Wh/km (or mi) / range grossly mis-advertised, if not fraudulent... srsly.

I did some tests years ago to discover the true range of my former 2015 Model S P85D. The maximum I could achieve was about 90% of the EPA range, with freeway components at 60 mph on cruise control. Air conditioning was on the whole time. All driving was easy and moderate, ńo aggressive...

Model 3–totaled or salvageable [Is this totaled?]

In early 2021 had a crash In my six year old model S P85D with a $30,000 repair estimate. The salvage value of my car, as is, was over $17,000. This car had only 21,000 miles on it and it was in beautiful condition and therefore the salvage value was high. The insurance company declared it a...

Model Y steering locked up while driving [Power steering went out]

This happened in June 2023 to my wife in our driveway, accompanied by a notice on the dashboard “condition detected in a vehicle controller.” This is 2018 Model 3 Dual Motor. Turned out to be a defective Front Controller, a component that looks like a microcomputer that sits behind the 12v...

POLL: Have you had to have your 12V battery replaced?

Yes. I replaced mine under warranty (barely, on 2015 P85D) after instrument panel notice.

head on collision while driving on auto pilot

Get a better insurance policy next time. My 2015 P85D was totaled and my insurer, USAA, eventually paid the full used car value, plus $10,000, which the policy provided for cars declared a total loss. It was a great contribution toward the price of my new Model S Plaid.

2021 Model S: No Silver Wheel OEM

There may be a solution. A number of Tempest Wheel posts, e.g. "Question about the new Tempest Wheels" in May 2020, include photos showing the mag wheel under the Tempest hubcap is silver colored, and resembles the older Model S standard wheel, but without center cap and lug caps. We will just...

On the order page today I find that neither wheel option is available in silver. Black finish only. I hate the looks of black wheels. Now I’ll either have to paint the Tempest wheels silver or buy aftermarket wheels. Am I the only Tesla guy who doesn’t care for the looks of a car with black...

    Tempest Wheels

As of May 2021, the Tesla order page describes Tempest wheels as allowing 390 miles of range in the Plaid, but only 350 miles for the Arachnid wheels. Both refer to 19” wheels.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

You might rethink keeping comprehensive and Collision Coverage on your 2015 P85D. On March 30 of this year an uninsured driver broadsided my 2015 P85D-L, resulting in the car being declared a total loss. USAA, my insurer, has agreed to pay $72,800 for the total loss. This is based on a very high...

    Sudden Unintended Acceleration

I had two sudden unanticipated accelerations, both very scary, but neither of which did any damage. In both cases, I had "Creep Off" set. I suggest that "creep off" is the cause of many, or perhaps most, sudden accelerations that occur at very low speeds in parking lots, parking garages or at...

Tesla Model 3 Vampire Drain (aka loosing mileage when stationary)

Sentry Mode caused the same radical battery drain in our Model 3 as reported by the OP. I turned Sentry Mode off on the touchscreen, only to...

Urgent Federal Legislation: Equalize Tax Credit Phase-Ou

If Tesla begins to lose the $7500 tax credit in 2019 and if BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, and Jaguar retain the $7500 credit Tesla will no longer have any ability to cope in the market. Why I Cancelled My Model 3 Order and am No Longer a Tesla Fan

I would never, under any circumstances, accept delivery of a car that had damage to the body that required paint work. That is not a new car. Reject the defective car and wait for a replacement. That's the businesslike way to handle it.

Model 3 glass roof failing - do others have this issue ?

I was able to resolve this problem as shown in the above post dated May 19. The key analytical step is to identify energy used by the...

Creep on or off and why

I agree with TT97 as to creep in standard shift cars. You keep the car in first, slip the clutch and hover over the brake. It is similar to creep. You get the equivalent of creep off only if the clutch is disengaged or the car is in neutral.

Creep on or off and why

Mark_T's analysis of the creep/pedal error is spot on. If you are maneuvering at low speed, creep will carry you along and you can keep your foot poised on the brake pedal. This duplicates what you do with an automatic transmission car. It is also the same for a standard transmission car...
