Two Questions for Those Who Were There

Thanks for the responses. The look is growing in me. In a couple of years I have full spousal go-ahead for any Tesla I want. Not sure what yet, though. Might be the truck

Two Questions for Those Who Were There

    1. Do you think the truck bed is designed for folks who want to tow 5th wheelers? I kinda doubt it but have no perception of the truck bed depth given the slope from The roofline, and 2. Are there simple amenities inside, such as cup holders and USB ports?? I ask because I plan to haul a...

    Sloped roof and drag

Yes, the slopes roof contributes significantly to the 0.23 drag coefficient I recall Elon Musk saying during the unveiling. This affects range in a big way.

From 340xi to Tesla dual motor Model 3 - mini comparo.

You purchased the dual motor version; was this done because of better\traction control in winter? Or because you wanted the white interior. This is the one trade I haven’t been able to sort out in my head

It IS good, and these islands are magical!! Got here yesterday and am loving every minute of it. It would be so cool to see any electric vehicle meet-ups while here. Wishing I had mine....

Blog Which Model 3 Color Will You Choose?

Not a bad car for a sixteen year old. I paid $650 for it and did all the work myself except for the actual Maaco paint job (for $59.99). I really miss that car!!

Blog Which Model 3 Color Will You Choose?

Having seen each color in mid day and evening light, I’m reverting back to my TR-4 days, to red. The blue was a close second. I’ve had too many white cars in my life, and have never liked black. My Leaf had mighnight silver, so no repeat of a recent color choice.

Using phone as a key. Not a good idea.

Agree, it is a problem that needs to be addressed, not a design issue that needs to be fundamentally changed. Deleting the use of a key fob is as impactful as going fully electric, to some. There’s no doubt that implementing the key functions in a phone app would be troublesome at first, like...

A Funny Thing About Door Gaps

I’ve owned an Acura MDX since new in 2016. We love the car, my spouse especially; we paid north of $50k for it. Just today I noticed a gap in the c-pillar. What did I do - nothing, because the car works great, is quiet and does not rattle. This got me to thinking about the myriad of posts...

Having Spent the Last 3 Weeks in Versailles France

In all fairness, I do have a rental...but the drivers rear view mirror is broken, so it doesn’t unfold automatically nor move up/down and left/right. I have to do that manually. It also is very low on oil so I negotiated a free quart of oil and added it myself (oil is about €13 here per...

Having Spent the Last 3 Weeks in Versailles France

I was walking around today and saw a Renault Zoe (Vehicle Hub | ZOE | Cars | Renault UK) drive by - any electric vehicle person can spot them a mile away! I’ve grown fond of how the Renault Clio zips around - especially in the snow and ice of central France this last week. Zoe looks perfect...

White Interior Delayed Commensurate with Later Ramp

Saw your handle and recalled you from the Leaf forum. Like you I’ve moved to Tesla though am waiting on my M3 when we pay off a newer Acura MDX. Can’t pay them concurrently...not with student loans too! I’m waiting for the LR dual motor with possibly a white interior. I’m out into next year...

[POLL] Do you care about Telsa's headliner material change?

Lol. Very funny!! As for , I don’t care...as I look at the interior of my 2008 Toyota Prius. I’m much more interested in tech features Tesla brings. I may go over to Century City to sit in a M3 and see for myself, but then again, why so soon when I’m waiting for the dial motor.

Totalled my S today....so I confirmed my Model 3 First Production order

So, so glad you walked away, apparently unharmed!! Many people, in the moment, freeze, with a much more disastrous outcome than that - very nice to see this outcome! With the new suite of sensors in new Tesla’s, would that crash be caught in some form without a dash cam? Would Tesla release...

Is the Model 3 your most expensive car?

Our 2016 Acura MDX was purchased for just under $50K, so the Model 3 will be more. I don’t expect the federal tax credit to be available when we configure the car, and that’ll be the difference.

    Bluetooth Link to iPhone?

While this may be a silly question, does the main screen in model S and X use Bluetooth to connect music and podcasts so they play over the stereo?

Why are you buying a Model 3?

Zero emissions is a big draw for me, combined with long-term useable range. I'll be using this a my commuter car until I retire. My Leaf couldn't support that for a decade's worth of commuting; I loved the Leaf but was glad I had a 3 year lease as opposed to a purchase. It was really nice to get...

Tesla makes offer to acquire Solar City

No. A true collaboration between Tesla and Solar City means there'll be little to no chance the Powerwall will integrate with solar solutions except those made by Solar Ciry. And I'm sold on Sunpower as the solar manufacturer, not Solar City.
  25. Woosie

Best Way to Honor the Intent of the Tax Credit?

No, Tesla (I expect) to keep prices on the Model 3 to stay the same but add features as time goes on. Tesla would never disclose actual procurement, design, manufacturing and sustainment costs as these costs are variable and are necessarily less than purchase prices by consumers.

