I thought older cars are not able to utilize the added benefits, but I’m sure someone here can confirm or dispute this notion.

It’s alive! My model S is hardware 2.5, so I wont get the full benefits of this V3 charger.

The meter is - in fact - installed ... thank you @Chili. The bad news is there’s no juice flowing to the chargers. If @Bizquick can’t make it on Monday Ill try to make another seafood run mid-week.

yup, you are correct. I guess I was thinking about the ferries and Mac Island being a destination - and that everything in Mac City is closed up.

Sunday 4/26/20 - no meter

Mackinaw City Marina chargers will give you 7kW (32amp @ 206v). Those chargers are still there but costs $5 to park there in the season.

I don’t know, but the site does look like it took a huge hit during the winter by ice floes. I’ll keep an eye on it to see if it’s rebuilt.

i believe it is. @IT Geek has been to all of them in MI ... perhaps he can confirm.

The plaques on the supercharger cabinets above are too low res for you to read - here’s a better shot. You will see this is, in fact, a 250kW charger.

Everything is wired and buttoned up ... just missing the meter from the power utility.

I spoke to one of the Shoreline guys today and he said the pedestals will be wired and the covers installed in the next hour. He also said that the juice should be flowing in the next 2 weeks. Don’t go scheduling any trips up this way yet. I’ll drive by sometime next week and check the progress.

Keep in mind that until Tesla shows it as “live” it really isn’t. We have seen many chargers go up for a few days/weeks and then go dark for more tweaking - i.e., to fix voltage fluctuations. If you’re planning a trip don’t roll in with an empty tank.

I observed this lady ahead of me park, blocking 4 0f 8 charging spots, then go into the store to shop with her 2 daughters. I plug in and then another Model S plugs in after me. At this point anyone else needing a charge would get a lower juice rate. The temperature was 10F so those of us doing...

I live 125 miles north of Midland, in Indian River, and have access to a restricted 3,000’ paved road that can really show what the car can do. If that is too far to drive him, perhaps you can hang out at the Bay City supercharger and one of the locals there may be able to help. Good luck.

Have not been to BC since October ... very nice to see a Culver’s open now next to the bank in the Meijer parking lot. Good food and good service.

@lamb ... before i moved up north I used to check here City of Novi, Michigan - Planning Commission Agendas/Minutes But I wouldn’t be surprised if the chosen site is the Meijer in Wixom.

@RGloverii thanks for the info and welcome to the group! The plans appear to me to possibly be Tesla destination chargers, not Superchargers. Perhaps someone in the group who is a little more electrical-savvy can weigh in.

Wow! I just planned a route in EVtripplanner from the U.P. to North Carolina and the Gaylord SC is already loaded and shows up in my itinerary!

I’m in the U.P. now and will need Gaylord tomorrow. My alternative was ugly. Thanks for the confirmation, Joel, and thanks to all who kept us updated with progress!

On I-75 north of the Bay City exit the speed limit is now 75mph. It took many months for our nav systems to update.

I was there a few days ago, Mike. The transformer was still sitting in one of the charging stalls and there was no new activity to show progress. I’m in the U.P. now but may need to go downstate on the 12th. Maybe we can connect.

Today I see a transformer has been delivered (but not installed yet) - that’s a good sign!

Unfortunately, there’s been little progress since I posted this photo on April 18. A few weeks ago I reported there was some minor digging around the conduit, but no other signs of progress. I am optimistic though about the info Geek heard from his source.

@emupilot ... thanks for that. The online edition of the paper auto-filled the present date you read it. On the USA side of Sault Ste. Marie there is a Meijer. Highly likely that’s the new location.

This was in the local newspaper today ... scroll down toward the bottom of the article: “...In other business Thursday, commissioners unanimously approved a special land use permit to allow Meijer to construct a 10-unit Tesla Supercharging Station in its parking lot for hybrid electric...

@BaieFine ... the thread sorta got hijacked, but if you are asking about Gaylord (vs Escanaba), I was there 2 days ago and there was a little bit of digging around the PVC conduits, but no sign of a transformer. I need to go up there again next week and will report back.
