    2024.8.4 strange issue (possily bug?)

Software update 2024.8.9 appears to have corrected these issues. My suspension stays in Low now.

2024.8.7 does *not* fix the issue.

Does always leaving air suspension on Low setting cause any issues with the suspension sub-frame?

I’ve been driving in Low for 9 years. Zero issues up until the latest software update. Now the car won’t go into Low. FYI, the suspension was designed to be lower than that low, but after people hitting road debris and damaging the battery, Tesla set each setting to be something like 3/4”...

    2024.8.4 strange issue (possily bug?)

“Bug fixes” is BS. They need to list every bug that is being fixed. We need to know everything that is being touched with every patch.

    2024.8.4 strange issue (possily bug?)

2015 Model S P85DL here with the same issue. Went to put my summer tires on, and jack mode is greyed out. Accidently discovered extra high enabled jack mode. When done swapping tires, jack mode was no longer grayed out, but didn’t function at all. Found that flooring it and driving into garage...

    2020.12.11.5 firmware is released.

On my 2015 it did. It also fixed the problem of the heat/air shutting off every time the car turned off.

This truck design had better be a joke....

How could it not be a joke? The shape bears no resemblance to reported test mules, and is nothing like the pickup in the "bed" of the Semi. The most telling thing is the $100 deposit. When has any Tesla had a $100 deposit?

Love Tesla. Love my car. Wish Tesla would please fix the USB Audio Player.

I put my USB stick in yesterday, and it USB audio is working again. I have no idea when they fixed it.

    Up Lowered Ms Ride Quality

The Model S was engineered to ride 3/4" lower than the current "low" setting. They raised the minimum ride height after someone damaged the battery on the highway and it caught fire. They also added additional protection for the battery. I plan on lowering my S by 3/4" all the way around under...

    Northeast Iowa EV Festival

Thanks for the post. I think I'll come down. My wife has a friend in from out of town, so I should get the okay. My P85DL has the executive rear seats, so rear facing seats weren't an option for me. I went to register for the event, but they want cars there by 8:45. With a stop in Rochester to...

Air suspension always acts like is, or is it new?

My 2015 P85D has always done this. I set it to Low, exceed the automatic lowering speed, then once I get below the automatic lowering speed it goes to Normal. The service center said to turn off automatic lowering and have it always set to Low. It works.

    Fancy new trim??

I've removed many panels over the years as a DIY'er. The plastic clips every manufacturer uses seem to hold the panels slightly less tight after going through a removal/reinstall cycle. I learned early on to replace all of them when you take a panel off. It avoids the worst case scenario of...

    Replace TPMS sensors yourself

I just upgraded my wheels on my Gen 1. The mechanic didn't keep track of which sensor came from where, so all four were in a new location. The car freaked out thinking all 4 had zero air pressure. There is a button saying something like "New Sensors". Fixed everything in a few seconds.

    To De-Badge or not?

If you wax the car yourself, removing the badging makes it easier and quicker. Dirt tends to gather in the tight spots in the letters, so even washing is easier without them.

How do clear "replace 12v battery" warning?

I got the warning. The battery was fine. It was caused by my car being in a sleep state for a long time. Since the battery wasn't being charged, the voltage dropped below some threshold. Once that happens you need to have the service center do the reset. They advised me that when I'm away from...

    Dark/Black Chrome on Chrome trim

Heh. That's where I get almost all my vinyl wrap. Only positive things to say about them. I've been very happy with the Avery Supreme material. Never used any of their chrome products. Not very fond of the shiney.

    chrome delete: matte vs satin

Typically, matte has the shortest longevity, gloss the longest. If that matters to you, ask the installer.

    Key fob with profile settings?

Maybe that's why updates take so long to turn around. My recommendation to Telsa would be to default to the last driver profile unless that fab is not present in the vehicle. Over a 2 year period, I can't think of a single time I was in the car and my wife was the driver.

    Comprehensive USB Bug List

Other than the breakup issue, my biggest gripe is my S seems to love playing 10 or so songs. To make the situation worse, my wife really doesn't care for two of them. My S is 2 years old, and played a song last week for the first time, one that I must have put on the thumb drive by mistake. If...

    Tire rotation

Only reason I've ever heard for not using anti cease grease on wheel studs is if an impact wrench is used to tighten the nuts, you increase the chance that you could over torque the nuts. Rational humans hand tighten using a torque wrench. In Northern states, you pretty much need to use...

broken clips when removing interior panels

Funny. I clicked on the link and Amazon tells me I purchased this item in 2015. I added a backup and upgraded my sound system on my Nissan Xtrerra. Guess I had the breaking issue. I suspect there may be a standard size (or two) for these clips. For how cheap these things are its worth having...

Can I disable the driver seat weight sensor?

