Who said Plaid is so good, Plaid+ is not needed?

You bet Model 3 won't fare much better in Ontario winter. My coworker has a model 3 without heat pump. Once he took his family to Quebec on a winter day, normal one. As he described outside temperature was -5 Celsius, Wind actually blowing in favor of them. But for every 2 hours of highway...

Who said Plaid is so good, Plaid+ is not needed?

Well I live in suburbs of Toronto. It is quite easy to find historical weather in Toronto as well as Southern Ontario. I am actually not trying to "bend the number", but to ask for a typical winter day in southern Ontario is too much? 20F degrees with head wind 20 mph is very common in winter...

Who said Plaid is so good, Plaid+ is not needed?

Many gas cars can run 500 miles on a full tank although refilling just takes a fraction of the time an EV owner spending on recharging on the road. There are reasons for that. I do care when range is cut to 60% during winter. I do care cruising with highway speed will result in charging 45min...

Who said Plaid is so good, Plaid+ is not needed?

Your reasoning is more plausible than Elon's:)

Who said Plaid is so good, Plaid+ is not needed?

It is a magic since another company did stuff 130KWH into a similar sized sedan and Tesla did not although it originally intended to and later on, for whatever reasons (technical or financial) refrained from it. Remember the timing of the announcing Plaid+? Right after Lucid Air's specs came...

Who said Plaid is so good, Plaid+ is not needed?

Well, the problem is Lucid does not have 4680 and yet it has the prototype (or a pre-prod version) which runs 500 mile real world on a charge. What about Tesla? it cancelled Plaid+ with an unconvincing reason (at least to me). Is it because Tesla does not want to make the car or is it because...

    Which cybertruck did you preorder?

2nd TessP100D. FSD has had too many hypes and few have come true. Today it is still barely more than an adaptive cruise control. I have seen how it wandered in a private parking lot trying to find the owner. So I told myself: forget about it until 3 years after it is released if it ever will be...

    Which cybertruck did you preorder?

    Range is king, so Tri..
  11. B

Who is planning to hold off buying cybertruck for months after official release?

I will. Tesla's initial qualify has always been bad. Look at all four models in production

    Speculation of pack sizes (kWh)

I put my money on >200KWH for tri-motor if Tesla is really going to have a EPA of 500 miles.

    Supercharger - Niagara Falls, ON

I'd second Iwantmy3 and Sak. i want nice cars with the capability of long drive. I have driven to Florida twice now, let alone other long trips such as to Quebec. Whereas my S90D serves well under most situations, it still lacks the speed on road trips which take 20% longer than an ICE. Although...

Federal 10% luxury tax on Models S and X

I mean the total amount tax dollar I contributed to the taxman has been increasing at 8% each year since Liberal had had a majority. I am paying more tax, and getting less back. My overall tax rate, percentage wise, is over 30%. I believe tax rules changed in the unfavorable way of me and my...

Federal 10% luxury tax on Models S and X

I doubt the cash stripped Liberal and NDP will let you do that. I calculated for the last 4 tax years, I paid 8% more on income tax each year compound. I am not earning 8% more each year, actually far from that.

Federal 10% luxury tax on Models S and X

All the lefty government did was put its hands on my purse and waste a big chunk of it somewhere else. And now it wants another bigger share of it. And I guarantee it will waste even more. I earn more because I work harder, I have already paid, am paying and will pay my fair share of taxes. I am...

    Canada Supercharging Rates Just Increased...

Don't get me wrong, I own a Model S which I am quite happy with. That being said, ownership cost is not low either. The maintenance package price is high unless you choose not to do that according to the suggested schedule. At least, the Lawrence service guy told me "service once a year is...

    Canada Supercharging Rates Just Increased...

Oh, yeah, you are right. But don't advertise it will have lower running cost without purchasing cost being factored in.

    Canada Supercharging Rates Just Increased...

The price hike of supercharging to 0.44/0.22 in Canada, 0.28/kwh or 0.26/0.13 in the States will prevent me from buying a Model 3 although I am a happy Model S owner. A Prius will cost less to run on highway as I can easily achieve 4.7L/100KM in addition to the fact it is much more convenient...

Car Shutdown on an Urban charger

The main screen did not turn on for me when I enter the car the other day. I can not reboot the MCU. In the end, by using the key fob I managed to "wake up" the MCU. After that, the car seems to work as usual.

On my map, this supercharger is marked as temporarily closed, anyone knows why?
  25. B

Is the dual charger option useful and worth getting?

With all the superchargers popping around, I don't see dual charger as necessary. My car is not equipped with dual charger, however, I have never had any chances to vouch for the necessity of a dual charger. UMC + supercharger + some J1772 is always sufficient for me

    Mid-Canada Superchargers

I think people would expect that to be a non-stop round trip as I did with my S90D and while i can live with S90D for its range, I still hope it can sustain a longer time of non-stop highway speed.

    Mid-Canada Superchargers

I was told by many (not a few) Model X owners X was a pig no matter during summer or winter. It consumes lots of energy, for a decent road trip, not even a 100kwh pack can satisfy the needs. One of the owners I know has a X75D. After going to Mount St. Louise on an one-day ski trip, he literally...

Tesla (Model S & X) no longer eligible for Ontario rebate?

I can confirm I no longer see any Teslas under "Eligible Vehicles", and it is effective Mar 9 2018. 75D base price exceeds 75K, maybe that is why

Mine is down too, although I am on Android. Saying unknown error or vechile connection error

Why are the Markham & Etobicoke Superchargers taking so long?

I'd second Wayner on the point that Steve Wozniak holds. I have never ever believed full automation could be achieved by the set of hardware installed on Tesla cars. Tesla started as an EV producer, rattling the whole passenger car industry. What is its strongest link? Long range EVs and its...

    Toronto Auto Body Shop

I can understand aluminium body is difficult to work with, however service center labor rate is quite high. They should open up all parts, service software (that toolbox software) to everyone.

    Toronto Auto Body Shop

I've had great exp with Excellence 2, not sure about Leon's. BTW, Tesla should open up there authorization to all the bodyshops/garages. Right now, Tesla service center charges a hefty rate which makes it a very expensive car to repair, contrary to what I thought about an EV which should have...

200kWh battery, when in Model S/X?

maybe a larger battery battery does not mean too much for someone, but it means to me: 1. Don't have to stop quite as often 2. I can turn up the heat a little bit 3. I can drive a little bit faster 4. Most importantly, speed up my road trip significantly.

200 kWh pack for S & X considering new Roadster

I, for one, definitely want more range until my personal bio limitation kicks in when driving. right now, I can drive at least 5 hours straight without any stopping. Given highway speed of 75mph, I probably need real world range of at least 400 miles, with some adverse conditions like HVAC or...
