Where to get an decent sim card for OVMS?

I thought H2O used the ATT network? Anyway, the problem isn't that they deactivated me (as I had forgotten to refill it for a month or two). The problem is that they took away my phone number and made it imossible for me to reactivate that sim card, so I'd need to get another one. That's what...

Where to get an decent sim card for OVMS?

I have OVMS but no longer have a sim card for it. H20 randomly deactivated my sim card, so I don't want to use them, and TMobile doesn't have a plan cheaper than $40/mo that has data. Is there any company (that operates in Seattle) that provides a small amount of cheap data/text for the OVMS to...

    Random Roadster Sightings

Whose beautiful orange roadster with black top did i see driving down Fremont ave near the Fremont bridge (In Seattle, WA). Too bad I was driving my ugly backup car. I actually thought it was a Lotus at first, since I've seen an orange Lotus in the area. But when I saw that majestic T, I was...

Roadster 1.5 buttons randomly turning off

I tried doing that but it's so tight down there that I couldn't really get a grip. I also couldn't figure out how to undo the blue connector. The black connector, however, was already kind of loose, and I couldn't figure out how to snap it in all the way. Maybe the loose black connector is part...

Roadster 1.5 buttons randomly turning off

Has anybody else experienced the buttons on the console randomly turning off while driving? For me, the heat, ac, recirculation and traction control buttons randomly turn off (about once or twice an hour). This is mostly an annoyance except the traction control, which can be dangerous.

Open Vehicle Monitor System (OVMS) - Technical Discussion

Jimmy, the same thing happened to me using H2O. I had to put my SIM card into an old phone, then go to their website, sign in and view my account. They sent me a text with an activation code. I bought some more minutes and put the SIM back into the module. It worked fine.

Will you buy the Roadster 3.0 battery upgrade?

It would probably be wise to wait for the gigafactory to make batteries cheaper, right?

    120v charging cable died

This also happened to me. I replaced the plug just like y'all did and it works great. Apparently it's an exceedingly common problem.

Now Shipping: Custom Tesla Roadster 2-Piece Slotted Rotors

I'm getting that sound with the AX6 brakes, but not these custom rotors. I'm told it's very common, and not a safety concern (just annoying).

Wrecked my front just too early for the 3.0 upgrade...

I never liked the roadster brakes. They felt no more powerful than the old ones on my '96 Geo Prizm. They were especially bad in the rain. I had a near miss kinda like this. The only difference is that once I realized that I couldn't stop in time, I swerved into the right lane. Luckily there...

    Roadster as daily driver?

26k+ miles on my 1.5. Been my daily driver since I bought it in January. Still love it :) Though I have noticed a bit of anxiety while driving it compared to my old Geo Prizm because I don't care if I scuff up the Geo, but I'm protective of the Roadster. I get nervous when others on the road...

Saw a white roadster on Lake City Way today

I didn't know there was another Roadster around Lake City Way (Seattle), and I was so surprised I don't think I waved properly. If the owner is on this forum, I'm so stoked! I wonder if he was from around there or just passing through. Though it's not exactly a Tesla-friendly neighborhood, which...

    CommuterCars Tango: A Spokane adventure

I was in Spokane in my Roadster last weekend and needed a full range charge before heading back to Seattle. I found a few charging locations on the map. The first I went to at the parking lot of the Avista corporation was full, so I went to another location close by. It was in the parking lot of...

Trunk didn't close until I used the key

Have you ever heard of this problem? I opened the trunk using the button in the car. Then, when I tried to close it, both latches didn't catch. The trunk is mostly empty by the way. Only after I put the key in and twisted it around did the latches catch and I was able to close the trunk.

How high can you get your estimated range?

Wow SabrToothSqrl, 999 miles wins! Congrats! I actually took a similar approach. But instead of using mph, I used the small ammeter display below the odometer. When the roadster is charging, I can turn it on to see the "negative draw", as if it's using regen braking. The highest I've seen is...

How high can you get your estimated range?

While driving to Ellensburg from Spokane at 55mph in Max Range mode, I noticed that my estimated range was significantly higher than the ideal range. Something like 170 ideal miles to 200 estimated miles. So now I'm wondering. Can I make it to Seattle from Spokane on a single charge? Maybe at...

Roadtrip -- Seattle to Spokane and back.

Sweet, let me know how I can donate! So now the only issue is that Spokane is just a tad too far away from Ellensburg to make on one charge. I've chosen Ritzville just by looking at charge maps and distances. But I'd appreciate some informed input about that or any better place between...

Roadtrip -- Seattle to Spokane and back.

Hi All! I've been planning a trip from Seattle to Spokane and back. Does anybody have experience or advice with this trip...

If you were buying a Roadster today, would you aim for a 1.5, 2.0, or 2.5?

I would have bought a 2.5 if I could have afforded it. Probably in white, too. Mostly for the backup camera, and because it's quieter. And maybe I'll buy one eventually, but I'm also very happy with my 1.5. The benefits far outweigh the minor annoyances!

New squeak, new roll/rattle, worrisome gap...

Mystery number 1 is a squeaky suspension above the rear left wheel... I guess that's something that can happen in all cars and is most likely harmless. And the gap is perfectly normal, according to some knowledgeable folks! Still have something else rolling around though...

Hi, Over the weekend I accidentally took some pretty violent bumps while accelerating. I think I may have even caught a bit of air... Anyway, I've noticed a new squeak that is pretty constant when the car is moving, something is rolling around when I turn, and there's a gap on the bottom...

    Control Knobs for a 1.5?

This. Test driving is free and easy. If you're at the point where you're asking the forums, then this is a no-brainer. I test drove the Model S twice, just for fun. (P85 and P85D). I was also a passenger in it when a service tech mashed the accelerator. Those were awesome experiences and I think...

Yahoo article bashes BEVs in favor of hydrogen fuel cells

The funny thing is, they mention Elon as a detractor of "fool cells", but don't give his reason for not liking hydrogen. If Elon is right and the theoretical best case of hydrogen is worse than the current case of batteries, then it's just a matter of economics. The problem is that articles like...

Yahoo article bashes BEVs in favor of hydrogen fuel cells

I just saw this article, what do y'all think? P85D Review after 2,000 Miles...

I was both a passenger and a test driver of the P85D. All I can say is that the acceleration is far more "insane" as the passenger. As the driver, my Roadster feels faster because it's lower and stiffer. As the passenger, the P85D literally made me lose my mind for a few seconds.

Putting some numbers on the factors that affect range

When I was driving my Roadster big distances on the road trip, I found I could reliably use less miles than the "Ideal Miles" indicator by doing a few things: 1) Always using cruise control. This is important because it eliminates all the little accelerations that I -- as an imperfect human --...

Supercharger for the Roadster (Elon said "No")

Hi Bonnie, Yes I'm new here. Thanks for the link  I should have searched around... You could delete my post, but there might be some value in discussing a portable but cheap ad-hoc solution that doesn't even come close to matching the speed of the supercharger when connected to it...

Supercharger for the Roadster (Elon said "No")

Supercharger to Roadster connector? How difficult would it be to make a connector that allows the roadster to charge at a supercharger? It would be worth it even if it were really big and heavy, and didn't charge at the full power of the supercharger. Honestly it would be worth it even if it...
