    FSD Beta v11.x

I’ve long said that Tesla needs to have the car plot multiple routes as it is driving in anticipation of possibly missing a turn or unexpected road closures forcing a deviation from the expected route. This video has a great example of why as the Tesla waits way too long to get into a turn lane...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Just got a software update for my car. We’ll see if it’s 11.4 once it’s done installing.

    FSD Beta v11.x

good news is that I’m no longer cancelling inane lane changes nearly as much as I used to on versions prior to 11.3.6(?). Bad news is that now my car occasionally takes waaaaaay too long to change into a turn lane while slowing down. This impedes people traveling behind me. It’s not really super...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Yeah, that is called the wave of death. Lots of accidents caused by people stopping in one lane and waving someone waiting to turn onto or off of the street, directly into a car in an adjacent lane that was driving at speed. If you’re going to take those gaps, always always always do so...

    FSD Blows Through Stop Signs

The problem is that it is harder than you think to have it properly stop at every stop sign without it also improperly stopping for an erroneously perceived stop sign. Frenchie had vids where in Chicago they have two stop signs, one on each end of the intersection, and the Tesla would try to...

Tesla FSD 10.69.3.1 going to wide release now

Had my first real opportunity to use it on a decent distance drive from the South Bay to the Ahmanson Theater, and then to the El Chato Taco Truck, and then back to the South Bay yesterday, and the Beta did a nearly flawless job and NoAP was great as well. A couple of disengagements, but those...

    FSD Beta 10.69

DT had some of the best roundabout behavior I’ve seen from beta. Excellent drive up to that point, and then a bunch of weird slowdowns requiring foot on go pedal interventions to keep from impeding drivers behind the car, lol.
  8. M

    FSD Beta 10.69

I really hope the merge means that they’ll put in a toggle to confirm lane changes for the Beta like NoAP has, lol. The dumb lane changes Beta tries to make sometimes astound me.

    FSD Beta 10.69

FSD handles my suburban area really well now (outside of parking lots). It always did, but it’s to the point where if I for some reason had to drive while disabled in some way I’d have confidence in the car making it to the destination without any issues besides maybe annoying other drivers by...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

another UPL video from Chuck for the 69.2 version. 100 percent success today, but mostly low traffic scenarios. Interesting on turn number 4 or 5 where there was a car making an UPL ahead of Chuck’s car, and you can see how far the human driver crept up to see traffic coming from the left, which...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Car stops short of a stop sign for a car that the driver didn’t see. Not really necessary to stop that far back since there wasn’t really a risk of an imminent collision, imo, could have just slowed and cautiously approached the stop line, but still impressive that the Tesla saw the other car...
  12. M

    FSD Beta 10.69

Some moron turns into the wrong lane. Beta brakes immediately, but this guy should be holding his steering wheel and should have been ready to swerve to the right if the idiot kept going.
  13. M

    FSD Beta 10.69

some interesting turns here in heavy traffic. Beta did most of them well. It did fail a left turn and just go right at a different, slightly more irregular intersection later in the vid, but then did it well on the next attempt. Kind of a weird one at the end where it properly saw a gap and...
  14. M

    FSD Beta 10.69

Impressive. That situation would have had me as a human giving up on the left and just turning right in front of the pickup leaving the gap for an eventual U-turn when I could make it over to the left lane. Chuck has some guts.
  15. M

    FSD Beta 10.69

Thats so interesting. In California you can use center turn lanes to start and to complete left turns. I had no idea that other states don’t allow you to use it to complete left turns.

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Kim has a super screwed up version of Chuck’s UPL. Lmao. I’m not sure what version she’s on here, but I’m assuming it’s the newest version. The car has no idea how to do it right now, I don’t think.
  17. M

    FSD Beta 10.69

Yep. The vast majority of my interventions aren’t due to an imminent collision or anything dangerous; they’re just to keep the car from changing lanes in the wrong direction with a turn upcoming in less than a quarter mile, sometimes within a few hundred feet. Turn signal comes on to change...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Interesting stuff. Car is super cautious on that UPL at the end, taking a looooong time. Also its creep tolerance is just beyond the comfort level for a human, imo. You could see how closely passing cars were displayed in relation to the creep line. Sure, there might be enough space for cars to...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

The impressive part was the car handling roundabouts at all that conflict with the map data. It was vision overriding map. And I noted that it was a screwup in my original post.

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Super impressive UPLs. One was very very iffy since it was taking so long with a car incoming, but it looked like it would have barely cleared the lane the car was in before it got there even if Chuck hadn’t intervened. But it wouldn’t have been comfortable for either driver. The oncoming car...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Impressive drive from Chuck. It is looking like there are general improvements to all UPLs in Chuck’s area and not just that one turn. One bad roundabout where it cut off a car, but it was a slow speed area and it is worth noting that the roundabouts are totally new and not yet mapped and yet...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Interesting drone footage Chuck took of Tesla’s car supposedly testing out the next FSD update handling his UPL. No way to know what is being done by the car or what is being done by the driver since it is all exterior footage, but It is fairly likely most of it was being done by the car. The...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Huh, apt title for the vid since I have never seen this before. The car comes up to an intersection and stops at a red light with the lane closed in the other side and re-routes while sitting at the red light to avoid the closed road.

