If its charging it means your repair was good and your insulation is fine...I had a blown fuse on the little megapole board as PG says...top left on the PEM...

I spoke to Matthieu the other day and he related the story - I also called the SC in question (for all together another reason)- where I had previously purchased 1 for myself - and I spoke to the guy and effectively they will not sell it now...because it dangerous....:eek:....so why do they let...

As Daniel said it could be a temp sensor...if I remember correctly it seemed possible to connect the sensor connector either way. I used the way the cable laid to determine the way it was before I got in there...this is just a guess...

Yes I would absolutely state this to prospective buyer - in any event should it fail again, its a relatively easy fix. Worst case you may have to change out some IGBT's. (read above) There is a considerable number of people who have already done this repair...ask Gruber... Secondly the 10K fix...

If you could go for 1.5mm I think it would give a better margin of safety... I have no idea what the factory clearance was but what I do know is the thermic value of the original paste used was probably in the order of 5W/M/˚K...Ceramic is in the order of 25W/M/˚K. Good idea to proactively do...

I have 1mm ceramic strips which for the moment seem fine - the 0.63mm strips that I used earlier were not fine. Its important for the IGBT's that they be torqued to 0.8n/m. Not sure how you would do this with paste, ensuring that the IGBT's are not touching the heat sinks.

A couple of things...AFAIK there is also a torsion bar that needs to be changed and secondly I thought they were changing these fans out for free - as MLAUTO says...it is a Tesla cockup....I'd be pretty peed off if they tried that with me....

Although it looks bad there is nothing too dramatic here - again it is the failure of the insulation that has caused this...change out the IGBT's - as the fortunes said resurface the aluminium heat sink - you probably need to find some aluminium epoxy mix or some such to do this with - not...

Peter Gruber is probably the safest choice - he's done many more of these than probably anyone except Tesla (I'm not even Tesla do them) but if I have to do mine again I would love to try 1mm Aluminium Nitrate just to see what happens with the temperatures because it has such wonderful thermal...

Yes just the finest smear of paste on the IGBT's...see attached photo... I have now re positioned the strips so the IPGT's are much more centrally mounted on the strips - but it seems the 1mm strips are going to give a better result - but I think 1.5mm would be better...

Thanks, yes zero is of course off - but on my car there is no fan running on position 1. Only position 2 & 3. Just does not seem normal to me?

I think they will rival Tesla in a few years, but then just as they release their offering Tesla will move the goalposts again. However Tesla must reduce the time from concept/prototype to full production.
