Not sunburned - But can the glass roof give you a tan?...

I just bought one yesterday, if nothing else, for peace of mind. I do have a White on White. So, sunlight is still getting reflected. I'm no rocket surgeon, but I'm sure that light is still hitting in some way as it would directly without an obstruction. I do have Ceramic Window Tint, but you're...

Not sunburned - But can the glass roof give you a tan?...

I do not. All my groceries are delivered. And I don't go to the doctor, all "annual" appointments are over the phone.

Not sunburned - But can the glass roof give you a tan?...

I have a Jan 2022 Model 3. I have not bought an interior roof shade. I have noticed that I've started to get this tan on my cheeks, and I don't know the reason why. I'm going to go to a dermatologist to get it checked out, but I want to rule out everything that is not the culprit. I NEVER go...

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

Oh, ...I'm sorry, the purpose of your comment is completely irrelevant to me. I don't have car payments, I bought the car cash. And I'm retired, and pretty wealthy, so I definitely don't need financial advice. The whole point of this post is to determine whether it's worth "saving your miles"...

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

I don't know. Every time I walk into a place and it's staffed by people between 18 and 25 ONLY, I get an uneasy feeling. I feel like they need some "adult supervision", you know?

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

Absolutely, I agree. However, with how the economy and the market is right now, I think it's wise to hold on to every bit of value of all your material possessions. I made a lot of money selling properties, early in the year. So, I would rather not depreciate this brand new Model 3 right now, at...

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

I actually used Carvana when I sold my last Model 3. Made a profit. It was very easy. The only drawback is dealing with the 22 year old staff. You kind of feel like they're going to mess something up. But I wouldn't object to selling to them again.

I'm gonna give Tesla a call, about a trade in - see where they stand on this. I'll be back with info.

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

Well, that is, of course, your opinion. I have owned 29 cars in my lifetime. I have owned 11 BMWs, 9 of which were pretty old (older than 15 years at the time). Only 2 needed major repairs. I don't subscribe to the whole "BMWs naturally and automatically are in needs of repairs, will need big...

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

No, not just the cost of fuel. I think you missed the first part of this post. The overall question is: What would you do - buy a 2nd, cheap car for $3000 and not care about the mileage (while also owning the Tesla) - or DRIVE your Tesla for 3000 miles, and letting it depreciate in value...

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

Well, not to dismiss your comment - but the overall question for this post is sort "considering the car doesn't have any repairs." The lold post was exactly about whether having a car with repairs was worth against a brand new car. But on this post, the hypothetical is about getting a cheapo...

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

Ok, some posts are starting to take a rude and disrespectful turn. I would say if you don't see something valuable to get from this conversation, you are not required to engage. There's a point to this post. But I will try to answer a bit of what I read so far: 1. I'm a finance/investor at...

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

Definitely. You're right. I guess I'm looking too much into the immediate future, how much mileage would impact it. Which doesn't make much sense since I 'm not planning on selling the car any time soon, or at all. A 5000 mile Model S, 2012 with a 40kwh battery has low mileage, but who wants...

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

Well, as I was saying, if they go by the "1 dollar/mile", my "brand new" Model 3 will be worth $7000.00 just from this alone, before the first year of ownership is up - at least. I'm not "unwilling to drive it". As I explained, this is a situation where if my kid's bus route was 1/2 mile...

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

It doesn't really matter what kind of old car. Even if it's a BMW, like the other post, I am not going to spend anything on upgrades or big maintenance. I literally would only spend enough to have it run without leaving me on the freeway (like if the ac doesn't work, or if the radio doesn't...

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

So, I guess this is PART 2 of the other popular thread I wrote about 6 months ago. Link here: The savings from giving up your Tesla... In this new predicament, I wanted to weigh out what would be better: Daily driving my Brand New Tesla Model 3 OR buying a Cheapo old car for this specific...

Any tips on cleaning the gray interior liner?

I just got my Model 3 back from the shop, and there was black residue of some sort on the liner. It looked like electrical tape residue. I didn't know what it was, so I stupidly tried to clean it with a towel, and I got most of it off. But there's still some light spots and I'm afraid to use...

    Bad Service Center Experience

As a matter of fact I DO have an update on the spoiler. I got a message from someone, and they said that if it does start lifting off more, to set up an appointment for replacement. Two days after that, I get a call from someone else, asking me if I wanted to replace it. I told him that someone...

