July 2023 and AP1 is still a better driving experience on Interstates than FSDb

I haven't driven one, but I've looked them over. Handsome car with great build quality and luxury. Only negative is charging system for long trips. When the infrastructure improves and they have access to the Tesla system I might switch. Otherwise it's a local car and charged at home. FYI...

July 2023 and AP1 is still a better driving experience on Interstates than FSDb

On the interstates my S85D with AP1 is much better than my 2019 Model X with FSD. The AP1 is much more reliable and less stressful. The FSD still has phantom breaking, dives to the right when passing an on ramp, is crap in bumper to bumper traffic, (so bad I don't use it). The vision only...

    2018 vs 2019 long range Model X

Big difference. Adaptive suspension, more range, one pedal driving. I've owned both. Get the 2019 Raven.

    Anyone using 'Recurrent'?

Here's the report on my 2015S 85D. It agrees with my range.

Nightmare Tesla experience- all from a flat tire

The tool pretty much destroys the locks. You use a hammer and pound on a friction fit kind of socket and then add a breaker bar to undo the nut.

Nightmare Tesla experience- all from a flat tire

I managed to lose the key on my 2015 after 6 years with no problems with the tires. Went to replace them and couldn't find the wheel lock key. Went to Autozone and bought a wheel lock removal tool for maybe $10 bucks. Knocked the locks off and bought a new set of locks. I'm more careful with...

Who came from S to X?

The difference between the S and X is big sport sedan vs big SUV. I love my S, my wife loves the X. The S is all about style and performance, the X is a utility vehicle. The S is a 85D with the sunroof and all options but performance. The X again is all options but performance. We mostly use...

    AliBaba Experience

I've used Alibaba and AliExpress a few times. No problems at all with very good pricing. Delivery can take awhile, it's coming directly from China. Alibaba is targeted at wholesale buyers, AliExpress at retail buyers, that's what I've observed.

Breaking down the excessive rear, inner tire wear

I've followed this thread and I can say my 2019 X is on the original rears tires at 29,000 miles and showing little wear. I expect I'll replace them around 40 to 50k because I like a lot of tread depth. I did replace the fronts at 25k miles when I had the half shafts replaced. I do drive the...

2015 MS to MX handling differences

The Raven cars all have the adaptive suspension as do the Refresh S. There should be aftermarket hitches for the new S.
  11. 365gtb4

2015 MS to MX handling differences

No, the X is much heavier and higher and it shows in the handling.
  12. 365gtb4

2015 MS to MX handling differences

Theres a big difference between the two. The S handles like a sport sedan with a somewhat harsh ride. The X on the other hand has an adaptive suspension which make a huge difference in ride quality. You can set the X to a very soft comfortable ride or to sport which is much stiffer with less...

Model S Refresh bumper for older models!!!!

I have had the unplugged performance for three years. Zip problems and the paints a perfect match.

Great deal? Or get something newer...

How is equipped? There were a lot of options. Sunroof, premium sound, seating interior, air suspension. wheels. etc. I love my 2015S85 and its been very reliable. At 40k miles I've seen about 4% battery degradation. If it has a clean Carfax and in excellent condition it a good value.

Leaving at train station 3-4 nights every week, bad idea?

You should be fine. Just leave home with 90% charge. I've left my S a month unplugged. Expect to lose a few miles of range each day. Get the 50amp circuit, the cost increase is negligible over the 30amp.
  16. 365gtb4

Model S long range refresh pulls hard left on hard acceleration. Need help!

Also check your tire pressures, front and rear. Don't assume it's a steering issue. Something wrong with the front or rear drive units and the wheel torque management system.

Newest update - problems with Gen 1 HPWC

Interesting, my 2015S charges at 80amps and my 2019X raven charges at 48amps on the same 1st gen charger. The only problem I've had with the charger was to replace one of the fuzes. Both cars are running their latest software. I suspect something else is going on. I've never had a heating...

    4 Post Lift?

It all depends on what you plan to use the lift for. For storing a car I would get the four post lift. For actually working on the car I'd get a four finger lift. I've owned and used both types. The finger lifts are really good for working on tires, brakes, suspension. Both types are good...

Big Bear, wrightwood, route 2 and mountain Drives in LA

Do a range charge in San Bernardino, Fontana or Rancho before going up the hill. You will use a lot of range going up but mostly cost going down. If you are in snow then your usage will increase a lot.

    Supercharger - Lake Arrowhead, CA (LIVE 17 Nov 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

Having lived at Arrowhead for 20+ years the parking in the Village is very crowded. Hopefully they will put the chargers in the underground parking area which sees little use.

    Drive Model X around U.S.?

We have an S and are on our second X. The X is used for all road trips. It's a 6 seat white on white. We have an ARB refrigerator between the middle row seats. A typical trip coast to cost is 10k miles with all the wanderings we do. It's perfect for long road trips and reduces fatigue with...

    8.5' vs 18' cable

The beauty of a plug in HPWC is if the HPWC fails for what ever reason you can still plug in. If I were to do an install today I would do it with a best quality 14-50 plug. I've had a fuse blow on my garage HWPC and it took a few days to get a new one.

Anyone know a company that clean Solar Roof panels?

One of my arrays is on the side of a hill. You can't clean the array from the ground and using a ladder because the slope is very steep. I'm in the process of building a gangway so cleaning is quick and safe. I searched for a company who would build such a platform and the pricing was crazy...

    Desperate for a road trip!

We love road trips in our Teslas and we've made many trips, including 5 cross country trips. In October we did 3k miles to visit our parents who are in the eighties who needed some help. The trip was not good. We practiced social distancing and mask wearing. We did stayed in Hilton hotels...

Model X - Falcon Wing Door hit Garage

Thats about a $5000 dollar repair. If you report it to your insurance company they probably will consider it an "at fault accident". They also will report it to the sate government and it will go on your record. Then the insurance rate will go up. Speaking from experience.

    Show off your aftermarket wheels.

They are in fact chrome. I don't think they offer them anymore. I would give them a call and see if they can special order you a set.

Model S driver's side dimension changes?

The car has a thing called easy entry. It allows the user to have the seat move to a different position and then move to the driving position. Maybe thats what you experienced.

I've had my Model S for a month now. When does simply looking at it get old?

I've had this one for 5 years and yes every time I drive it, it makes me smile.
  36. 365gtb4

    Solar Panel Option

My take on the panels is just to handle phantom loss. My truck will sit out side it's whole life. The fact that I will charge it when I need it and the rest of the time it will not be plugged in. Dealing with the phantom loss then is a none issue.

    Tesla 2016 model x versus 2020 model X

Model S as a Long Range Commuter Car

I would also get a white car with the white interior. Arizona summers can be brutal. 220 miles is easy. Your phantom drain will be at most 5 miles if sentry is off. Charged to 350 and you'll be fine. I've done many trips like this. I just did a couple of hundred miles and left the car for...

    Baja Tesla adventure!

Thanks for the writeup. It's very informative and looks like you're having a great time. I've driven Baja in both cars and motorcycles. I want to take my X down to Cabo but unsure of the current insurance situation. How did you deal with Mexican Insurance?

    ‘Blinded’ driver’s side pillar cam?

My 2019 Raven X100D has the fogging problem, but my 2017 X90D never fogged. It's probably a manufacturing defect and I'll let the service center fix it.
