Anyone receive their $7500 check yet from Elon's own end of year Model S rebate?

I'm still waiting on mine. Took delivery of a 2023 MX on 12/30, the day they said they'd provide a $7500 credit. Anonymous person from Tesla who responds to text messages indicated that all deliveries of MX made on 12/30 and 12/31 would be receiving a check.

    Inventory of 4680 Model Y's

FYI, the MY now qualifies for price ceiling of $80,000.00. I'd expect Elon to start to raise the prices above the $55,000 line.

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

I have a feeling that if pricing changed on the day you took delivery, you may get a surprise back from Tesla. Those of us who took delivery during the final week of 2022 will probably not be so lucky.

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

Honestly, this has nothing to do with Biden and Tesla. The cap for getting "up to" $7,500 in a tax credit is a purchase price of $55,000. The cost of nearly every Tesla was in excess of this amount until today's price drop. Elon has just pulled the trigger on what he said he'd be focusing on...

12v battery must be replaced soon

Received the warning yesterday - out of the blue - to replace the 12V soon. Earliest I can get in to the Tampa Service Center is mid-September. Car was delivered March 2018 and has a VIN within the first 5000 made. Other than the ac smell, this is the first issue we've had with it (17,000...

    Matching Campers

We have a 23' Airstream which we currently tow with a BMW X5 Diesel. I'm not sure why you are saying they are not aerodynamic, as I'm able to get over 17 mpg while towing at highway speeds. The Safari Condo ALTO is nice, but small. Only reason to get one is if you don't really have tow capacity...

    New screen UI in Cybertruck

I realize that I'm late to this discussion, but would like to put in my $.02 regarding HUD. We had a Model S85 (lease) until 2 years ago. This put us in line for an early Model 3, right after our lease expired, which is my wife's car. We both love the Model 3 and I swear, it's even better than...

Towing may require differing regenerative braking profile.

I'd love to see TESLA launch some videos of CyberTruck pulling an 8000 lb Airstream from Ouray, Colorado to Durango, similar to the cross country runs they did 6 years ago. THAT would get some heads turning, and give those of us who do tow some additional insights into capability.

    Cybertruck and superchargers

Thanks, Sparcs. With the thousands of SC locations, that's still only a handful of places which could be tow-friendly. I admit that I should have used the "search" function. The CyberTruck could be a real disrupter to the pickup market. I know Elon wants to make this work, so I can see a...

    Towing with Cybertruck

Thanks, Ohmman. My wife and I have been saying since we got our first Model S a bit over 5 years ago, that truck stops would be the perfect partner for supercharging stations. I'm seeing more and more SC's located behind new Wawa's here in Florida - so clearly you can conclude that there is some...

Where and how do you charge while on the road and towing?
  12. K

    Cybertruck and superchargers

Unhitching from the tow vehicle every few hours to load up on electrons is not only inconvenient, but impractical. It will be a deal killer for those of us who have things to tow.
  13. K

    Cybertruck and superchargers

This is the real question, I think, for anyone who wants a cybertruck for the purpose of towing. While it may have a ridiculous tow capacity of up to 14,000 lbs, at what range? And I have yet to see a SC with a pull-thru ability for towing. While I trust Tesla will think this through over the...

    Supercharger - Clearwater, FL (V3)

Just stopped by at lunch and it looks to be about the same as from last week. I agree that this location is going to be heavily "iced", especially during the lunch hour as Chic-fil-a seems to be under parked and there are limited ingress/egress points. At the same time, it's nice to see a SC...

    New Tesla Solar Owner

Dear Dr., start to finish was 6 months for me in Florida. I think installation varies a great deal by location, as permitting authorities can cause great delays (as well as power providers). My sales rep told me 6 months when we first started, so that I wouldn't have any illusions.

