Mini-roadtrip: The Mendonoma Loop Part 1 -- The Twisty Windy Road

This is part 1 of a drive around the hilly roads of northern Sonoma and Mendocino County. Much of this video was taken from the cam recordings of our Model S.

    2023 Model S is a disappointment.

I've installed two s3xy buttons on the side of my steering column to act as turn signals. They work great -- I use them when wanting to engage the signals when I'm turning the wheel. Otherwise using the buttons on the wheel is fine. I also have a button behind the center display to open the...

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

Thanks for the votes! We’re over 500 now, but I’m seeing the top seven sites for North America are all in Canada all with more than 1400 votes. C’mon USA, get going with some votes. Yes, back in 2015 when I got my prior Model S I discovered that The Lodge had two 80-amp destination chargers...

It’s that time of the year — for you to vote for a Supercharger at Gualala, California. It would fill a pretty large gap along the Northern California coast. With your vote we have a chance to plug it.

    2023 Model S Crash Ratings

I just took delivery of a new Model S Long Range, and saw on the Monroney Sticker that the car does not have a Frontal or Side Crash rating. It has a five-star Rollover rating though. Why doesn't this model have crash ratings?

I wanted to send to note to a newspaper in Gualala to inform their readers about the Supercharger voting. There was my original effort: That seemed kind of bland, so I put it into ChatGPT and asked it to create a headline and punch up my text. Here's what it provided:

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

The pin at Gualala is now over 500 votes -- this would be a great addition for trips up the coast between Petaluma or Santa Rosa to Fort Bragg. Also I'm see a lot of Teslas in the Sea Ranch and Gualala area these days, so many people are either visiting or staying there. Give it one of your...

    Musings About AP 2.0

Actually, the first thing the officer did was ask me, "where are you going?" I told him to Berkeley and then he advised me to take another route. Should autonomous vehicles have a means to communicate with traffic officers regarding destination and intended route?

    Musings About AP 2.0

While I have no doubt that developers of autonomous driving vehicles will be able to implement the "down the middle" driving cases, I wonder how they will handle the many edge cases vehicles encounter.
