    Highland FSD?

Picked up my LR Highland yesterday. Same problem, though I have a newer, and .100, release: v11.1 ⁦(2024.2.100 fa23b694c4aa)⁩ I have to say that Tesla transferred the FSD “ownership” from my 2018 Model 3 to this one seamlessly. I was using FSD in the 2018 the night before I picked up the...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I'm just catching up on this thread, but I wanted say that I think that's very true. I just did an experiment with our late 2020 Model Y in a quiet garage. Turned the climate control on, set the fan to 1, and turned the AC on (I'd hear an almost subsonic boom when the compressor engaged, very...

Using the SolarEdge App, how to tell if you have as bad optimizer, Panels?

Thank you so much for that info! Tesla flat out refuses to connect my inverter data to SolarEdge, so this is the only way I've found to find out if any of my panels or inverters goes bad. #SometimesTeslaReallySucks

Tesla launches Model 3 Highland refresh in North America - No Performance model listed as of 01.10.2024

Can 100% back this up - getting it on my wife's 2020 Y involved getting a package mailed to me (the hardware) and having a mobile Tesla guy set it up (didn't know about service mode if it even was an option back then).

Do Tesla Powerwalls Discharge in Parallel or One at a Time?

I have three Powerwall 2s. Each one can supply 5kW, and the three in parallel can provide 15kW. Obviously if I'm drawing more than 5kW, at least two Powerwalls will be supplying power. But if I'm using 3kW, does one Powerwall supply 3kW while the other two are idle, or does each Powerwall...

    Stay away from SolarEdge inverter

Agree you’ll never see peak, but couldn’t a 10.4kW system could produce more than 7.6kW on a clear, sunny day? Guess It depends on panel orientation. It wouldn’t be a large loss, probably less than 1 kWh on only those very sunny days (clipping the peak of the normal curve of solar...

    Hansshow Dashboard Touchscreen V2

Sorry, no. Sold mine. Actually gave it away, since the guy I sold it to said it didn’t work (it was working when I removed it) so I refunded his money and just wrote off the whole thing.

    New Charging Behavior

I had a similar problem yesterday that went away in the afternoon. Can anyone tell me how to find my Powerwall firmware version? All I can find in my app is the Powerwall Gateway version (currently 22.18.3 21x0ad81). But it sure sounds like I'm having 22.26 issues...

    Powerwall/System Misbehaving Today

My plan is set to Time-Based Control, with peak rates starting at 3PM. I have my Powerwalls set for 60% Backup / 40% Time-Based. For the 8 months I've had the system, it's basically worked as expected. Powerwalls start charging up when the sun rises, generally they reach 100% by noon or so...

    2021 Model 3 wind/whistling noise

Just tried some tape on my 2018 Model 3 and instantly the whistle I'd gotten used to was gone. In my case it wasn't because the piece wasn't snapped in, I think it was because I had chrome deleted and the film they used created some sort of unexpected airflow. Thanks!

    FSD Beta 10.12

Has anyone had a problem with FSDb and auto wipers? I drove about 90 miles yesterday in perfectly dry weather, beautiful blue sky with scattered white clouds, and a perfectly clear windshield…and my wipers would start sweeping every 10 seconds or so. This would continue for 15 minutes or so...

    FSD Beta 10.12

I got FSD beta last week, and that exactly what I saw a lot of. It was almost like there was a disconnect between the GPS‘s route and FSD. Twice I was at a 2-way stop, and the route had us turning left. The road was clear on both sides. The car pulled forward, nervously moved the steering...

Clunking noise from the rear of the car finally fixed!

Well here's another big thank-you from another satisfied ex-clunker. I had the problem on my March 2018 Model 3. My bolts had clearly never been adjusted - they were many turns off. I used the trick where you put a piece of paper on top of the nut, close the trunk, and try to slide the paper...

Hansshow 10.25 Inch Screen (with front camera) for Tesla Model Y or Tesla Model 3

Less than 1 year old, used for about 8 months but perfect condition. It's listed here on ebay for $100 (there's been no bidding as I type this). No shipping fee if you're willing to pick it up in Monterey, CA. Cheers, Fred

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

Forgive me if someone’s already mentioned this, but (at least on iPhones), if an update is “out there” but doesn’t show up on your phone, you can usually force an update if you know there’s an update in the wild: Search for the Tesla app in the App Store It will appear on the list with “Open”...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

No, but we’re better able to tune it out. It’s still there when we listen for it though, and I suspect it’s still having a fatiguing effect long-term. I just drove 7,500 miles cross-country in my 2018 Model 3 over the last few weeks. It was so much fun, was so easy, and went by so fast. I...

    Hansshow Dashboard Touchscreen V2

I've had the display for a year or so in my 2018 Model 3, thought I'd share my thoughts: First, I basically ignore it. There are features that I might like if I got them working (Carplay, Waze interface), but hooking it up to Wifi and Bluetooth the way they told me (it's complicated and not...

Recent Accident- Sentry/Dashcam did not record the Accident!!

Yeah, I had that problem with some of the sticks I initially used on my 2018 Model 3. But this is the Tesla stick that comes with new Teslas, so it should work fine. And the last hour of RecentClips look flawless. Been trying some disk recovery utilities but no luck yet.

Recent Accident- Sentry/Dashcam did not record the Accident!!

Glad you mentioned that - yes, the cop did record the video on his cell before the Tesla deleted it. But that's not the point. Nobody likes an Apple/Tesla apologist (unless they've been friends with the Apple/Tesla apologist for over 40 years, so we're good). Any company, like Tesla and...

Recent Accident- Sentry/Dashcam did not record the Accident!!

