So I bought FSD on Delivery day...

If you buy on Delivery Day it's the Invoice price -- after Delivery Day is $4K for people who ordered before June 30, $5K after I think. I mostly made my decision on Elon's Tweet that this Fall v9.0 will include a couple of very basic early FSD features (stop sign detection, etc).

    Tesla going Private @ $420?

I was thinking the same thing. A welcome noise-reduction, to be sure.

So I bought FSD on Delivery day...

Thanks! And there it is -- they apparently amended my original MVPA when I bought FSD on Delivery day. Phew, good to know it's all there and I don't have to go digging for the receipt when the first FSD features come out. Thanks again!

So I bought FSD on Delivery day...

...am I right in observing that there is currently NO WAY to verify FSD is enabled in the car, other than my payment receipt?! I guess I have to wait until v9.0 next month to see if those few "baby FSD" features show up or not. Am I right here? Or is there a screen somewhere to confirm it's...

Non-PUP X Owners: Would You Upgrade to Self-Presenting Doors?

You make a good point: even those not interested in the self-presenting doors feature might still like the feature (w/ auto-present off) for the simple fact that key fob gets the ability to open front doors with this PUP feature enabled. I think that's the case, asking around for any PUP owners...

Non-PUP X Owners: Would You Upgrade to Self-Presenting Doors?

There may be one reason "non-interested" parties might still want the self-presenting door feature even if they won't use it: I believe your key fob can open the front doors, in addition to FWD, when you have the self-presenting door feature available. I think you can turn it off, yet still...

Non-PUP X Owners: Would You Upgrade to Self-Presenting Doors?

Just took delivery of an MX 100D - would have got this feature at $3K cheaper since it's part of base now. Damn. Yes I would have it added, if the price were reasonable. They should be able to grandfather in the non-hardware aspects of PUP. For some people the self-presenting door feature...

New Model X Configuration and Pricing

Ugh. Just took delivery of an MX 100D - would have got this at $3K cheaper since it's part of base now. Damn. Oh well. I do wish in these cases they would at least grandfather in (or offer small fee to enable) the non-hardware aspects of the retiring PUP product. This is just like back in...

    Tesla X HEPA Filter retrofit

Anyone order and use this one? I'm thinking about getting it and calling it a day, but want to know if it works well.
  10. kaiserpathos

Can I add FSD at delivery for $3,000?

We're having the same decision angst: we're taking Delivery in a few days and my DA said they can add FSD for $3,000 without any change fee, and it would only be 3K since it's being done at or before Delivery. Only after Delivery does the hike happen -- and some people are saying that hike is...

    Tesla X HEPA Filter retrofit

No. Air simply flows through the new HEPA filter, it gets used without any need for SC attention. Any software change is just to enable their "Biohazard" button (which is just a macro that enables recirc and turns the fans up). SCs no longer offer the retrofit, and thus no longer offer any...

Tesla is finally going to start charging for Mobile Internet

I agree - split-tunnel is the way to go to keep device traffic to Internet separate from the mothership pathing. Also +1 it's not the best use of their development time, even though it's probably not too difficult to implement. I think to the casual observer, who isn't their market but still...

Tesla is finally going to start charging for Mobile Internet

I agree -- In-car hotspot is not important, it's a perception thing: this is supposed to be one of the most advanced cars in the world, yet one if its key-differentiators is that it cannot offer something consistently offered by competitors (wifi). I personally would never need/use it...
  14. kaiserpathos

Tesla is finally going to start charging for Mobile Internet

Honestly, though - it's patently obvious any Premium option should also include a tier for Wifi Hotspot capability, or it's going to be viewed as a non-competitive feature. It just stinks that mediocre OnStar offers this on new GM vehicles and, as Elon has mentioned before, Tesla has the guts &...

    Hi, I’m a short seller

No, I'm mainly thinking of short statements and theories given by a lot of retail shorts out there, as well as bearish put options I have read about - pretty much anything on Seeking Alpha the past 2-3 years. I think a lot of the short individual rationale the past 3 quarters (they'll never ramp...

    Hi, I’m a short seller

I was coming in here to post something similar. lol I think as each individual short-theory is squished each cycle, reality sets in and I doubt we'll see some of the original short folks in here to say much until the next cycle change. Interesting day, but the true carnage is yet to come.

Did Tesla Tease an Unseen Prototype in a New Video?

AFAIK that's the Roadster prototype interior steering wheel and monitor. But that earlier part of the video definitely seems like a perfectly-staged tiny reveal of Model Y prototype dimensions. It's too much of a statement having the back door ajar, to confirm they aren't FWDs like on Model X.

Why do people really want Tesla to fail?

I don't think a large segment of the US population hates the Big 3. They are, however, pretty much done with how the dealerships typically operate. Informed potential EV customers in the US understand that GM killed innovations like EV-1, and none of the Big 3 wanted to create EVs for so long...

Am I screwed for going 75D rather than 100D?

I think this is a good call -- you will enjoy the 100D, slightly faster accel and slightly shorter SC visits. You'll love it.
  22. kaiserpathos

Am I screwed for going 75D rather than 100D?

I think the $500 order change thing is only within the first 14 days? I know once it's built and still pre-delivery there's pretty much no changing the battery size.
  23. kaiserpathos

Am I screwed for going 75D rather than 100D?

Yeah - too bad about the color. The $10K more for the 100Kwh battery is a steal, though. I think it's about $16500 spec'ed on the ordering tool, so that price savings on an Inventory Model X 100D might be worth it if they found your color combo. I wonder if regional Galleries & SCs can query...
  24. kaiserpathos

Am I screwed for going 75D rather than 100D?

