    Supercharger - New Minas NS

Tesla's planning map tells us one is coming to New Minas, and this is really the most logical location within the town limits.

    Supercharger - Salisbury, NB

Something about having cows in the background, a Tim's in the mid, and the SCs in front pleases me.

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

Truro would make a ton of sense _instead_ of Enfield (100km or so from Aulac), but _in additional_ to Enfield, less so. (IMO) Frankly, Enfield is a bit of an odd choice. There are big highway junctures within 40km either north or south. I'd say a Truro - Bedford Common pair would be a bit tight...

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

I'd vote for Digby (connects both Digby - St. John and Yarmouth - Bar Harbor ferries to Hfx and points east), and somewhere around Monastary / Port Hastings in the east. Going too close to the end of a peninsula makes the site less useful, so back away from the end by half a battery range or so.

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

Woohoo! Great find. I actually drove past on the morning of the 6th and looked in to see if we could see any activity, but there was none. A little bird (who works at OneWind) had told me that construction was about to start.

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

On a different note, I just heard from a contact at an electrical & construction firm that they've submitted bids for Elmsdale (or was it Enfield? There's little functional difference) and a couple additional SC locations in NB. It seems that after demonstrating that it could make a profit...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

That's a weird one. I assume that in the course of the conversation you would have picked up if he were an A-hole with a thing against EVs, and he's just in one stall, and all the way at the end; not what you'd do if you were trying to get in the way.

    Possible location - Renfrew, ON

Man, SC permits are popping up in western Ontario like mushrooms after the rain. I wonder what the 'rain' was, if anything. (Edit: I know this is not western, but you know what I mean...)

    Supercharger - Yamachiche, QC

How bazaar that it's not on their map, even after being built and switched on.
  11. G

    Supercharger - Edmundston, NB

Interestingly, Brewer to Aulac is just about the same road km as brewer to Halifax, if you take the Digby - St. John ferry. If only you could charge up on the ferry!
  12. G

    Supercharger - Edmundston, NB

With Baileyville, Medway, and Edmunston in permit (and no action in Elmsdale), it seems like Aulac was the anomaly, and they've gone back to their general policy of building out from the existing network, rather than creating SC 'islands'.
  13. G

    Supercharger - Edmundston, NB

The distance between the two is ~170km, which is a perfectly respectable distance for a sparse network. I would think Woodstock would be higher priority, since it's right in the middle of (and would link) the three easternmost SCs, and is on a major junction. But Edmunston (and Medway, ME, and...

    Supercharger - Yamachiche, QC

Yes, I know. Whether they couldn't find a taker in 3R or they are intentionally 'de-densifying' SCs in that part of QC, I fear the effect will likely be the same; they're unlikely to go forward with either 3R or Berthierville, since they are only 20k and 30k away, respectively.
  15. G

    Supercharger - Yamachiche, QC

Given the location, it seems quite plausible that this site will take the place of both Trois Revieres and Bertheirville. 150 km to Quebec is a bit long, but not exceptional. The planning map still shows those two, but not this one. Don't know quite what to make of that, other than that that...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Yeah, both New Glasgow and Bedford would be about 175km from Aulac, which while not ideal as a final network, seems to me to be a good way to get things started. Similarly, Bedford to Digby would be about 200km. More than ideal, but a good way to start. (A few exits east of Digby would be better...
  17. G

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

That seems pretty extravagant for anything even remotely near-term. If I were designing the network, I think given where Aulac is, I'd skip Enfield, since it only serves one route. Instead, I'd start with Bedford/Sackville (serves 101, 102, 103, 213) Digby (serves Yarmouth and either ferry...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Others have posted the Wednesday date, but I heard from the contractor (One Wind Inc.) this weekend that Wednesday is the 'commissioning' date.

