    Speakers Upgrade

Ahh.....I thought it looked familiar! I just couldn't remember where I'd seen it. At least we now have a 2nd source.

    Speakers Upgrade

Check out T Sportline's subwoofer and amp upgrade. They provide a dual voice coil sub driver with a beefy magnet and a 300 watt (150 w/ch since it's a dual voice coil driver) amplifier. Install looks fairly straightforward. One thing I'd do differently is to line the plastic sub box with some...

Tint xPEL XR PLUS - Blue Hue to it...

This is an important point. When evaluating solar film, look at the Total Solar Heat Rejection (TSER). With the better films, at 80% you'll usually see about 49-50% TSER. As you get darker, the TSER doesn't increase significantly. A 50% film won't have much higher than 60% TSER. But now you've...

Tint xPEL XR PLUS - Blue Hue to it...

I've had darkish tint in the past on a Jeep Cherokee. It made seeing at night too difficult. If I were to tint the windshield at all, I'd probably just stick with the 80%. Even at 80%, on our hot 110° days in the summers, I can feel the difference in the amount of heat hitting my forearm when...

Tint xPEL XR PLUS - Blue Hue to it...

80% Crystalline does not look very dark at all. I have it on my side windows. I'm kind of loathe to installing tint on my windshield because most will cause rainbows with polarized sunglasses. Plus as I get older, seeing at night has become more difficult. And I live in an area that has no...

    Apple music Login Issues

YEP. That's what I found. My wife hasn't registered for her free Apple music yet on her iPhone. I don't think she registered for her Tesla premium audio account either (or whatever they call the subscription for Tesla). So if she gets into the car before I do, the easy entry toggles to her and...

    Model Y Suspension Suggestions

Tesla, like any other business, will look for a way to cut costs by denying coverage by any means possible. If you've modified your suspension and they can plausibly claim that the modification affected the part you are seeking warranty coverage on, you're likely out of luck. It stinks, but...

    Model Y Suspension Suggestions

The point is, what's your recourse if Tesla denies warranty coverage? Unfortunately Tesla doesn't have to "prove" anything. The burden is on you the consumer. You would most likely have to litigate the matter. Good luck with that.

    Model Y Suspension Suggestions

Magnuson Moss is a toothless law. Let's say you mod your suspension and there's an issue. Tesla denies warranty coverage. You should "Magnussen Moss!!!". Tesla tells to go pound sand. Now your only option is to hire a $450-650/hr attorney to go and litigate the matter. It will take a year or...

    Model Y Suspension Suggestions

I think Tesla might void any warranty on the suspension and things associated with the suspension. More worrying would be if they voided the warranty on the drive units due to a suspension change out.

Vendor Model Y Premium Fully Forged Wheels by Atomic Wheels

I'm thinking about the AW01's in 18" for our 2022 MY LR7. Your website shows 18" X 8" with +25 offset or 18" x 8.5" with +35 offset. Which one is correct for a tire that's equivalent to the diameter and load rating of my existing OEM tires for the Geminis? And is there going to be another...

HepaKing Alpine carbon fiber DP series series speaker / subwoofer set review

Tesla is one of the few automakers who set up the soundstage to be in front of you. Most companies set the sound stage to be behind your head it seems, which is just plain wrong.

HepaKing Alpine carbon fiber DP series series speaker / subwoofer set review

Did you or anyone else install the rear subwoofer driver upgrade? How much of a difference did the new sub driver make? Another forum member did the HepaKing Alpine speaker pkg in the front and went with Orella Acoustics sub and amp package.

What's your Wh/mi and how do you do it? Any tips?

262 Wh/mi over the last 10k mi. I'm surprised it's not higher since it's well over 90° and even over 100° just about every day in the summer. Even now we're still seeing mid-80° temps. In the winter it gets down to the 30's. And at least 2/3 of the time we have our three 12 yr old boys in the car.

Tint xPEL XR PLUS - Blue Hue to it...

I don't have the windows in our MYLR tinted yet. But I can can tell you that compared to my Subaru Ascent with 80% 3M Crystalline on it, in direct sun the Ascent is much cooler than the Tesla. It's typically over 100° daily here, and I can definitely feel the heat in the Tesla much more than in...

    Charging Error Alerts

Thanks. I do in fact have the Cable Organizer for the Mobile Connector. Great tip about checking the receptacle. I've found that in my kitchen, the electrician used the push in connections. AFAIK, the outdoor outlet (a GFCI unit), is just a standard Leviton. What do you suggest I replace it...

Does anyone here use a Garmin GPS to replace / supplement the native navigation?

I have a Garmin RV770 that I repurpose from my F450, when I'm not using it to tow my fifth wheel. It's great because it generally never loses signal. Also having a second display allows me to run with one display zoomed in and the other zoomed out, which is useful when I'm somewhere where...

    Charging Error Alerts

I've had an error message indicating that charging has stopped that pops up every so often for the past couple of weeks. My car is being charged using the mobile connector on a 15 amp circuit. One time the message stated that the voltage was too low. So I took a look at the mobile connector and...

Tein EnduraPro Plus adjustable shock absorbers fitted

Has anyone installed the optional EDFC ACTIVE PRO Controller Kit with their shocks? It almost sounds like the kit turns the shocks into something akin to an active suspension.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the Easy Entry setup. I'm going to play around with the settings.

    Apple music Login Issues

I'm not sure other than to make sure your name is on the screen when you enter the vehicle. I've noticed that with the last couple of updates, my phone doesn't work as a key when I first walk up to the car. I have to manually open the Tesla app on my iPhone first, and then the door will unlock...