    Model 3 features?

Having sat and moved around the Bolt during Customer Surveys, I can tell you it's a very nice car, and my friend loves his s Volt. But the Model 3 is better, hopefully much better. I came from a Leaf that I loved but had to turn in from a three year lease. I think OTA software updates are...

Base Features Required to Seal the Deal on the Model 3

My significant other, when I talk about the Tesla, reminds me that it's fine if I get the car but I have to work an additional year to pay for it. Seriously though, I will get the longest range Tesla offers in the Model 3 and the glass roof (I'm 6'4") but pretty much everything else is...

I Edited silver model 3 with rims from orange M3 from unveil, what you think?

Nice photoshop job but I prefer the color/ rim combo that was at the Reveal. I'll pick that color if there's a deep clear coat over the silver paint. If it had a touch of blue hues (between the silver shown and my 1966 Silver Blue Mustang color), is be in heaven!!

    Wiki Model 3 Reservation Tally

I turned in my Leaf in February this year. Boy do I miss driving electric!! Even though I drive an older Prius now, I still have to get gasoline and change the oil, both of which I did yesterday. On the positive side, a 2020 date will result in a less buggy car with potential small upgrades...

Can someone please photo shop a white rendering of Model 3

Amazing, just amazing color renderings!! I don't care if this is simple for you- they are simply awesome. Thank you so much!! The oranger and purple colors reminds me of the mid-60's Mopars. I like the thought of Model 3 being the equivalent of a Mopar. Very appreciative!

Tesla confirms Model 3 will have less than 60kWh battery option

I averaged 4.6 mi/kWh for the. 3 year Leaf lease. The numbers are doable.
  37. Woosie

Had you already driven a Tesla before you ordered M3?

I send be a Leaf for three years but not a Tesla. I have a good idea of how awesome they will be. Driving a Prius now, and feel cheated from driving a BEV!!

    Wiki Model 3 Reservation Tally

I came from leasing a Nissan Leaf for three years; it replaced a Nissan Maxima that got about 20 mpg. I paid approx $160/mo in SoCal for gasoline and replaced that with a $40/mo electricity cost for the Leaf. This is for a 40-60 mile daily commute. While waiting for the Tesla to show I...

Best economy, cruise control or mild hypermile

That's a really good point. I don't like to drive much over 70 anymore so I tend to drive I the right lane on the freeway. However I do speed up in early morning traffic because nearly everyone - including the trucks - drives fast at that time.

Poll: Why do you want a Tesla? [from 2016]

Oh no, I'm infected too!! I'm a complete BEV fanboy as anyone at workplace knows. I came from a Leaf and I loved that car, barring the range. And it was fugly. One thing I truly miss - even driving a Prius now - is the QUIET! I loved driving in the morning with the windows down, enjoying...

Poll: Why do you want a Tesla? [from 2016]

Interesting poll but written as a fanboy. I would choose select portions of the pole entries as my personal reasons for choosing a Tesla but not all and most importantly for the reasons cited. Still the poll made me answer

"Bio-weapon defense mode" option - yes or no?

Meh. Put your car in recirculating mode and turn off the air if need be. It's a cool idea but not for $3K. If it comes in a package I want then I'll be appropriately happy for better air quality.
  43. Woosie

How will you pay for your new model 3?

A combo of borrowing against the 401K and credit union financing. Since I had a Leaf and I drive 10-12 K per year, a purchase makes the most sense. This is a typical 10-15 year purchase, like every car our family has owned (excepting the Leaf lease and my first car, a Triumph TR-4. I had that...

What type of car is Model 3 replacing for you?

A 2008 Toyota Prius Gen 2 with 142K miles. This is the replacement for 2013 Nissan Leaf S, who's lease came up in February. I miss the BEV driving experience!

Is a glass roof a concern for rear passengers when hitting a speed bump too fast?

Hitting a glass roof probably is more dangerous in an extreme case (see above for the unfortunate Corvette story) but not much in nearly any other event. I'm 6'3" and thump car ceilings all the time. I think I'm better off if I don't have to crane my neck sideways to "fit" in the back seat...

What is your true Model 3 budget?

I never saw a HUD option which I think many here would purchase. I don't feel it'll be part of the $35K base car, because the essential info is close to the driver's right hand.

How much would you pay for Supercharging on Model 3?

I anticipate there to be three options: no enabling, pay a one-time flat rate for lifetime enabling, or a deterministic pay for use rate to enable. For this last approach it is simple to use the Tesla website/app to enter a requested period of enabling supercharging; you pre-pay that charge and...

Is the Model 3 moving the climate needle? (Not really, no.)

Craig, I sat in and evaluated the Bolt about a year before it was unveiled, at a User Group review. Simply the car is pretty awesome and useful. The biggest issue is traditional OEM's have to break their dealership paradigm before BEV's will catch on. Dealerships don't see profit with BEV's, as...
