MYP snow mode // track mode

It would be nice if they put a preset like this on every AWD model, a setting that's makes the car FWD favored.

Constant Unswitched Power on 12V outlet

Option 2 doesn't sound bad. You could be more mobile with this solution too. For example take the power station to the tent or whatever. You would just have to remember to plug it in to charge while you're driving.

Constant Unswitched Power on 12V outlet

It's my understanding that the penthouse turns on periodically to keep it charged up. I think if it's drained too much the car can throw errors? I'm not completely sure. You would run into the issue with any connection to get a 12v constant though since it would have to come from that battery.

Thoughts on Tesmat camping mattress for Model 3

I saw a few posts mentioning the Exped Megamat duo. I have one, and it doesn't fit if you blow it up to where it's comfortable. It didn't fit very well in the model s either. The Exped single does fit and it's very comfortable, but don't expect to sleep 2 people on it as it doesn't cover the...

Constant Unswitched Power on 12V outlet

When I did my trailer lights I wired it directly to the battery. It's not hard to run a line from the front into the trunk of the car.

Broke that damn glass roof a 2nd time!

Put a hitch on it, then you can use a trailer or put your bikes on a bike rack.

    Curt Hitch Install Question

The second battery made things weird. For one thing I could only get all the lights working correctly if it shared the same ground as the vehicle. The lights did work correctly after that but it seemed to mess with my cars infotainment slightly (more delays, restarts). The extra battery I put in...

    Curt Hitch Install Question

I hear you. I was nervous about running it too. I wired it to the penthouse under the back seat, then with a separate battery in the trunk, but feeding it through that grommet hole was so much easier. Wish I would have known you didn’t need to remove the bumper cover and taillight earlier.

    Curt Hitch Install Question

I bought a 2 inch drop for the 1 1/4in hitch. You can reverse the mount on it so that it's a 2 inch rise...

    Curt Hitch Install Question

I just had one installed on an early 2018 car. I had the shop do it, but it seems great. Pulling a 15' boat and trailer with it.

Penthouse 12v supply. Is it constant?

I guess I'll just bite the bullet and run a line under the car sometime. We rigged up a little battery in the trunk for now. It needs to share a common ground with the car to work for some reason. Otherwise I was getting all kinds of strange behavior. These trailer lights harnesses seem very...

Penthouse 12v supply. Is it constant?

I've installed a hitch on my car for towing a boat. I bought one of those expensive Tekonsha wiring harnesses and attached it to the 12v supply in the penthouse (it wants a constant 12v supply). Worked fine. Next day I come out and it's not working. So I go to the store and grab another one. I...

I made a bed for my Tesla Model 3

Isn't the duo too wide? I even had problems with it fitting in my model s. For the model 3 I've been using the megamat single and like you said removing the bench seat cushion. I can just set up the cushion on floor so it works out well. (Basically the megamats are just as comfortable as a bed...

U-HAUL hitch install anyone got 1?

It was priced at $120 on the website, but they said they won't do the wiring.

U-HAUL hitch install anyone got 1?

I want to pull my boat with my model 3. U haul has a hitch install listed on their site. 2,000 lb limit etc. It's a fairly good price at like $300 something installed. It's just down the street. I used to have an eco hitch on my model S. But I'm wondering if the u-haul option is just as good?

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

That's about the same as my experience. Mid 2018 P3D- it was down to 286ish a couple months ago but last time I charged to 100% it was 300. 35k miles.
  18. RyanT

    Loss in efficiency with 2019.32.12.2

I'm in the PNW too. If the roads are wet the efficiency goes down. Anytime you're kicking up water from your tires it takes energy. Things don't move on their own. If it's a heavy rain it's very noticeable.

I sold a few beforehand too. It seems like the last couple of ER's have went south, and I had wished I had some powder.

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

I’d just slow down 5 mph on the way there or way back and not sweat it. I’ve went over 300 miles on a charge P3D- so 176 shouldn’t be a problem. I guess that’s the other thing, you could sell the 20s, get the 19s basically look the same and save yourself some stress.

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

Wow, you don't use cabin temp control, as in no AC when it was 100 degrees out? That's hardcore. I would definitely leave sentry mode off and maybe the cabin overheat protection too. You could probably slow down a little and use AC, It should be able to go 176 miles comfortably unless you're...

    LR RWD Battery Rebalance Success!

Here's mine. I did a few charges to 100% the other weekend (not sure if that's related) and noticed it back over 300 miles on Sunday. P3D- with 25k miles.