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Since you can SC in RDL, if it's not too late for your comfort, I'd recommend grabbing a quick charge there and then heading on. There are plenty of places to get an overnight charge further towards your destination.
  20. G

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

I recognize that. Your underlying assumption is that there is a tenfold reduction in the activity of the 'crowd' reporting to the site. That seems no less odd. The simplest explanation in a tenfold drop in crowdsourced observations is a [something like] tenfold drop in activity. Indeed, the rate...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

I find it odd that in the week between June 26 and July 3 there were 36 updates on supercharger.info, but in the last week there have been just 3 (worldwide). I know 'natural variability' can look odd, but I have to wonder whether the SC pipeline is being turned down along with other development...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Good thing the ChaDeMo system is in place. Been there a whole year at this point. Far better than nothing.
  23. G

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

I think it would make more sense closer to the Rt 1, Rt 7 intersection, to better serve N-S traffic. The area around Exit 119 off Rt 1 (Bleury St.) is easy to access and has lots of retail and fast food, and seems a good candidate. If "Moncton" slides west to Salisbury (as I'm guessing it...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Given that probably 99% of vehicles heating to/from NS, PEI, and NL will go past this site, it could become quite important. [I'm guesstimating 1% might get to PEI on other routes or take ferries to NS/PEI.] The population is small now, but 'build it, and they will come'.
  25. G

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

NBPower seems pretty interested in transportation electrification, as evidenced by their self-funded deployment of 19 (?) ChaDeMo / CCS DCFCs around the province in the last year (with $$ help from NRCan). I wouldn't be surprised if there's a top down push to get the paperwork done quickly. Of...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

I believe the contractor for Aulac and Enfield/Airport is One Wind Inc. They also put in Tesla Powerpacks in for NSPower in a separate project, but near the Enfield site. If they are going further into NB, I have not heard about it (though I wouldn't necessarily). Nova Scotia utility adds Tesla...

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

There had been some talk of an electric taxi fleet, a-la Teo Taxi in Montreal, specifically focusing on the airport run due to some weird legacy taxi monopoly regulations we have. I lost track of that discussion, but it would be cool if it were moving forward, and would make the airport the...
  28. G

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

I understand (from someone who should know) that the Enfield location will be at Exit 7 (at or near the Irving BigStop) rather than at the airport. ... but I may have misunderstood. The airport Irving would be a good choice too.

    Mid-Canada Superchargers

Until you wrap all the way around the world (or at least from coast to coast to coast) there will always be a frontier somewhere. The same problem exists in western Europe, eastern (and northern, and southern) China, etc. I doubt a Tesla will ever be the way to get to Inuvik. If you're Tesla...

    Mid-Canada Superchargers

I may be misinterpreting your methods, but you're leaving out #29 Moncton, #31 St. John, and #39 Fredrickton NB, all over 100k, and all presently unsupported by SCs. (Also, Wikipedia has slightly different rankings than you gave, citing the 2016 census). These would all be served by your route #2.

Prawda appearing in permit is very exciting. But where the heck is Winterpeg, er... Winnipeg? [Edit: and Grand Forks, for that matter.] [Edit x2: And not that I have anything against Manitoba, but how come 3 of 4 SCs in permit stage in Canada are there? Is there actually more building...

    Canadian CHAdeMO charging

PlugShare is showing the 12 new Nova Scoita Power & NRCan funded DCFC sites in Nova Scotia. We're late to the party, almost a year after New Brunswick, but this network will be worlds better for getting around the province than relying on Sun Country. Like New Brunswick and Quebec, you can see...

    SuperChargers - Rivière-du-Loup, Qc

For those who blinked, Nova Scotia now has a population of DCFC (ChaDeMo & CCS, not Tesla) under construction on PlugShare. We're still behind the rest of the east, but this is a pretty good network for travelling around the province. (I'll also post this on Eastern Canadian, if it's not there...

    SuperChargers - Rivière-du-Loup, Qc

Sweet, thanks for the map. My girls will be a great age to make pinhole cameras and geek out with their dad by then. Let's hope for a clear day.