Cool. Dumbass has his hands off the wheel, hits a curb and grabs the wheel after. Then proceeds to let go of the wheel again. Lmao.

    FSD Beta 10.12

I’m actually impressed with how Beta handled underground scenarios even though it was clearly lost and had no idea where it was. Drove based on visuals despite the GPS being lost. Still clearly a lot of work to do but a small step forward.

    FSD Beta 10.12

One thing I noticed today that I’m super happy about: they restored the ability to change your speed to the speed limit (plus whatever your offset is set to) by tapping the speed limit sign on the screen. Yes! I was pretty annoyed when they took that away since there were times I would scroll...

    FSD Beta 10.12

I had some fun sitting in a decently busy parking lot yesterday night just watching the screen and seeing what the car was displaying. I was pretty impressed with how much it was showing and was pretty surprised at how well it tracked dimly lit people a couple of lanes away way off to the side...

    FSD Beta 10.12

It’s still a very useful quality of life improvement for me. I used to use TACC on my Volt all the time even on surface streets because I enjoyed letting the car handle the minutia of keeping pace with the car in front of me. I of course was always really to hit the gas or the brake if the car...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

DT had a good drive on 10.12.2. Basically 0 intervention, but he did let the car struggle through a couple of times when it wasn’t really affecting anyone else.

    What happens after 3 strikes?

Got a couple of “Pay attention to the road” alerts the last couple of days and couldn’t figure out why. I kept having to disengage and then re-engage FSD to avoid a first ever lockout. I had my hand on the wheel, eyes on the road, and wasn’t getting the blue flashes before getting the alert...

    FSD Beta 10.12

Slight gripe is that the new version has the visual snap back to the original orientation very quickly after adjusting it to see the cars being rendered after you stop touching the screen. Before, I could rotate the visual and get a few seconds before it would snap back to the original orientation.
  32. M

    FSD Beta 10.12

Yep, just got my update notification too. Looks like it’s going wide.

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Of note, it seems like Tesla has finally turned off the flag that had the car treating yield signs at roundabouts as stop signs. There was an earlier vid that showed perfect yield behavior at a roundabout, and in DT’s newest vid his car handled two roundabouts perfectly as well. Now to see if...

    FSD Beta 10.12

Very much hoping Chuck gets his car back soon so we can see if the car uses medians well for unprotected lefts. My bet is that it will work maybe 25% of the time at best with the rest being some stressful attempts, but it would be wonderful to see the car using the median well. No video I’ve...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

handled the roundabout pretty well. It yielded properly. The car pulling out in front was interesting. The car was displaying the car changing orientation and it looked like it was displaying it starting to encroach into the road, but didn’t have it highlighted in blue to indicate it was...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Some bugs that might keep this from A wider release. Looks like the FSD chip crashed and wouldn’t re-enable for a while. Also had the touch screen go unresponsive for a little bit. Unfortunate, since I’d like to see the new graphics on my car ASAP, but I guess I’ll survive the wait somehow m

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

huh, first vid I can remember from Mars where he had commentary. At 3:50 pretty impressive job moving around a double parked Amazon van with some traffic around. Probably a bit flukey, but it did handle it. The more correct thing to do would have probably been to stop further away from the van...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

18:50 - the screen is depicting a car that is waaaaay far off from the Tesla in the distance. Clearly they’re showing cars on the screen that are much, much further away than they did before.

    FSD Beta 10.12

Yeah, a guy driving one of those three wheeled motorcycles blew a tire/lost a wheel and careened across the highway directly into Chuck’s rear quarter panel. Unfortunately the cyclist died. Nothing Chuck could have done (the dash cam vid shows that) and he is physically fine, but being involved...

Very curious to see how well the car uses medians to complete left turns.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Elon mentioned lithium mining as a money printing machine. You’d have to think if he really thinks that he’d be looking to use some of that cash to make Tesla even more vertically integrated.

Boring Company Prepares to Dig in Vegas

As I understand it, they aren’t looking to accommodate the people wandering the strip, seeing the sights, and moseying on into whatever casino catches their fancy as I’m sure a lot of those 17,700 people are doing. They’re targeting people who know exactly where they want to go who don’t want to...

That would be a great proof of concept if it can let people avoid the traffic on the Strip efficiently.

Jeesh, is it just me or does everyone sound pretty upbeat on this call? No one sounds exhausted like on previous calls, from my memory, anyway.