    Bad Service Center Experience

I thought about that as I typed it. The second time it made the vibration, I had already made 13 videos. I just didn't catch it because I was late for an appointment. I continued to make 10 more videos after that, just before my appointment. And yes, as I explained before, I've owned a 2019...

    Bad Service Center Experience

Maybe not twisting, but you were interpreting what I was saying in a different way that I meant. About the 25 years, I have owned BMWs on and off, and the experience has been that, when there HAS been a strange noise, where I had to take the car in, they never turned me away. In fact, it was...

Tesla Model 3 SR+ 2022 Sound System upgrade - Possible?

Interesting. Of course, it's probably one of those things where if you "activate" them, it will void the warranty, or something of the sort. I'd be to check the fine prints of all the manuals, etc.
  23. RonKorakas

    Bad Service Center Experience

You are twisting what I'm saying, I'm not sure if you're doing this on purpose, or on accident. I don't care whether I have to pay for it or not. Money is no problem for me. When I contacted them, that is NOT how the conversation started. I just told them that there's a strange vibration, and I...

    Bad Service Center Experience

I expect them to do ANYTHING AT ALL. The problem here is they did NOTHING. As I've explained in other posts, they could have come out to the car and turned the AC on and off, maybe cycled through the different settings to turn something on that I would have otherwise not considered. This is...

    Bad Service Center Experience

I'm paraphrasing. I didn't just "show up" to the Service Center. I went through the regular route of setting up the appointment on the app. They talk to you and ask you a bunch of questions. And they keep your appointment IF they think they can do something about it. I tried to make a Mobile one...

    Bad Service Center Experience

No, as I said, the vibration only happens when the car starts up. And after having been driven in the morning and not touched at all. They didn't even want to come out to see the car. They literally wanted to tell me to just turn around and go home. This is at North, Research blvd. I didn't even...

    Bad Service Center Experience

For sure. What bugs me the most is that as I said, I'm not ignorant when it comes to mechanical /electrical /electronic things. So I did my very best to describe the problem in ways that would very easily lead them to a conclusion based on THEIR knowledge of the car. The fact that THAT didn't...

    Bad Service Center Experience

Ironically, I don't DISAGREE with them about why not take the car apart for a sound that they themselves cannot hear. What I AM disagreeing with is with not looking into the problem at all. Maybe this was one of those situations where you had to be there. I show up, for my appointment. I live...

    Bad Service Center Experience

Argh, I bought my 2019 in Late July, and I heard about those problematic spoilers, so I deliberately got the "refresh" model on ebay. It fit "well enough". Not exactly flush with the body, but good enough that you'd have to look really close to see imperfections. But this one.. You definitely...

    Bad Service Center Experience

Really? At McNeil or at South? McNeil has always been good to me. We actually bought a brand new X7 from the South (Hendricks) and chose to not go back and use McNeil (Penske) after a while. We had a huge debacle over a windshield replacement. It was a mess. There's a South Tesla location? I...

    Bad Service Center Experience

Well, I'm no mechanic, but I have worked on lots of cars before, I do fix some things around the house, and I have put together some electronics. The first thing I'd do, is inspect a component that I know is in the area, that might be loosely-mounted - which is exactly what I described the...

This is the second time I've had to deal with my local Service Center (Austin, TX), and it's 0 for 2 now. 2022 Model S LR some questions..

This made me chuckle a bit.: - You HAVE the upgraded system. I have a STD Model 3, I only get 8 speakers and the sound is barely passable. I'm assuming you're some kind of audiophile (like me) - there's no option other than to install your own system but void some warranties in the process. -...

Tesla Model 3 SR+ 2022 Sound System upgrade - Possible?

Not through Tesla, it's not possible. I've asked several times. And I was told that installing something might void one of the warranties. So, I'm personally going to leave it alone, even though I'm somewhat of an Audiophile. It sucks, but it most DEFINITELY was not worth an extra $7000.00, in...

Does anyone know how/if you can have the "Charging Complete" screen not come up automatically after entering car?

I definitely don't want to give the impression that it's "too much trouble" to swipe down, because it's obviously not. I'm mainly asking if there's a way to automatically disable to popping up in the first place; to prevent it from popping up. I can understand why they limit how we customize the...

