2015 Model S 85D - Fast charging rate at SuperCharger

I would kind of count your blessings. I have the same model car and that's about what I get. I can charge to the original 270 but it takes too long. I would say you are in typical territory.

72Amp onboard charger for current models

Wait a minute. You're charging at 197 volts? Why? Have you no Superchargers. You do indicate you're in the boonedocks. But SCs are 440 volts. It's better to have higher voltage than higher current. Is this a very special case? Why so weird a voltage..should at least be 240 at 40 amps...

My S85D and Tesla life at 50K miles

Very close to my experience, Bruce. The business of eating and having a drink of water on a road trip using AP1 is great. I know that people will criticize doing this but the thing is they would do it ANYWAY and that IS dangerous. You still need to be vigilant but it is a godsend. I have...

Blog Tesla Releases Data on Utah Autopilot Crash

I agree. If the driver is hands on steering then autopilot is superfluous.

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

---------------------- Sir, spelling aside. I hope you are as picky when you work on my eyes. Don't worry about the comments. If I were Tesla I would have enlisted you as an evaluator. I'd be interested in knowing which vehicle you replaced this one with. It seems most of the complaints...

    Want to return new Tesla

Let's try some counseling. What is it about the car that you don't like compared to what you expected. Please be specific.

Is it safe to connect a large inverter to the 12V battery?

Along the same line, I have one of those little refrigerators (Peltier). Has anyone tried running one of these off the 12 volt acc socket. Is the 12 volt socket active all the time?

I'm missing 14% of my battery capacity...any ideas?

Well, the capacity of the battery is the capacity of the battery. And that's it. If it's RANGE you're talking about that's a can of worms. Speed, Up hill, downhill, wind, rain, cold, surface, changes in elevation, etc. Some computer app could factor those in but I don't know of any that are...

Evacuating Hurricane Irma in a Tesla

I wonder if the energy consumed by a tesla in stopped traffic is less than a gasoline car in the same situation. Not sure how you would calculate that. What's the gas consumption of an ICE stopped in traffic and still running?

Okay, thanks that's useful. I understand there will be a supercharger at Estes 'sometime soon'.

DC Doc, what's the status of the road direct to Estes? Is it open yet?
  15. W

    Supercharger - Laramie, WY

Yeah, you're right about that. Sometimes this is like flying more than driving. Except you have roads. Enjoy your new SCs!

Found a new use for summon today

I was told I should learn how to park my S in between the lines of a parallel parking spot. I was 15 feet or so away and agreed with the guy. Do I have to go on? Down to the inch.

    Whats in those Superchargers

I suppose there are a lot of restrictions on disclosing what's in Superchargers. What do they use? Triacs, SCRs, Thyratrons? I expect no one would have a diagram..even block? No, I don't want to build one. I just want to know how they handle all that power. Of course start with a...

Actually not that many Teslas here. And all of us only charge at home unless there is some last minute trip.

    Supercharger - Grand Island, NE

Yipee..we're complete across the state! I notice you were on a B standard. I wonder if it would have been higher on an A. Still 30 kw is still higher than the 10kw I get off the 14-50 outlet. I've had my Model S for 18 months and have charged at a supercharger exactly 3 times so I don't...

    Supercharger - Grand Island, NE

To confirm, Lincoln is operational..at least for my car. I charged 50 miles this afternoon in about 15 minutes with a mostly full cold soaked battery.

    Supercharger - Lincoln, NE

Lincoln is OPEN. I charged there this afternoon. Cables are stiff as a 2x2. I was cold soaked and had a pretty full charge..
  24. W

    Supercharger - Grand Island, NE

Well, they may have been charging. They were parked there for a while but we couldn't tell by the picture if they were plugged in or not. But the lights on the top were on on the bays. But doesn't mean if anyone is home.

    Supercharger - Lincoln, NE

[ OPEN?! Nothing official but it looks like Lincoln is online and lit up. Spies report that at least one Model S has refueled there. It's snowing, icy, and cold so I'm not thinking about testing it today. And it's nothing official at this hour. Still, pictures don't lie.

    Supercharger - Moosic, PA

Tesla is absolutely needing to come to terms regarding non-tesla vehicles parked at superchargers. In my neck of the woods there's even a sign that says it's okay for public parking as long as it's 30 minutes or less. That's not a good policy. This was a Tesla provided sign. There ought to...

    Supercharger - Grand Island, NE

Slow in coming, Grand Island will be the hinge pin between east and west on I-80. And it appears the last to come on line. This was taken on Christmas. The posts are where the charging stations will go. The background services are further than they look. No problem when the weather is nice...

This baby was just humming away today (Christmas). Meter installed, showing no load (of course). This site is ready to be commissioned. Somebody at Tesla needs to throw a switch and check her out! 500 KVA, omg.

I got lost in the thread..or missed the first one. I will say that an Omaha service center has been promised for the last two years but it doesn't look like it's happening. There is a ranger in Omaha though so that's something.

    Supercharger - Lincoln, NE

BTW, Kansas City, MO SC (Independence) is 194 miles from Lincoln and 182 from Council Bluffs. Not a significant advantage. But going west, Grand Island is critical.

    Supercharger - Lincoln, NE

You're welcome to stop by and eat some electron pie. But if you're in Omaha, Council Bluffs is probably 5 miles away from you. Council Bluffs and Omaha are pretty much the same metro area..except for the river.

    Supercharger - Lincoln, NE

Just drove by the site and it appears complete..WITH power meter which I would expect is the last connection. Some people out there chatting with some paperwork. Punch list? Is it still possible it could be open by Christmas? I check it again tomorrow and see if there's any changes. Of...

I was just out at the Lincoln site and they are putting paneling up around the control box and AC>DC converters. It looks like everything is filled in so I'm a little more optimistic this will be done before holiday travel. Don't plan on it quite yet but it's quite possible. All's in and...

Saw ABC Electric workmen huddled inside the big green cabinet. They had plywood up all around them because of the cold. Not envious--it was nasty. I looks like at least one side of the tunneling is now backfilled. That run goes to the west from the site and must terminate in that building...

Tunneling seems complete at this site and the transformer is in place. Maybe by Christmas it will be lit up. When that happens it'd be great if you'd make a comment if you recharge here. Just for a few months. It'd be interesting to see how much traffic it gets. If I see lights I'll make...

This from aficionado, Don. Lincoln Electric System (LES) crew is working at the Supercharger in Lincoln, NE today, December 9, 2016. The big green transformer is in place and conduit is being drilled under the road for the main power input cable. They should have the heavy work done soon...

I thought it would be wrapping up this week but now not so sure. It's very cold here--12 deg and expected to hit 4 deg F tonight. That makes cable stiff and harder to install but I'm thinking that the cable has already been run. I was out there yesterday and they were putting landscape rock...

I do tend to sympathize. I've had my car since the middle of 2015. I've made a few trips and have about 7k miles on the car. The reason is that I never had access to the west of Lincoln despite the fact the map showed predicted installations. I never thought Tesla was very up front about...