    Apple music Login Issues

One thing I discovered, is that sometimes the car still registers the previous driver. In my case, my wife is the primary driver so when I get in, for some reason the car doesn't show my name on the display. When that happens, I'm not logged into my Apple Music account.

Model Y Speaker upgrade in a 2022 car. Mid range, Doors and Subwoofer.

Have you added any sort of sound deadening to the doors like CLD tiles or Dynamat? That would probably help as well.

    Apple music Login Issues

Yep, this was happening to me every time the Tesla software updated. More recently, it's been happening every time I get in the car. Super annoying.

It was happening to me every time there was a software update. Now it seems to happen more often. It's really annoying.

Model Y Speaker upgrade in a 2022 car. Mid range, Doors and Subwoofer.

Ugh, that's disappointing to hear. For that kind of $$$, one would hope to hear a dramatic difference! Hopefully the subwoofer will help.

Tesla Model Y Subwoofer Enclosed Box 10"

I would use that enclosure with a JL 10 TW3 if you're going to use an external amp. The TW3 is a Dual Voice Coil 4 ohm unit vs the oem is a 2 ohm. But if you're using an external amp, that shouldn't be an issue. I modelled the 10 TW3 with WinISD using a 0.5 cu ft enclosure, and this driver had...

Model Y Speaker upgrade in a 2022 car. Mid range, Doors and Subwoofer.

None of those systems list their specs, especially Thiel parameters. However I'd venture that the Orella Acoustics system likely offers better bass primarily due to the extra power from the separate amp.

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Yeah Apple Music is something like 64 kbps. Awful. I think Tidal offers a high bit rate though. But that's another subscription.

    Roof Sun Shade - recommendations?

The one I have is no longer sold, but I think they're all pretty much the same. I got it from Amazon for something like $60 or less.

Orella Acoustics Subwoofer upgrade? .... NVX, HEPAKING,HANSSHOW, Light Harmonic.. what's your "TRUE" experience

I like how you mixed the HepaKing system with the Orella sub package. The Orella sub package utilizes what looks like a Hertz dual voice coil sub, that's a match for the factory dual voice coil setup. How would you quantify the improvement in the low bass? That sub amp has to help a lot. Do you...

    Roof Sun Shade - recommendations?

I've got the two-piece mesh sunshade and it works fine. No bowing and it cuts down the heat when it's 110° outside. I'm going to install a high TSER tint on the side windows. Haven't decided on the windshield yet.

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

On my Subaru Ascent with wired CarPlay, if I turn the motor off and then come back with my phone and plug the iphone and swipe up to unlock the phone before I hit the car's ignition switch, there are times when CarPlay will not initiate and my phone doesn't spool up CarPlay. Then even if I...

Can your AC keep up with the summer heat?

I think they are all more or less the same.

Can your AC keep up with the summer heat?

Interesting piece of kit. I have the two-piece sunscreen for the roof and I find that it does make a significant difference. Right now it's in the mid 90's where we live. I'm ok with the sunscreen since it was only $59 from Amazon.

    7-seater Y 3rd Row Entry

From what I recall, on our MYLR7, when you pull on that electrical release button on the top shoulder of the seat, you hear an electric motor whirring and then the seat unlocks and springs forward from the rear. Sometimes I have to give it a bit of an assist, but it's not a difficult to do task...

How does one manually turn on the front passenger vent even if there's no passenger sitting there?

Can your AC keep up with the summer heat?

Also you can now create a setting whereby the left rotating wheel on the steering wheel can control the fan speed after a long press. This is really convenient and allows you to change the fan speeds without taking your hands off the steering wheel or digging into an onscreen menu.

    Speakers Upgrade

Nicely done! Unfortunately our MY shuttles our kids and all their sports gear. The sub trunk is ideal to keep 3 basketballs from rolling around, so that's not available to me. I wish it were!

Can your AC keep up with the summer heat?

It's been in the 90s here the past week or so. I have a two-piece sunscreen on the roof. No window tint yet. I find the AC is not very strong. Despite it not being dependent on the motors AFAIK, it does take some time for the AC to get really cold, and it takes a long time for the entire car to...

    Speakers Upgrade

Ah, I didn't catch that. In that case the Alpine sub from the kit I linked to above might work. It looks much higher quality than the oem unit. But then you'd have to commit to building a box for the 8" driver and Alpine doesn't list the parameters for this driver.

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Just read all 30 pages....phew! I have a spring 2022 build. My wife and I switch off driving the Tesla every so often. Which unit of the two is the least work as far as being more automatic in recognizing a different cell phone? It sounds like the Ownice requires you to go into the bluetooth menu.
  47. T

    Speakers Upgrade

The NVX sub upgrade has generally good reviews. NVX isn't typically regarded very highly in the car audio community, but in this case it's a relatively easy way to get a sub installed. I'd probably be tempted to go this way as well, but my MY is a 3 row car and the NVX kit won't fit. Given the...

    Speakers Upgrade

I ran WinISD FWIW and it shows the 10TW3 will get to a F3 of about 35 Hz at 105 db with 500 watts. Most of what I listen to is classic rock and jazz, so I don't need huge output. Hopefully with the natural gain from the corner location, that'll be enough output. I just want kick drums to sound...

That make sense. I guess I'll be fabricating two subwoofer boxes lol. A JL 10 or 12 TW3 should work nicely.

    Speakers Upgrade

Yeah that cheap flexy plastic enclosure is a total joke. Unfortunately the NVX sub upgrade is not available for the 3 row MY. I'm toying with the idea of creating my own custom fiberglass enclosure for the MY since I'll be building one for my suv anyway. Your sub set up looks awesome...
