    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Plaid was delivered yesterday 10/9/2021. Kinda weird that there wasn't much of an in-service, but I'm still having a blast. This is one sexy demon.

To Plaid, or not to Plaid....that's a good question!

Just got my Plaid. Holllllllllly cow, the MF'er is faster. Continued to pull like a demon all the way up to the top speed I was comfortable with. And the horn can be changed to play La Cucaracha?!?! How am I only hearing about his now! I feel like I did when I was 16 and got my first...

To Plaid, or not to Plaid....that's a good question!

Three times now I've leased the faster(er) MS, and never regretted it. I can always make more money. But I only have some many years left to convince my kids that I'm cool.

Plaid - 4 days from order to delivery!

FWIW, my plaid (with white interior) is now scheduled for pick up this Saturday, October 9, 2021. Hope that helps others with projecting out their own pick up schedules.

Plaid - 4 days from order to delivery!

I looked into it, but the lease buyout was more than what comparable P100Ds were going for on EV-CPO Hunter when I made the decision to return the lease. It is in great condition - only 16,000 miles over three years. My initial plan was to buy it, drive it, then sell once the "2020" roadsters...

Plaid - 4 days from order to delivery!

I'm not complaining, because Tesla leasing keeps extending my P100D lease on a month-to-month basis. But that won't last forever.

Plaid - 4 days from order to delivery!

I ordered my Plaid 6/14/2021. Original delivery date was early-to-mid August. It has since been pushed to early to mid October. :( FWIW, deep blue metallic, white interior, arachnid rims. But this isn't my first rodeo, so this is not a surprise.

    FSD - Level 2

Ok, got the FSD beta (or whatever we're call it) this week. Anyone know where can I find a "how to" tutorial on this bad boy?

    Dual vs Tri-Motor

I have never regretted getting the faster one. Never. Life is short. Going fast is fun.

Should I buy a Plaid Model S or a Triple Motor CyberTruck?

Just reserved a tri CT, which will hopefully be available when the lease on my MS expires. The X-factor is whether the 202X roadster would be available sooner than the CT, but I seriously doubt it. I've already had a P85D and a P100D MS. Looking to change it up with the next vehicle. For now...

Tesla Chief Designer Says Roadster is Evolving

The better question is - where *wouldn't* you drive it?
  14. yo mama

When do you expect the first deliveries of the 2020 Roadster?

I wonder if Tesla would be more generous with extending our current leases if we're just trying to bridge the gap until roadster delivery?
  15. yo mama

    Where do I start.

Nah, the only EV that even remotely interests me around this price point *might* be the Porsche Mission E. But it would have to out-perform beyond all expectations, and the roadster massively under-perform, for that to be any kind of real decision.
  16. yo mama

    Where do I start.

It's only a minor hesitation. But I got my P85D and within three years the P100D was available. Got the P100D and within three years of that the roadster will be available. I love Tesla's innovation, which is one reason leasing appeals to me. I'm sold on the roadster, but it may be possible...

Broken Window Twice Within Two Weeks

Didn't know that. Regardless, the frunk is still safer than the back seat or rear trunk. I'm also unaware of any "quick release" function to open the frunk from inside the vehicle (without the fob). If I'm wrong about that, please let me know.
  18. yo mama

Broken Window Twice Within Two Weeks

Yeah, I learned that hard way that any valuables you're going to leave in the car should be in the frunk. Would-be thieves might still bust out your windows, but at least they can't steal your gear. And leaving anything in plain sight just invites unwelcome attention.

Gentlemen (and/or ladies), this is a wonderful site about Teslas. I'd respectfully ask that we all try to keep political discourse/exchanges to a minimum. Thank you

Broken Window Twice Within Two Weeks

I would strongly recommend letting an actual Tesla body shop deal with it. At least last year, there were problematic supply chain issues for the window glass because it was be allocated heavily to new production vehicles. So it took months and months to secure for repair purposes. At least...

Broken Window Twice Within Two Weeks

No. The $7k of damage was done to my old P85D in san francisco (both side windows plus body damage). I did file a police report but it never went any where because I had no evidence of who did the crime. The brick through the windshield, which was caught on video, was done to my wife's SUV...

Broken Window Twice Within Two Weeks

The first time around I used a "Tesla certified" third party body shop, and that repair time took like two months and cost $7k. My insurance only covered about 3-4 weeks of a rental car, and then abandoned me after that. But Tesla was super cool and gave me a loaner P100D because I agreed to...

    Where do I start.

I like your use of the word "need." I still can't figure out if the founder's model makes any sense. The lease on my current S isn't up until like September of 2021, so I'm in no rush to be first in line. [Insert "Tesla time" joke here]. And I'm still not clear on what the extra 50k gets...