    Powerwall 2 in Florida

    Gen 2 charger ground faults

Glad to see that we are not the only ones. I never had an issue with the Model S. Model 3 is a different story. 50% of the time the car fails to start charging, or starts, then faults. If I unplug from the 14-50 and replug to the outlet, it seems to to work. Major PITA, if you ask me, but...

    Powerwall 2 in Florida

Final update on the installation: Today, April 4, Duke Energy installed the bi-directional meter and told me to "turn it on". I've notified Tesla Energy. The panels, rated for 16.9 kWh are currently generating at 13.9kW (some panels are facing west for strategic reasons to capture end of day...

    Powerwall 2 in Florida

kc_moses, My first TESLA proposal was on 9/25. The delays are more on Pinellas County, than on Tesla/Solar City, as the County took forever to approve the plans (In December, they changed the required setback distance of the panels from the top of the roof line - for fire safety reasons - then...

    Powerwall 2 in Florida

Update-- After my installation in February, we had an unnecessary delay thanks to Pinellas County claiming that Tesla Energy was in violation of the county's contractor licensing requirements (which were unique within the state). County inspections were great (roof inspector said the panels...

    Powerwall 2 in Florida

Steve - the driving factor for me in getting the power wall was being able to continue to generate through the PV panels during an outage. You'll want to confirm with FPL that you can do this without a PW2 or battery equivalent. What you've mentioned is contrary to my understanding. What's...

    Powerwall 2 in Florida

PW2's can be submerged in up to 2 feet of water. They are in a sealed cased. Mine are mounted off the ground, and we have a pretty good roof overhang. I'm not concerned with them being outside. It was generally thought of as the best place by the 3 electricians who did that part of the...

    Powerwall 2 in Florida

Steve, we have two ac handlers and a 4000 sf home. I spent a ton of time working the numbers with my Tesla sales person and finally settled on the 16.9 kWh system with the 2 PW2's as being sufficient for the following reasons: a) having at least 1 PW2 keeps your PV system generating when there...

    Powerwall 2 in Florida

We had our installation on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week in Pinellas County, Florida. 16.9 kWh with 2 PW2. It was scheduled for both days, however Tesla sent an amazing crew: 7 guys to install the pv panels on the roof, main electrician and 2 additional electricians to help with...

    Powerwall 2 in Florida

We are scheduled for installation of a 16.9 kWh system with two (2) PW2 for backup, at the end of the month. It's been a long wait due to design changes, but the day is finally quickly approaching.

    Powerwall 2 in Florida

Here's one thing to keep in mind when considering PW, PW2 or other battery storage: when the grid goes down due to a storm event, the electricity you are generating from your panels is cut-off for safety reasons. The power company doesn't want your electrons running through a line which they...

Tesla to Discontinue Door-to-Door sales by Solar City

Tesla Is Halting Door-to-Door Sales for SolarCity Amid Slowdown Not sure the reasoning behind this - as it appears to be more of supply issue than a demand, at least in the Tamp/Clearwater/St.Pete Florida markets. SC moved sales people to Florida in November, once the voters defeated the...

    Porsche Mission E

I think this was part of EM's initial long range plan: someone had to build it first, start getting market share, and force the ICE-makers to shift their business plans. Agree that Porsche just might be the natural extension and the next real automaker to enter the BEV game. Competition, like...

Model X tow capacity is too low for me

These are great points, and I think it should be added that the wheel base of the MX is too short to be towing 10k in weight, or a TT of greater length. You're a jack-knife accident just waiting to happen, and you'll be a danger to me, and everyone else on the road if you try it. Not sure that...

ICEing at SCs and how to handle it

    Gas Stations Installing Fast Chargers

I've got to believe that it's coming within the next 5 years. Smart Air Suspension: Worth it?

I went back and forth on this same question when test driving and trying to decide which to get. I don't have the air suspension, and I can't say that I miss it. The car is so stable with the battery keeping the center of gravity so low, and it certainly takes Florida's speed humps and bumps...