Yeah that's the pain point there, color and customizations of area Inventory cars would probably be different than what you ordered. I had a friend get an Inventory Model S and did a vinyl wrap of the color he wanted and the SC changed the car color in the MCU for him. He was pretty happy. I...
  25. kaiserpathos

Am I screwed for going 75D rather than 100D?

For the $2500 diff he might be able to get a comparable Inventory Model X too -- the savings of which could certainly compensate for the lost $2500.
  26. kaiserpathos

Am I screwed for going 75D rather than 100D?

Battery can fall below 20, you just don't want to park the car and leave it with in a State of Charge (SoC) that is low for a long time. Getting near empty, or staying at full charge, for many hours can (over time) start to decrease the range of the battery. Battery health usually means...
  27. kaiserpathos

Am I screwed for going 75D rather than 100D?

It is. If flat terrain, 70F, no wind, and staying at or under the speed limit I would wager you can get the full EPA stated range. But usually there are one of those 4 factors going on (hills, wind, lead foot, or seasonally cold/hot temps) which will affect the range. I myself am not a very...
  28. kaiserpathos

Am I screwed for going 75D rather than 100D?

I think you'll be fine, but range-vigilance (maybe even anxiety when traffic or weather factors come into play) will be something you might have to deal with. But, honestly, in Range Mode and not skipping any SCs along your daily route -- you're probably good. There may be times where you...

Why do people really want Tesla to fail?

Probably because your position is fairly entrenched by now, as is the danger of the typical shorts strategy (also a danger in a blind long strategy, admittedly). Let's come back here in 5 months and talk. I would say good luck, but I think whether you make a real killing or not - if data...

Am I screwed for going 75D rather than 100D?

You'll make your commute, but you would be stopping at almost every single Supercharger along your route for piece of mind. It's also just natural to develop a tendency to charge at the SC longer just because you have less range in the 75D, than what 100D drivers would experience in a 150 mile...

Why do people really want Tesla to fail?

Exactly. There's strategic short-selling, and then there's whatever this guy was writing. I think short-sellers sounding this irrational or emotional, with an ax to grind, seem to routinely get squeezed every few quarters. Regardless, his comment "and they even call it Auto Pilot" really bugs...

So, sideskirts & diffuser are coming to Model X

1 - Yep, it already has grey plastic side skirts. I don't think people are getting the idea that side skirts are new to the X. 2 - They did this with Model S, replaced the grey plastic with unicolor side skirts --- so it's been pretty much expected they would eventually bring this change to...

So, sideskirts & diffuser are coming to Model X

The Facelift S has side skirts, seems reasonable to add this design cue to the Model X - so the change will probably eventually make it into the X. Tricky part is the lower grey trim is used on the edge of the FWD sills - with a blended same-color sideskirt it would be interesting to see how it...

So, sideskirts & diffuser are coming to Model X

Yeah I was wondering if this was aftermarket or a design change. If not announcement is occurring, then probably aftermarket. The dealer plates have several people wondering.

So, sideskirts & diffuser are coming to Model X

This Model X w/ dealer plates spotted on Instagram. Andrew Kim (who posted this photo) works for Tesla. Saw this in a discussion on Reddit. So I pulled the trigger about 2 weeks ago or so on a Metallic Blue 100D - no VIN yet, so I wonder if I will get the old grey trim on the sides - or this...

Model S/X deliveries with Intel-based MCU

Based on what I heard from my SC, and on the "MCU Retrofit" thread on these forums -- you may be the only one getting an Intel MCU during warranty work. Sounds like there will be no retrofit SKU offered. As an AP1 car owner, I'm really interested in hearing if it actually pans out on yours...

Retractable spoiler not available for P100d

For as many engineering challenges presented by the Falcon Wing doors, you'd think leaving the retractable spoiler option pretty non-impactful to offer. It's the one thing I don't like, the fixed-spoiler that just looks like it's stuck open and should be retracted. Now that's how it will be...

    Power lift gate DIY possible?

First I emailed but no reply after a day or so, so I just called the service center and stated I have a couple of OEM parts that I needed to order and that I had the OEM numbers (the cup and switch are 2 different SKUs). They're coming from a different SC, so hopefully will arrive at my...

Lord help me I'm going to take this on next weekend, if the kit arrives on time. I just ordered the OEM lift gate pull cup and button, to keep it stock looking. Not getting the power liftgate is the ONE thing I regret about the car - and the fact that this works with the existing trunk open...

    Retrofitting LED fog lights

It could be because of how the lower bumper design changed on the X, that raises the effort and labor-involved, that makes it where SCs aren't going to offer retrofit. In that event, I would probably end up biting the bullet and get PUP. There are too many good features in it. No having the...

    Retrofitting LED fog lights

I just signed up for the Fog lights Retrofit, just under $2000 to do here in TX. I decided I really want them after first ordering without. [Rumor] Nose cone will be body colored on the X

Turns out this rumor had meat. I kind of like it on some colors, others it seems to not really match all that much. Front design tweaks are something Franz Holzhausen was probably wanting to do, and they probably will keep this direction on Model 3. I've often thought of wrapping my white...

Cost of power lift gate retrofit?

I pinged my Service Center in Dallas about it this week, and I was told liftgate installation is not something they can do at this time but they would put my name on their list of people interested in this retrofit. I think SCs typically provide feedback to HQ on the most-requested retrofits...