Does anyone know how/if you can have the "Charging Complete" screen not come up automatically after entering car?

Thanks for the move. So, I guess the change happened exactly in the time I did NOT have a model 3. I've tried purposely closing it before I walk away from the car in the evening. And I've tried leaving the radio on a specific song or radio station playing - thinking it might "override" that...

Where is the vibration from Loud Music coming from/is it worth looking into fixing?

After "blasting" some music, I noticed a little, normal, "you're-playing-music-too-loud" vibration, coming from the Passenger door-area. I used to do some dampening a long time ago, for cars I had outfitted with a big woofer and such. But this is a brand new car, and I don't want to mess with it...

Does anyone know how/if you can have the "Charging Complete" screen not come up automatically after entering car?

I know the title is a little screwed up. Basically, every time I get in my Model 3 (2022), in the mornings, after having charged overnight, the "Charging" screen on the menu automatically comes on and stays on, regardless of whether I drive out, or turn on the radio, or back up. There's no...

Strange Vibration after getting in, before Pressing Brake Pedal - anyone else experience this?

Right, this wasn't subtle at all. It was strong enough to have moved a small object from the vibration. The problem is that the service center won't give me an appointment unless it does it again. I feel that's not fair, having bought the car brand new. It literally has less than 500 miles...

Strange Vibration after getting in, before Pressing Brake Pedal - anyone else experience this?

Hello, So today I had something VERY strange happen. I've owned 4 Teslas - 2 Model S's and 2 Model 3's - and I have NEVER heard anything close to what I heard today. I just bought a brand new Model 3, about 3 weeks ago. It has only 450 miles. Standard. It has been a little cold where I live...

The "savings" from giving up your Tesla (under Loan) for a Cheap, old car, paid off

Yes, that definitely crossed my mind. I did make a small profit with the Tesla sale. But when it came to buying a car like you say, I really didn't want to buy something that would feel like a "sad middle ground". I was going to either buy the Model 3 right back, and pay the $50k, or I would go...

The "savings" from giving up your Tesla (under Loan) for a Cheap, old car, paid off

Ah ok. Well, good for you. I'm glad it worked out. And congrats on the mortgage. I remember that feeling, it's the best. I remember it was a very odd feeling, to know that the property is just...yours. No payment to any entity. And the refreshing feeling that you now own something that you could...

The "savings" from giving up your Tesla (under Loan) for a Cheap, old car, paid off

Not to sound like a contrarian or be combative, but you say you don't want to owe an entity for a possession, but you have Mortage. That is literally what a mortgage is, so, what is the difference? Or is a Mortgage the only situation in which you'd make an exception. I have the opposite mindset...

The "savings" from giving up your Tesla (under Loan) for a Cheap, old car, paid off

That's awesome. I did the math, the first year I owned my first tesla. I saved about $6500 on real gas mileage (because I was driving the exact same distance, and it wasn't going to change. So, it was a real apples to apples comparison). With gas prices the way they are, I'm glad I went back to...

The "savings" from giving up your Tesla (under Loan) for a Cheap, old car, paid off

Thank you for your support. I see what you mean. I came from extreme poverty, growing up. But I don't think it had much of an effect on me, other than I just don't want to live that way and I don't want my children to end up that way either. For me, I made most of my luck. But there were...

The "savings" from giving up your Tesla (under Loan) for a Cheap, old car, paid off

I wanted to give my 2 cents on the whole "Driving a cheapo car will always save you money/driving a nice car gives customers a good impression" part of this conversation - before it fizzled out. I bought my first Tesla, a 2013 Model S, when I was in the army. I was a low rank - so when I showed...

You mean the Electricity Usage? Yes, I did, but it was negligible. I had a special account that they have for people who live in my area, in Texas. Comes out to $52 a year. Yes, TOTAL Electricity Cost = $52. (the account is $26 every 6 months, unlimited charging)

The "savings" from giving up your Tesla (under Loan) for a Cheap, old car, paid off

Thanks for all the posts so far. I TOTALLY get where you guys are coming from about "owning a BMW with its reliability issues". My reasoning was simple : I've owned BMWs for over 20 years, I've had 11 of them, and I'm very comfortable fixing a lot of things myself. The O2 Sensors, for example...