OK, I'm going to vent a little because I was just in a crash in our Model Y (minor thankfully - just short of airbag deployment, but the car did turn the hazard blinkers on, so I know that it knew something bad had happened), and it didn't save the video. I now see that I had the Dashcam set to...

How long between inspection and PTO? [various areas]

Yeah, got PTO a few weeks ago. Panels and Powerwalls are working great, but there's something screwed up with the power flow measurements/calculations... If I'm off-grid, or on-grid with the solar charging the batteries and the grid powering the house (off-peak conditions), the 4 measurements...

    CPUC NEM 3.0 discussion

I'm not an expert in all the details, but it seems to me that the utilities are trying (and succeeding) to hide the real problem (utilities want/need to raise rates because they are mismanaged/badly regulated/corrupt/whatever) by making it look like the problem is solar customers vs non-solar...

How long between inspection and PTO? [various areas]

Update: 2 weeks after PG&E said they'd received the NEM request from Tesla, I called PG&E to check on things, and they said there was a problem with my paperwork (Tesla had given them an incorrect meter number), and PG&E asked them to fix it. Two weeks ago. However it appeared to the PG&E guy...

How long between inspection and PTO? [various areas]

Totally believable but pretty sad. And pretty inefficient, since the only way to contact them and get things done ends up being over the phone, which has to be a lot more time-consuming than parsing emails (many of which lay out the details of the problem in an organized manner vs having to...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yeah, I'm really hoping he spells out how and when he's selling to prevent chaos on Monday. Solar + Powerwall: Lights have started flickering when off-grid

My advice would first be to do a controlled (more controlled than my first experiment, where I came to a wrong conclusion) experiment looking at the lights, fan, and oven under 3 (or maybe 4) conditions: Connected to grid power Disconnected from grid power with only Powerwall A on (Powerwall B...

    Stay away from SolarEdge inverter

Well, yeah… That would have been a better idea. Although in my case, the Tesla guy pointing out that I could charge the panels with solar is what set the lightbulb off for me that I could completely go off grid until I got PTO. So lucky mistake.

    Stay away from SolarEdge inverter

Mine discharged to 0% a day or two before a Tesla guy came out and turned on the solar to charge them (he was there to set up the solar - the Powerwall needing charging just seemed to be a happy accident). It’s probably too late in your case, but if anyone else is seeing their Powerwalls head...

Tip/Warning if you have more than one Powerwall

Just had a Solar + 3 Powerwall system installed. Have been running off-grid while waiting for PTO. App shows 3 Powerwalls with a state of charge somewhere between 0% and 100%. Walls charge up to 100% during the day; house runs off Powerwalls when there’s no solar production. After a week...

Solar + Powerwall: Lights have started flickering when off-grid

Makes sense. You just reminded me of another (semi-practical if very big) solution - have the AC from the Powerwall drive an electric motor with a flywheel and another motor (functioning as an AC generator) on the shaft. The output of that generator can drive the switching load and the...
  42. Yonki

Solar + Powerwall: Lights have started flickering when off-grid

That’s what I’m thinking, too. Since the switching can happen as frequently as every cycle, I think the Powerwall might be reacting to the load change on the next AC cycle, only to have the load then switch in the other direction, so now the Powerwall reacts to that, etc. The frequency of the...

Solar + Powerwall: Lights have started flickering when off-grid

Haven’t tried it, but that is probably the best (only?) off-the-shelf solution. Unfortunately a double-conversion (output always comes from inverter connected to DC storage) UPS looks like it’s a minimum of $700 to $1,000 new. Going to try my low-cost rectify, filter, and run bed off DC...

Solar + Powerwall: Lights have started flickering when off-grid

👍 Unfortunately EMI suppressors are aimed for high-frequency transients that are fairly easy to suppress with common-mode chokes and LC filters. While this problem is technically EMI, the frequency of the interference (varying from 1Hz to 60Hz) is both very low and in the same band as the...

Solar + Powerwall: Lights have started flickering when off-grid

I discovered the cause of the problem, and it probably has nothing to do with Powerwalls (though it might still have something to do with Tesla's installation). I do a lot of 3D-printing, and the temperature of the printbed is controlled by turning a 600W heater on and off many times a second...

Hansshow Model Y Power Frunk V4.2 (maybe 4.3?) - does anyone know how to program it?

Thanks! I previously tried pressing the button for ~10 seconds for it to get itself back in sync (i.e. not trying to close with the latch already closed, etc.), and that worked. Will experiment some more. SOMETHING happened (probably due to pressing that button) that caused it to get weak...

Ridiculously simple question about multi-powerwall installs

My thinking as well. Well #1's green light is on, but who knows what that means. #2 and #3 work happily on their own or together, whether #1 is on or off. I've contacted them but not heard back yet. Hoping to get more knowledgeable about this aspect of Powerwalls before I talk to them in...

    'whole home backup' confusion

Well the change to 100A was an on-the-fly change at the time of install, where they called in and cleared it with an engineer, and I verbally approved at the time. The revised plans show the 3 AWG. I should be fine with a 100A limit and can re-run thicker wires and bigger breakers if I ever...

Ridiculously simple question about multi-powerwall installs

Just had a 12kW/3PW system installed that overall I'm happy about (a lot happier than I was with the Tesla install at my previous house). But I was doing some basic system testing, which included running the house on each Powerwall by itself. House ran fine when only #2 PW was on, and when...

    'whole home backup' confusion

Similar story here. I just had a 12kW/3PW install done, and Tesla did something similar to me. House originally had a 200A service with a 125A breaker running to a subpanel where most of the loads are. The plans I signed off on had AWG 2/0 running between the original panel and the gateway...