If you use a seat belt extension, the car acts as if a seat belt is always in use. It's a handy trick to disable that annoying chime when the car is on but not everyone has fastened their seatbelts.

Seat doesn't auto adjust based off key fob anymore

Could it be related to multiple key fobs in the car? A reasonable behavior would be to leave the seat in the last position.

    Leather maintenance/leather smell?

You'll likely hear people say nothing other than water and a soft cloth on interior leather. I am in the camp that eventually the leather will dry out and crack (happened to my leather seats 30 years ago). I use Zaino Brothers Leather in a Bottle. It has the low sheen and leather smell that...

Bit by the XPEL bug! How far did you go?

I did the entire car, bumper to bumper. For a nano-second I considered doing just the facia, hood, bumpers and doors. To not do the roof, and rear seemed silly. The last car I put paint protection on taught me a lesson. I had just from the middle of the front forward wrapped. 9 years later, I...

[Poll] - Who is ordering P100DL?

My P85D already ticks all the boxes for me. I will be near the top of the list for the sports car. My garage really needs a two seater. OTOH, if my P85D were to be totaled, choosing the replacement would be tough.

Firmware 8: Anticipated feature list, expected release date

In most cars, there is a single wire you can ground and the head unit thinks the car is always in park. Not that I recommend you do it, just saying there is a trivial way to defeat this safety "feature".

Music skipping with UHFS with USB, flac

My UHFS system suffered from the skipping/dropout issue with FLAC and high bitrate MP3 files on a daily basis. Just anecdotal at this point, but 2 weeks ago I turned of Dolby and it hasn't skipped once.

    HOT door handles

Yes and yes. The adhesive has a strong tack, yet can be lifted and repositioned. Use a dilute mixture of rubbing alcohol and water to thoroughly clean the handles. Make sure everything is perfectly dry before applying the film. 2 cautions. First, don't let the adhesive film stick to itself...

    HOT door handles

Avery SW900 Supreme Gloss Silver Metallic film about perfectly matches the Silver S paint. I wrapped the handles by hand, but if you want to make the wrapping simpler, there are templates you can find in this forum that eliminate the stretching and wrinkle handling aspects of the wrapping...

Removing rear quarter window chrome molding.

The chrome trim is adhered with "glue" intended to be permanent, as opposed to press fit trim on all other cars. If you manage to remove it, you will need some kind of adhesive tape to reattach, and that might be much more difficult that it sounds.
  36. T

    HOT door handles

To summarize what others have said. Chrome was the worst possible choice. Do anything to change the color, or reportedly add a clear buffer, and problem solved. I changed mine to body color (silver) and no longer burn the flesh of my hand opening the door.

Anyone else plagued by this? Glare from side mirror chrome

The chrome there wanted to fry my retinas, so I wrapped it in matte vinyl. Relief for $10 and my time.

Can you tell areas of car that have Xpel and those that don't?

My edges were wrapped, but they couldn't do the area around the carbon fiber spoiler in a single piece. It's the only seam in the entire wrap, and man did they get it tight. If they would have removed the spoiler, one continuous piece might have been possible. Personally, I'm glad they didn't.
  40. T

How anal are you about parking spots and door dings?

Don't know what the categories would be, but I'm in the epically anal category. If anyone parks next to me, it is almost always an enthusiast vehicle, and my impression is they are in the same category as me.
  41. T

Can you tell areas of car that have Xpel and those that don't?

It depends some on the color of the car. I have a silver S, and looking closely at an edge or joint between pieces is the only way to tell. Silver and white are probably the best colors to wrap. OTOH, my wife has a midnight blue (almost black blue) Cayenne, and the edges are much easier to pick...

Black Alcantara headliner now no-cost option

I went with black headliner in my last 2 daily drivers. Being that my interiors are all black, except for some trim pieces, the "ceiling" blends into the car and sort of recedes, effectively raising the roof visually. If you have anything other than black in your interior, you might not see...

    Blacking Out Chrome moldings

Wrapping the trim can be a DIY job, if you are handy and a quick learner. My first experience with wrap was wrapping my P85D trim. I watched several online videos and started slowly with the simple stuff (the straight trim pieces). I decided two pieces needed to be redone, but am very pleased...

    Another audio upgrade thread

Cool. I'd say give it one shot, but I wouldn't spend too much time on it. I just saw this in a thread about navigation skipping "In my experience, a very similar studder or skipping problem also happens upon occasion when I play USB music" It seems that either the processor is a bit...

    Tesla's Software To-Do List

If it bothers you that much, you can put the entire album into a single gapless track. A free software option is Audacity. Thanks. I've tried everything suggested on the forums. I'm using a very fast 128G USB 3.0 stick (about 1/2 full) which was pre-formatted FAT32. The reboot only worked once for me, and then only for a while. 80% or so of the time my music plays correctly. I haven't noticed any real pattern...