    Supercharger - Woburn, MA

I used to work right there on Forbes Road. That would have been handy indeed. (Although during rush hour, those few hundred meters could take an astonishingly long time).
  36. G

    Supercharger - Woburn, MA

I would guess that the activity is driven by M3 reservation densities, since the installations will probably take a couple of years to all get built out. My understanding is that location based delivery priority (after just doing local/employee/Tesla VIPs) will go pretty much by reservation date.
  37. G

    Mid-Canada Superchargers

It is my understanding (I work with our utility and others who have reason to be informed) that that map is very rough, and final network design, let alone specific site selection, is still a discussion. But you're right, there will probably be something more concrete made public shortly.

    Mid-Canada Superchargers

Very exciting news, mid-Canada. Now we just need to see some action in the Maritimes. I know several entities (towns, malls) who have contacted Tesla about being site hosts, but I haven't hear of any actual progress beyond that.
  39. G

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

It is absolutely true. The federal funding was awarded late last year and can't now be spent on anything very different from what was proposed. There's probably some simple hang-up with lawyers at some layer, like a contract problem with one of the sites. Utilities are very conservative and...

    Supercharger - Charleston, WV

It looks to me like Charleston and Cambridge are on the 2017 map now. But that map changes from time to time. In addition (for NE - SW travelers) the same WV gap is getting Morgantown and something between Morgantown & Charleston, maybe Weston?

    Supercharger - Brewer, ME

It don't necessarily solve all problems, but the Portland - Yarmouth ferry is really useful if it fits your travel schedule (and travel by ferry is just fun). If you can get to Portland for the 2:30 departure, you get to Yarmouth in the early evening. There are a couple each of Sun Country and...

    SuperChargers - Rivière-du-Loup, Qc

I agree; those would be the best locations for most folks. If a Tesla limo fleet at the airport gets a SC in there through, I wouldn't turn my nose up at it. I'm worried however that the Tesla plan puts a SC in Houlton, not in Woodstock. Their map is not high enough resolution to...

    SuperChargers - Rivière-du-Loup, Qc

Nova Scotia news Of interest to the eastern provinces, a fleet sales guy from Tesla has been prowling around Halifax in a dusty/salty S with Ontario plates. We sent up a meeting for him with NSPower, and I understand he's talking to folks at the airport about Teslas for an airport limo...

    Supercharger - Wytheville, VA

I think it's fair and functional to say that on I-81 South the next stop is Knoxville TN on I-40 at about 195 miles. I assume that another SC on I-81 at about the I-26 interchange (Colonial Heights?) will be hot on the heels of this one and Lexington to split that distance in two.
  46. G

    Supercharger - Augusta ME

Very pleased to see progress NorthEastward. I know Nova Scotia is a looooong way off, but with this and Bangor, you could just get to the St. John - Digby ferry.
  47. G

    Western Canada Superchargers

There are at present no manufacturers of multi-head ChaDeMo chargers (that I know of). There are dual head ChaDeMo - SAE units, but they can only use one chordset at a time. In my opinion, the correct way to bill for DC-FC, if you intend to bill, is by time. And make it much more expensive...

    Western Canada Superchargers

Good explanation. So Westbank or something on the western edge of West Kelowna would have been closer to more heavily traveled routes.
  49. G

    Western Canada Superchargers

It seems like a sensible location to me (some guy who's never driven through that area, so add salt to taste), being at a (locally) major intersection -Rt33/Rt97, and being within a single charge range of Hope, Kamloops, and Revelstoke. If we assume that the area will continue to be populated...

    Supercharger - Tannersville, PA

Obviously there are many many factors that go into SC siting decisions, but I would have thought that given SC locations in Binghamton and Allentown, a locations around Scranton or Wilkes-Barre would have made more sense. I suppose if this the the first of a string along the I80 then it will...
