Take out HV batt pack / cut out bad cell? (S P85+)

Thanks for your kind response. Please is it the disparity in voltage match, or that the replacement BMB ID address assignment does not match the original BMD ID address assignment? I had pressed the reset button on the BMS board with the hope it will resolve ID addressing conflicts. Put...

Take out HV batt pack / cut out bad cell? (S P85+)

Hear hear. There is a solution. But my pack is out in Lagos, Nigeria. Shipping Tesla Lithium Battery Packs or individual modules is difficult if not impossible. What's the nature of solution? Got caught in Elon's X, Y or Z tesla battery degradation palaver, and like the gooey ooze draining...

Take out HV batt pack / cut out bad cell? (S P85+)

Thanks for the explanation wk057. If Tesla can refurbish a 16 module pack (85,90,100kwh packs) to 14 module packs, why is that not done by DIYers and repair shops? Cannot the main BMS board be reprogramed as a 15 or more likely, as a 14 module pack with a corresponding 2/16 drop in range?

    2021 MB S Class Interior

I wonder how many owners went from MB to Tesla but the difference in interior appointment, look and finish (plus wear and tear) is/was striking. But in a bow to Elon, Mercedes Benz has gone for a minimalist look in the 2021 edition of the S Class. Gone is the instrument cluster with numerous...

    T-Diag by Diagcode

There is a new diagnostic tool for Tesla Model S/X (not the Model 3). Its out of Europe. Its called the T-Diag by Diagcode, Apparently does not need rooting and has ability to redeploy. Works off of the OBD2 port. Here's a YouTube link for a demo on the tool.

Check Out the Cybertruck Promo Photos

Had rather hoped it will look something like the picture in the above post. Nice compromise though. If only they have a version that is scaled up in size x2, I will buy one.

Warning, rebooting v10 on MCU1 while driving

Could have. A car with electric arm traffic indicators cost a fortune in the fifties. The standard accessory that came with every car was called ‘arm signaling’. The option set for a vehicle having automatic traffic direction signaling (indicator) would have included hot air climate heaters...

FSD computer HW3 or HW2.5 tracking sheet

On the features spreadsheet Model 3 HW3 computers, I see an attempt to find harmony in hardware and software versions, release dates, model, and features for various regions of the world. That may be futile as different regions and jurisdictions have different approvals for various features and...

FSD computer HW3 or HW2.5 tracking sheet

Seems like if you paid for FSD you got HW3. If not, could end up getting HW2.5. What is it that those not on FSD missing with HW2.5? Probably would get HW3 upgrade on paying for FSD?

    3/Y size comparison (gif)

Great work. Will be interesting to superimpose the S/Y.

This will be an unpopular view but...

Maybe that is the mission, and only payback as less zealots by into the brand. Wish those that complain about what other people pay for their car will go buy a Leaf or Smart car though. I say, love your car or divorce her.

Tesla needs to refresh the Model S, asap.

Tesla knew next to nothing about the automobile market or high end sedans when they started (or so we think). Yet quite a lot of people bought into the dream. There are indeed common and major components in the Semi and the other cars - battery technology, charging technology, motor design and...

Tesla needs to refresh the Model S, asap.

Part of the MISSION is to move the world from polluting ICEs to EVs, and to make a profit whilst at it. Semis and Pickup are next in line. Then Ocean going ships. If it means a facelift every tens years, so be it. Others manufacturers will give enough facelift alright. Oh by the way, I need the...

    Standard 85 uncorking?

I am pretty sure that an S85 car with the earlier type rear tubular frame will not be upgraded to a P85 by Tesla. I needed to repair structural damage to my P85 around the rear strut tower support. That required that I check out cable routing and proximity to other stuff in a Tesla body repair...

    Jon McNeill to depart Tesla

Jon McNeil has not left Tesla. He is only on a sabbatical to Lyft. Elon believes earth’s long time energy and climate change solution is not only to move over to electric drivetrains but to severely limit the number of vehicles produced. He knows most vehicles spend most of their lifetime...

Difference in Model S P85 left and right hand air suspenstion struts

I installed the strut marked LHS by Tesla on the car right hand side, wheel was not centered in the wheel well. I then replaced the adapter plate on that strut with the original RHS plate and wheel now centered. Looking at attached pictures, I cannot see any difference in both plates though. You...

Difference in Model S P85 left and right hand air suspenstion struts

I ordered a replacement RHS rear air strut. I have just now discovered that Tesla has labeled the replacement strut as LHS. The OEM supplier, Bilstein however have them labeled with the same part number. The 3 stud upper mounting plate, and the orientation of the lower bolt mount hole appears...

    The Tesla / Mobileye story

Fantastic stuff. Truly amazing stuff. Completely autonomous car and trucks. Darting here and there. So it is 2024. The Southern Wall is up and all the truck drivers and taxi drivers State Side have lost their jobs and cannot benefit from the current zero tax regime and hyper Wall Street growth...

An Open Letter about My Model X Body Repair Experience...

Ummh. I thought I was stuck up a rabbit hole of my own choosing. Glad OP still loves his Tesla. Tesla body shops will quickly materialize to solve this problem - there is a lot of money to be made. The Model 3 will guarantee that. Anybody here know where I can get 4145 MIG welding wire...

    Model S P85 in Lagos

Hi guys. I recently got me a Tesla Model S. It is a P85 with pneumatic suspension. Using a Copart term, it now ‘Runs and Drive’, but it will need a little teeny weeny bit of work to make it perfect. It had suffered a little bit of undercarriage damage on the friont and rear LHS suspension (see...

    Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO
