19" Spoke Wheels with Sotozero Winter Tires

I've got a set of four 19" split-spoke wheels with Sotozero winter tires mounted and balanced. They've been run for two winters on a 2015 Model S, and have about 7000 miles on them. They are in fantastic shape, with just a few rock chips and a tiny bit of curb rash on one. I'd prefer a pickup in...

Tesla no longer selling NEMA 6-50 Adapter

I'm curious - has anyone experienced the geo current limit loss themselves? I charge in two locations, both with the location limiting current. And for the past 2 years, I've never seen one forgotten once. I still regularly check, just to be safe. But I'm wondering how common this phenomenon...

Tesla no longer selling NEMA 6-50 Adapter

No need to apologize! If you are *certain* you've got a 6-50 in your garage, then the 6-50 UMC adapter is what you'll need. But, I'd double-check the outlet, just to be sure. The UMC does not actually require a 14-50, that's just one of the adapters included. As you can see in the online shop...

Charging whilst away for 2 weeks....

Don't let the tone of some comments get you down. Of course, reading the car manual is important, but people miss things. Or they want reassurance from those with more experience. Haven't we all been there at one point or another? If only there was a manual for interacting with others online...

    10-30 or 14-30

Agreed. Knowing Tesla, it'll eventually disappear. And if it turns out it wasn't the one you needed, you can still use it as part of an adapter that doesn't require setting the current limit.

Hey Tesla, there is a need for that NEMA 14-30 adapter still!

6-15 adapter looks like it's no longer on the store. If you have a need for any adapter, make sure to buy two. You never know when they'll become unavailable.

    HUD ("Heads Up Display") Discussion

I think that Tesla has been stretched quite thin with the Model 3 and AP2 work. I'm with you, though. I'd really love to see new features in the MS. Frankly, I'd even be happy with just some bug fixes and minor improvements to software alone. But, I don't think that's where Tesla's focus is. And...

Xpel Ultimate whole vehicle vs full front

I had the front done for about 1700. I was really on the fence at the time, but I'm so happy I did it. It is awesome. I do lots of highway driving, and I was looking for chip and bug protection. It's worked very well for both.

Hey Tesla, there is a need for that NEMA 14-30 adapter still!

I've written into support requesting that all adapters be made available again. The way I pitched it was that the car was obviously designed for safety. And, when it comes to charging, people will find a way. Safely if you make appropriate adapters available, potentially unsafely otherwise. I'd...

Hey Tesla, there is a need for that NEMA 14-30 adapter still!

As I'm writing this, I'm using a custom 14-30P to 10-30R cable. At the time I made this, the Tesla 14-30 adapter was unavailable, but the 10-30 still was. It actually turned out pretty well, because I found a (pretty expensive) cord-mount straight 10-30R connector. I've never been a fan of the...

Hey Tesla, there is a need for that NEMA 14-30 adapter still!

Interestingly, they do not. It was all done in the adapter. Which, I think, means that the UMC was designed from the start to support at least that additional current level. My guess would be that it supports a fairly continuous range of current limits. I'm sure someone has done enough poking...

    Cruise Control vs 'Power Control'

I think a power control could be really interesting! I've often found TACC to accelerate too hard at times. I'd also like a low-medium-high option for how aggressively the CC tries to maintain speed. Could be a great tradeoff for reducing power. Double-points if the car took into account the...

Would you drive with a stuck-open charge port door?

A few weeks ago, I installed a software update. Since then, I've gotten the "charge port door needs replacing" message. I believe a number of other people have been affected by this. I called Tesla service, and they were like "It's cool to drive in this state, don't worry about it." But, what I...

Like many others here I'm sure, I frequently visit family with limited charging options. I've made myself a 14-30 to 10-30r cable that I use to charge from dryer outlets. It's been a life saver. But, I'm interested in a more permanent and less janky solution. I don't think this house has...

    Should Supercharging Respect Charge Limit?

While I am in general agreement that the user-set limit should be respected, I have a question. What happens if I've limited charging to 70%, but arrive at a SC where the trip planner wants me to charge to 80%?

Things I like about V8 software

I can get behind a non-complaint thread :) I absolutely love that the destination SoC is visible in the navigation. I used to regularly toggle the energy app, but find this far more convenient.

    Dream energy dash widget

I also really love the destination SoC. 8.0 moving to the nav screen was a real improvement. But, you wouldn't appreciate even just that on the widget? I find it far less distracting to just glance at the instrument cluster than the main screen.

    Dream energy dash widget

@amallah those would be fantastic! I'm not certain there's enough screen real estate to fit these all into the dash widget. But, for the energy app on the main screen, I think they would work great. It really would be useful to see a well-thought out visualization of as many factors affecting...

    Dream energy dash widget

I'll think I'd need more evidence that breaking down driving vs secondary is actually too much detail. I do agree it feels that way at first. Tesla was willing to break down trip vs daily charging. This is a much more complex concept, and causes considerable confusion, even on this forum. I know...

    Dream energy dash widget

I know, this is wishful thinking. But I thought maybe others would have opinions here. 90% of my driving is long distance. I need to supercharge at least once, possibly twice based on wind/temps/driving speeds. I have found the trip planner to be extremely helpful and reasonably accurate. But I...

    Wall Mounted Tire Storage

I'm trying to come up with a way to store seasonal tires in my tiny garage. There's space above the hood of the car, but not much. My preference is to find a strong hook I can mount into a stud, and use four to hang each tire flush with wall. I have 21s for summer and 19 for winter. The 21s are...

    Supercharger - Berlin, VT

This is wonderful, and surprising! Boy, what a difference a year makes. At first, trips from Boston to/from Montreal were really tough, and required a CHAdeMO stop. With this, there are going to be so many options, particularly great in the winter. Feeling spoiled :)

We did it, NEMA-14-30 is back!

Really, this is awesome. It's wonderful to see this available for those that really needed it. But I think it's even better to see Tesla listening. It's always reassuring to know that, even in a small way.

    What's your home charging setup?

For the first ~ 6 months of ownership, I depended on a shared J1772 charger in an apartment. I don't drive much, and could get away with weekly charging. But it was still a pain. Then I got my own place, but had easy access to a 5-15 only. I was able to use a custom-made 14-30-to-10-30...

    Why is Charging so Fun?

I've had my 85D for a little over a year now. Something that I've discovered is that I really enjoy charging the car. It's fun to find destination chargers. Mobile connector with car now only has 2 end plugs

I've just purchased all UMC adapters that I can, and is generally what I'd recommend. I've used the 5-20 a bunch, and could not live without the 10-30 for destination charging. Sadly and bizarrely, there are no longer 30A options from Tesla.
  47. mattmass

    NEMA 6-15 Adapter Available

I love this list, and would be thrilled if Tesla were to do this. But, at a minimum, we need a 20A and 30A 250V options. I cannot even fathom why Tesla would discontinue the 14-30. I think it borders on irresponsible.
