    Pretty good design guess

Just giving myself a little pat on the back here. Its virtually identical to the design they produced. :)

    Model 3 Concept vs Reality

Almost a year ago I posted my thoughts on what the model 3 would look like on a tmc forum. Looking back, it was pretty spot on:

    Thoughts on Model 3 Design

So many people expect the M3 to be virtually the same exact car as the MS but for $35,000. I agree the Model S is a great car and I would love to get one for 1/2 or 1/3 the price but there is no way Tesla can do that. Plus Elon specifically said that they would not be doing that. That car...

Model X Signature Configuration has begun!

I haven't seen anyone mention this (although I suppose they could have) but does anyone else find it curious that they are only showing the view of the MX from behind? Usually it is the front view that is showcased. Perhaps there is a surprise that they don't want to reveal before the announcement?

Will the second row seats fold flat? If so, how?

Aft folding THIRD row seats. The seats first fold forward along the pivot point you noted in the photo. They then pull back and into the recess in the trunk as seen in the photo below. If you look closely you can see the mechanism and interpret it moves the seat into the recess. Like this...

Will the second row seats fold flat? If so, how?

As a number of people have pointed out it is clear that they have now moved to aft-folding seats that retract into the trunk space. My previous infographic fails to account for that, so here is an updated one showing past configurations and what I presume they will do in the future. From...

Will the second row seats fold flat? If so, how?

I would wait to make a decision as well, but I would counter some of your points: -The top-down heated seats view actually shows the same seats (the apparent seam is just the middle panel in the seat) and if you look close at the edges it is the same seat that does not fold. -At this stage in...

    Tesla Gigafactory

Tesla's initial property was almost exclusively flat or relatively flat land. The second purchase is extremely hilly and couldn't practically be built on so it is likely it will be used exclusively for buffer land around the site and for renewable energy generation-primarily wind. The first...

    Tesla Gigafactory

Gigafactory Progress Images I recently was able to find the county assessor's property maps showing the Gigafactory property line and thought I would post my map composite here. Cheers!

Your render lines up pretty much exactly with the map I've been working on. (updated using newest imagery)

    Thoughts on Model 3 Design

I agree with what you're saying. It looks very unlikely that it will be 20% shorter. I think I was ignoring the facts because I have a personal preference for small cars. (past 2 cars have been a Mazda 2 and a Mini Cooper.) I guess I wish they would make a small hatchback like a Mini or a VW...

Gigafactory tour photos with Elon and Steve Jurvetson posted 3/5/15

To give an idea of the scale, I compared it to Apple Campus 2 and other massive structures:

    Thoughts on Model 3 Design

Is it confirmed that it would be 20% smaller by volume and not length? I've been really hoping they would produce a small car, especially for city driving. Without an engine they could easily make a smaller car with plenty of room.

    Tesla Gigafactory

Is it officially 25% (or 20%) complete? I would be curious to see where people have said that. I've been looking at all the plans people have produced showing which part of the gigafactory is complete and it hasn't been lining up with what I've been seeing. I certainly could be completely...

    Thoughts on Model 3 Design

Every render I have seen predicting what the model 3 looks like shows a drastic departure from the design language Tesla has employed in the Model X and the Model S. And yet, if you look at those two models, they share almost the exact same design except the X is blown up to SUV size. With...

Tesla Model C Concept Design Study

It would be great if it were like a Mini Cooper or a Golf.Very small but with a wide wheelbase, great turning radius, sporty, fun, efficient, but still practical and able to carry 5 or use the hatchback trunk for a lot of storage. Just ditch the frunk and trunk so it is shorter but with just as...

I had a similar idea (a bit more compact) myself a while back. Sorry for the crude photoshop.
