16.1.1 has restored Max Battery to my P85DL. Release notes has two items: request latest firmware release and Swedish language support.

Call the governor's office at 505-476-2200 to ask her support for the bill. Apparently the governor has control as to whether this will even be considered this legislation session which is scheduled to end this week!