    Broken Window Legal discussion

To be clear, it's a San Francisco municipal thing - not a California thing. And it's not uncommon for crimes against public servants or public property to be legally differentiated from crimes against their private counter parts. But I didn't get the impression this was a legal distinction...

Broken Window Twice Within Two Weeks

You changed the fact pattern to now involve a police car. I'm sure the police would view that a little differently. But, ya: when I confronted the cops with the surveillance video clearly showing who did what, they complained that they did not have the authority to arrest anyone for property...

Broken Window Twice Within Two Weeks

To the OP: I feel your pain. Happened to my last P85D twice - took forever and cost a ton to fix. The main advice I got from my service rep was to remove or flip up the visual barrier in the trunk area so they can see nothing is back there. People will break in just to look. The cops don't...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Picked up my P100D yesterday during the contract fiasco. Took a little longer than expected but ultimately I came away with a brilliant new vehicle. Drove the heck out of it yesterday and had a blast. Palpably faster and stronger than my old P85D with ludicrous. Apparently now I just have to...

    US Bank end of Lease

motherf***er. Someone busted out my side window tonight at dinner, just to rifle through my MS. They didn't even steal anything. That's the second time someone broke that same window in less than four months (one in San Francisco and this time in San Jose). And I just scheduled this lease...

    US Bank end of Lease

I'll be turning my lease in on or about 8/1/18. I'm way under on mileage, so that's good. I'll let y'all know how US Bank treats me on the little stuff, like curb rash and minor wear and tear. I took really good care of my P85D but three years in the real world is going to have an effect on...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

That's funny. I've had three different delivery specialists since I placed my order, and none of them have emailed me. And I've received two "out of office replies" from two when I tried to email them! I don't really care, but the contrast in our experiences is hilarious.

Parking in two spots to block “B” stall

At least the driver was there and could move their car if someone else needed to charge. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are brand new owners who are terrified of getting that first door ding/scratch. It's still a terrible parking job, but if literally *no one*...

wow tesla really sucks on getting parts!!

It's a tired subject. That said, I've certainly been on the receiving end of the slow parts delivery (over 3.5 months for broken side windows). It just goes with the territory of having a cutting edge, kind of exotic vehicle from a car company that is still new in its life cycle. I'm confident...

Have any P100D's with ventilated seats been delivered yet?

Curious about that too. The seats were my family's only major gripe when we got our first MS. Hopefully the ventilated seats will appease them.

Ordered my new P100D 6/10/18. Order confirmed/finalized 6/13/18. Currently scheduled for production, and a VIN has been assigned. I know it won't come until late July (at the earliest) but I'm still giddy.

    Wall Charger

I'm also considering what to do with the referral wall charger. I have zero (negative?) experience with electrical stuff. But my garage does have a 220v outlet that I currently use for charging. Can that be re-purposed for the wall charger, or is mounting the wall charger a more involved...

    Proposed Solution to Nag Issue

Disagree. The law of attractive nuisance pertains to minors, who the law presumes are unable appreciate the risk posed by some object (trampoline, pool, cage full of tigers, etc.) that exists on someone else's land. If the kid gets hurt, the law of attractive nuisance allows the plaintiff to...

I was a delivery specialist for many years- Ask Me Anything

Meh, I just leased a new P100D. I'll get the tour when I pick that up. That said, I did *not* know I could have rescheduled the tour myself. My prior DS suggested they would take care of that for me, but never did. My bad for not exercising more self-help, I suppose. Live and learn!

I was a delivery specialist for many years- Ask Me Anything

I think the main difference is that you actually got your car. I never got my tour. That said, if the failure to deliver caused a major delay in receiving your car, or you incurred costs in having to make other arrangements, then I totally see your point. If, on the other hand, you're a quick...

I was a delivery specialist for many years- Ask Me Anything

I was promised a factory tour in Fremont when I picked up my P85D. That didn't happen because they were retooling the robots at the time, and Tesla never followed up to reschedule. Afterwards, all I had to show for my purchase was a futuristic rocketship of a car that has made me happy every...

I was a delivery specialist for many years- Ask Me Anything

Hmmm. I find that the best remedy for depression is actually being in a Tesla. I upgraded my P85D back in the day. :shrugs: And as far as motivating the good people at Tesla, I've never actually given anything to anyone. But for some reason I keep forgetting to remove really nice bottles of...

21 inch turbine wheel crack survey

I empathize with how you feel. That's why I went with the forged arachnids on my new MS. Live and learn. Let go of the rest - Elon ain't gonna give you a refund. (Though I would gladly take a "not a flamer thrower," if he has an extra one of those lying around....)

The most common recommendation that I have seen (and ignored) is to avoid driving on the 21" wheels. The 19" ones have far fewer problems. But the 21" inch rims are just too sexy.

Warning before you buy a tesla model S

I was without my MS from March 15 until today, so I feel your pain. Parts/inventory management is a problem with Tesla because they are using most of that for new production.
