FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

My FSD test route on 12.3.4 continued to trend slightly better than v11 did, though last Friday’s test was during Coachella weekend which is like the rapture in Los Angeles. Traffic was light because half the population was migrating toward the desert. Anyway, still doesn‘t pass the spouse...

My HW4 Y just got it. I’ll do my test route tonight.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

On a five mile round trip last night FSD: 1. Changed into a lane that ended immediately after the maneuver. 2. Got in the right lane to make a left. 3. Pulled into oncoming traffic to make an illegal left into a parking lot. 4. Tried to make a left turn at a right turn only location. 5...

I’ve been using both modes and yes they are less bad than they were. “Better” is a stretch.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Two and a half years participating in this FSD mess and I’ve determined that what I really want is AP and NoA to be on the FSD stack at which point I would just stop using the city streets stuff. I don’t want it to change lanes without asking but the FSD stack is dramatically smoother on the...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

FSD12 will do whatever the hell it wants up to the maximum speed specified. It’ll go 8 in a 45 with no traffic around if it wants and the only way to get around it is to repeatedly goose the accelerator. It’s irritating and it’s making me nauseous.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Put the car in Drive and wait for the little grey steering wheel to show up next to the PRDL icons. Then pull down once on the stalk and once the grey wheel turns blue you’re in FSD.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Mine does this as well and I noticed it most on the 405 S during the recent rain where it was darting around the carpool lane. Super weird.
  11. mtndrew1

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I’m not sure how to describe it but v12 now fails differently than v11 Version 11 would have never tried to make the turn yesterday where it pulled across three lanes when it couldn’t see one of them. The disengagement would have been because v11 would have frozen in the middle of the...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I did my FSD test route last night. FSD Test Route It performed similary to other versions but this time it confidently pulled straight into oncoming traffic, twice. Once was while it was passing a stopped car on a residential street and the other was during a left turn across a lighted...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think this was a very bad quarter for deliveries, that Tesla has produced more vehicles than they’ve sold for a while now, and that there are some sort of impediments to the growth story. Then I provided an anecdotal sample of my personal experience with known Tesla customers leaving the...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It’s such a weird position to be in because I, too, often defend the company because there are so many outright falsehoods about Musk and Tesla floating around. That said it’s very easy to pull up actual screenshots and quotes these days straight from the horse’s mouth which project a very...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I’ve been a Tesla champion for about a decade now and have successfully encouraged at least a dozen people to buy the cars. I read something a while back where Elon said that his brother calls him from time to time and says “when you stick the knife in our backs can you just not twist it?”...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

There’s how people actually behave and how they “should” behave (define that as you will). A company that’s not Tesla will be getting my next automobile purchase because of very vocal antics from Mr. Musk. That may be noteworthy for investors. Since the company is sitting on like 60,000 unsold...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I have no aversion to using Tesla’s network because it doesn’t follow me around with the car. I certainly hope they build a robust and profitable EV charging network to further adoption. You may be misunderstanding the point of my post. I’m not willing to buy another Tesla automobile because...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Either; I very rarely use fast charging and Tesla has removed the supercharger moat so I’ll use those if/when I need them. The point of my post on this thread is that Elon’s antics have removed the likelihood of me buying another one of his cars. The people in my bubble are often well heeled...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Where I live EVs are about a third of new car sales, the vehicles themselves are no longer any sort of statement. And my F150 is gas, thank you very much ;-)

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That’s funny but I probably should have just said “political” hat. I’m a liberal but I wouldn’t want a Biden hat as a car either. I’m under no illusion that the CEOs of other carmakers aren’t also distasteful in this regard, I just don’t want the giant blue shiny object in which I spent a...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I haven’t done my test route yet because 12.3.3 feels very similar to the other v12 builds, maybe I’ll do it next week. I might be imagining it but the parking blob animations seem to be in higher resolution.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This probably won’t get a warm reception here but it might be relevant for investors. I’m driving my second Tesla now and will not buy another, specifically because of Elon Musk. He’s turned my car into a MAGA hat and I want to be as far away from the brand as possible. The moment that FSD...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I received 12.3.2.1 on Friday and did my test run. FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I’ve got to say the bloom is off the rose for me with v12. It’s quite clearly a completely different system than 11 and it does some stuff amazingly well. That said, last night I had my first honk ever from another motorist in 2.5 years of FSDb because my car decided to fake out a car in an...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Gosh yes, I forgot to comment on this. Several times my car has absolutely dropped anchor for yellow lights with plenty of time left to safely pass. Super weird.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Since you’re new to this, FSD was 90 days from wide deployment when I took delivery of my original car in March of 2018. In summer of 2018 it was going to be “silky smooth” in the next release. “Actually Smart Summon” has a “due date” with the autopilot team of September. September of 2022...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

