Everything Electric Sydney (February 9-10-11, 2024)

Agreed. There are still the challenges of multiple AC standards around the globe which adds complexity/cost to vehicle manufacture but if solar inverter manufacturers can readily handle that, it's not necesarily a big deal. To prove your point, the MG4 will output 7kW on single phase. That's...

Everything Electric Sydney (February 9-10-11, 2024)

Total cost was about $30K as it's a custom low voltage lithium battery pack I built myself from low cost prismatic cells (technically 2 separate packs - one with new cells and one with lightly used cells). So sub 5 year payback. But yes, if it was all Powerwall 2s then ~$100K. Of course when...

Everything Electric Sydney (February 9-10-11, 2024)

The mix of panellists is a tricky one for the organisers. It looked to me like the more popular sessions were with those that had a higher Youtube / journalist / "celebrity" profile - particularly with Robert Llewellyn attending - which makes perfect sense. The sessions with industry experts...

    BP Pulse Network

Yep, Asquith open and currently free. Just need to scan the QR code with the BP Pulse app to start the free charging session. Max of 72kW on the dual CCS port station with one EV plugged in. Great to see a dual CCS port charger rather than CCS/Chademo.

    Evie EV charging networks

Evie charging stations at HomeCo Belrose (formerly Belrose SuperCentre) at 4/6 Niangala Close, Belrose NSW are almost ready to go. Photo taken yesterday. Located on the lower level not far from the car park entrance. Not yet added to Plugshare.

The future of CHADEMO in Australia

Bloody Chademo plugs! More dual charger sites made into effective single charger sites because 95% of EVs in Australia use CCS and probably 99% by 2025. Hopefully they will rip out the Chademo plug and cable and install CCS in the near future when they realise that their dual charging units...

NSW Tesla Energy Plan VPP Virtual Power Plant

@Fermax you'll need to look at wholesale rates to understand why they are charging your battery. For example, this morning the wholesale rate was relatively low at 13-14c per kWh between 3-4am while it was 37 cents at 7-8am. So they're trying to discharge in the morning in addition to the...

    Is this battery performance normal?

Well, it could be worse - here's a friend's 2019 SR+. 13% degradation after 24,000km and just under 2 years old. Gap between green (fleet) and blue line even bigger in 2020 than 2021. Only 17% more degradation in the next 6 years to trigger a warranty claim! 193 vehicles with similar odometer...

Hornsby and neighbouring Waitara have a huge amount of high and low rise apartments so public charging will be needed for those who can't simply plug in or install their own charging equipment at home.

Is it easy to identify if my Tesla Wall connector can charge other EVs?

Yes, the -03- in this TPN. So unfortunately it's not one of the older models (00 and 01) that I've have seen work charging Konas, Leafs, i3s etc in legacy mode.

Is it easy to identify if my Tesla Wall connector can charge other EVs?

#strykeroz You will need a HPWC with model designation ending in 00 or 01 to be able to charge a non-Tesla. The model designation endings in Australia are 00, 01, 02 and 07. Model 3s deliveries in Australia had HPWC with 07 and started in Sep 2019 so I'd guess yours will be a 07. I have a 00...

    NRMA fast charging network

NRMA were told by AEVA Sydney (and I reckon many others) that redundancy in their charging network was essential. Either through two DC fast chargers or through an AC 22kW station at each DC fast charging location (the latter at relatively minimal cost). The point was acknowledged but not acted...

Rear Heated Seats upgrade for Model 3 SR+

Perhaps as a new owner it's a lack of knowledge of your Tesla that's the issue. That's understandable and not a reason for people to call anyone an idiot. There are a huge amount of features within the touchscreen including the volume control slider and door lock/unlock icon which work just a...

    Phone unlock very unreliable

I had problems with my phone connecting and disconnecting frequently ftom my Model 3 when I first received it. I tried the fix referenced at Contact sync fix PSA to do with odd characters in contact sync and the problem was fixed. If you have your phone contacts syncing to the car, you can...

    ChargeFox EV charging Network

As DS P85D noted, it's disappointing that Chargefox didn't locate their chargers near the southern Freeway ramp adjacent to the Big Merino, Trappers Bakery, Olivers Fast Food and Service Stations. Driving through Goulburn for the Tesla Superchargers and now for the Chargefox ones near McDonalds...

    Model 3 Charging in Australia

The 7kW cable you linked to is single phase. The specs are probably copied and pasted from the other 22kW unit. You can call evse.com.au to clarify. Get the three phase 32A (22kW) adaptor cable . When you really need the extra charging speed you won't care about the $30 additional cost and...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I'm with you Rohan, I'm not ordering unless it is for a LR RWD. Emailed Tesla tonight and will go to Martin Place on Saturday. Of any country on the planet Australia is the one that needs the LR RWD - the longest range Model 3 variant available. Australia would no doubt have the lowest ratio of...

Lowest price Model S yet in Oz? MY2016 60D for $67K

Hard to believe that carsales.com.au doesn't require their ads to show that a vehicle is a repairable write-off. Marking the ad as suspicious doesn't seem to do anything either to remove or improve the information in the ad. Obviously the seller is keen to deceive buyers by not disclosing the...

Sounds good 100KWH. No doubt your Black P100D would be a stand out there for any time you can join us! I'll share more as we go. It's likely we'll have to lock-in vehicles for any on track activities a little earlier as we need to work-in with the V8 Supercars schedule. We can swap cars in/out...

Australia\NZ Electric Vehicle Charging standards (Ban the J1772?)

I'm a Nissan Leaf and Outlander PHEV owner (both with J1772) and agree that Chargepoint and Australian car distributors adopting J1772 was/is a huge mistake. Mennekes (as used in Tesla destination chargers) with single and three phase matches our common electricity circuits which are effectively...

I was in Goulburn on Friday 24th April for a track day at Wakefield Park (I have a Zero SR electric motorcycle). Doesn't look like any construction work has commenced yet but there were plenty of spare spaces at the Information Center for the Superchargers to go. For those who want to take...