    Future Superchargers on I-5

I've used the CHAdeMO plenty of times with my model S and now my Model 3. The West Coast Electric Highway stations are a good deal ($7 session or $20 unlimited) and are reliable. Plus you have Electrify America coming in now..

Navigate on Autopilot is not for me

That's not true, when you turn off the automatic lane changes NoA still takes the exits (provided you're in the right lane) and suggests lane changes. It's very useful since the car will monitor when you need to take the exit (you don't have to watch for the exit yourself) and it will suggest...

    P3D- range?

With 22k miles I'm at 253Wh/m average. Its 238Wh/mile over the last 9k miles and 18" MXM4 tires. That's probably right around the 310 mile rated range. The most I've used in one stretch is ~ 300. I run winter xIce tires and go skiing a lot during the winter so that hurts the average range.

What battery percentage to charge to on trips?

You want to set it to 100% so that if you get slow service at a restaurant you're not idle and plugged in. It's bad etiquette to use the plug when you're not charging and you can incur idle charges. There is no reason to set it lower than 100% when using supercharges for a trip. Unplug it when...

    Aero wheels on P3D+

Yep, it must all have to do with the wheels. I have 20k miles on my P3D- and averaged 250 wh/mile even with a lot of winter driving to ski areas. I run 18s. The P3D+ should be the same way and the slightly lower ride height might actually help it.

    Model 3 insurance rates

Try that Costco brand. I was 39, a recent ticket, in a dense metro area, and mine was ~ $100/month full coverage and 100/100/300.

    Model 3 insurance rates

That brings up a good point. Do you currently have auto insurance? If you’re getting it for the first time, or after a gap in coverage it’s usually quite a bit higher.

    Model 3 insurance rates

You just need to shop around a little. I was getting outrageous quotes too. I ended up at State Farm for less than $100/m Costco was cheap as well.

    100 charge to 300 miles

I do 100% charges almost every weekend. I'm at 15,000 miles and just had a 310 charge the other day. I think the screenshot where it showed a little less than 100% was because the charge finished a few hours ago and he was loosing some range to the vamperic drain. You'll see the full charge...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

My 2014 only had 4% battery degradation at 90k miles when I sold it last year. In either case the 370 mile range would be great! The model S LR package is looking really tempting at that price now, even compared to the model 3..

Dreamcase Model 3 Pictures & Review

I have both the megamat and the megamat duo. The duo is slightly too big for the model s and model 3. You’re better off with the single version. I’ve slept 2 nights in the model 3 now and it works very well. You need to take out the bottom cushion from the rear seat in order to make it fold...

Poor Delivery Experience and Already Having an Issue

It sounds like there was a heater problem and the rest was cosmetic. I'm sorry to hear about it. It doesn't sound too dramatic. Mine also had a small dent and I left it that way for 6 months until I felt like going in. It's not like anyone noticed it but me. Maybe you could just note any...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think Tesla just needs to add a bigger/better battery to the model s and x. Maybe just the new cells. Model S looks better than the model 3 and has more features. Model X had the falcon wing doors and more seats. Both of them have decent interiors considering that they are minimalist and tech...

    UP’s new CF spoiler

I’m surprised more people haven’t commented on this. Even if it adds 15 miles it seems like it’s worth $700. Especially if it looks nice,. I’m not really decided on the looks. What does everyone else think?

Burn marks on white seats from seat heater?

Those seats aren’t even the same material right? I think there’s a reason they discontinued those so quickly.

Burn marks on white seats from seat heater?

I'm surprised how little problems I've had with the white seats. I have 13k miles on them now and they look as good as the day I bought them. It's the same in my girlfriend's car. I also have a bulldog that likes to come with on trips, and rolls around in snow, grass, and mud. I have a dog...

Last time I looked (a couple of years ago) renewable power sources like wind and solar had already taken over for the majority of new power generation. They're predicting the same thing this year. 66% of new electricity coming online is from wind and solar. Planned retirements are coal, natural...

Dreamcase Model 3 Pictures & Review

I've used the exped megamat on many occasions in my model S. When I let friends use on cabin/camping trips it they convert over too. Seems almost as good as a sleep number bed. It's too heavy for backpacking but great for car camping. I keep it in the front trunk. I still have yet to try it in...

    UP’s new CF spoiler

"Reduce total vehicle drag by 6.3%"? That sounds pretty good. I wonder what that would translate into for range improvement at 70 mph with negligible wind.

    Model 3 demand question

US is being greatly prioritized now. Standard Range says 6-8 weeks, that would be something like 40-50k cars in 2 months. Before the model 3 they were only making 80k cars a year.