My return commute this evening was pretty amazing in a few spots, doing some ninja moves that had me gasp out loud. Arriving home I offered to take my spouse out to show him, which caught him off guard because he knows how disappointed I have been with FSD and how disgusted I’ve become with...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I have some more thoughts after my test route last night and my commute this morning. There are two major issues in this build, one being the weird speed behavior as mentioned by many and the other being what I think someone referred to as “pump fakes”. The car will feel like it has decided to...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I don’t have time to write much now but 12.3 was a very big improvement on my test route. FSD Test Route The first segment has always been a problem and remains so, which is weird, but it is what it is. The rest of the drive was quite natural except for one major misstep. I didn’t expect...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I just got v12.3 on a HW4 car in Los Angeles. I’ve been doing the FSD thing since (I think) v10.1 and I’ll update my test route spreadsheet tonight. I want to be excited but I’ve been hyped so many times before only to be let down by reality. I’ll let the numbers speak for themselves in a few...

    FSD Beta v11.x

I’ve been tracking my FSDb performance since late 2021 and I’ve updated my spreadsheet with 11.4.9. See below. FSD doc

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

So Mine did exactly this from the beginning of 2023 until one of the last firmware releases. It would slam on the brakes after misidentifying target vehicles in adjacent lanes. It was so bad that I stopped using even legacy autopilot altogether.

    High Fidelity Park Assist

The high fidelity thing actually gave me confidence in curb rendering and encouraged me to crunch my splitter and curb my wheel last Sunday. I’d rather have zero expectations of a capability rather than a fuzzy and inaccurate representation of what the car sees. After that incident I don’t have...

    Park assist looks like crap!

I thought my USS car did the ring but it’s been several months so I might be misremembering. My Vision car never had a ring that clear and stable.
  42. mtndrew1

    FSD Beta v11.x

The 11.4.9 update seems to have entirely cured my car’s habit of slamming on the brakes for cars erroneously highlighted in adjacent lanes, both on FSDb and legacy autopilot. I’ve only tried it on my regular commute route so far but I’m really thrilled. I don’t care about FSDb much and doubt...

    Park assist looks like crap!

Yours is working as designed and your friend’s car probably has ultrasonic parking sensors (USS). Doesn’t mean it’s good but nothing is broken; we’re all in the same boat.
  44. mtndrew1

    High Fidelity Park Assist

The thing that trips me up is that this parking assist is mostly useful if you’re futzing around with the screen and moving the scene around while simultaneously parking. The overhead blob view is only marginally useful and nowhere near as handy as the inches/cm display of my USS cars. Maybe...

    High Fidelity Park Assist

I’ve had this for a week or so now and it’s a very Tesla solution to a long-solved problem. My previous Tesla and the three cars before it all had USS and it was a known quantity. I greatly prefer USS to this high fidelity thing which, while it looks extremely cool, has been only minimally...

    FSD Beta v11.x

I find the behavior alarming; it feels like it’s going to pop over into an adjacent lane with passing traffic.
  47. mtndrew1

    FSD Beta v11.x

Drizzling in SoCal this afternoon and the wipers on 10.4.9 still don’t activate against a grey sky. At least they haven’t dry wiped on this update.
  48. mtndrew1

    FSD Beta v11.x

    1) It’s broken. Tapping on songs in playlists doesn’t work properly and just reverts to an unrelated track. 2) Consider using the built-in app when they get it sorted, the sound quality is considerably better than via Bluetooth.
  49. mtndrew1

    FSD Beta v11.x

Tidal is completely borked for me on 44.30.1 and I hope that’s one thing they fixed in these later builds.
  50. mtndrew1

    FSD Beta v11.x

I did my first commute this morning on the new FSDb build and it’s an improvement. This version has reduced the number of times I need to press the accelerator to overcome false cut-ins by at least half. Still largely useless but…less useless? Progress in any event.
