Will the free FSD trial convince you to purchase FSD?

Until Tesla takes liability for accidents/insurance while it's in use (L3/L4/L5?), I wouldn't pay that much for it. I can't even stop the wipers from working without having to look at the screen (don't tell me to push the stalk and use the scroll wheel, because that triggers the wipers AGAIN)...

Model 3 and Y the same price now in Canada

Dear goodness, I hope so. So sick of the Model Y. It's so ugly. And everyone is cheap so they just choose white. Blehhhghh. And the race to the bottom with everyone getting into bigger and bigger vehicles is so annoying.

    Still no transformer.

    Supercharger - McBride, BC

Sweet! Way further along than I expected. Here's hoping it's done soon!

Non Tesla DC chargers are really expensive!

Yeah, that's pretty steep, but not far off Tesla's $0.59/kWh cost in Alberta. BC is around $0.33/kWh.

Supercharger - Calgary, AB - Macleod Trail Southeast

LOL. This place is going to be done before 130th Ave :)

    Maybe you're thinking of Bassano.

    Supercharger - Brooks, Alberta

Has anyone been to Brooks lately and is able to check this place out now that Kindersley is under construction? I wonder if this one might be next?

    Western Canada Superchargers

Yup. Seems a bit premature, but who's going to complain about more SuperChargers?! I think they should have put them in Field, BC or at Rogers Pass.
  10. D

    Supercharger - Golden, BC Canada

Definitely in the Subway parking lot. Google Maps Too bad it's on the same side of the highway as the other one, but oh well, the more the merrier. The sushi place (Q's) right there is really good!

Fantastic news!! Good options for being able to skip Bassano or other SCs on the Hwy 1 route.

    Charging Around Drumheller?

All of the DCFCs anywhere close to Drumheller are way out of the way if you're from Edmonton. @RadScientist best bet is to get an overnight charge and try to snake a L2 charge somewhere, at least to get you to Red Deer if possible or, at the very least, Olds where there is a 50kW charger (if you...

How worried about vandalism are you?

Why would I live in fear about scary conservatives? I am one and many of the people around are too. It's super annoying that people assume that Tesla drivers are making political statements. This world is not black and white. Maybe you should move to Democrat Spokane, Washington...

Rogers is the carrier for Tesla Canada?

That's odd... I thought they were with Telus. I believe that's the case in Western Canada, since my car has better coverage when out in the boonies than my Rogers phone.

BC and Alberta get new CCS1 charging network via Chevron - Tip: it's currently free!

Yup, already used the one in Golden. 150kW is nice! Actual source: EV Chargers | On the Run

Have Elon's antics changed Canadians' views towards Tesla?

I don't get why people care about celebrity culture so much. I use Microsoft products all day long, do I care what Satya Nadella does in his free time? Heck no. I eat Kelloggs cereal every morning, do I care what Steve Cahillane does in his bedroom or at his afterparties on the weekend? heck no...

Supercharger - Revelstoke, BC - Victoria Rd.

You might need to sell your car. Pretty nasty bug on the side. On the plus side, a transformer is present, hopefully soon!!

Supercharger - Revelstoke, BC - Victoria Rd.

Still no meter or transformer as of last week.

Any news about costing by kWh instead of by time to supercharge?

Costs will not likely go down. This will possibly have the negative side effect of letting people stick around and charge to 100% more, since they're no longer paying per minute - it will be more beneficial for slower charging unfortunately.

Hertz Employees Taking Up Entire Superchargers - Charging to 100%!

You can manually override the 80% max charge limit when it's busy. Just don't tell anyone how if they're wearing a Hertz shirt. ;) It's possible that these cars were on their way to Edmonton, and the Hertz staff were under instruction to charge to 100% so that they would for sure be able to make...

Supercharger - Revelstoke, BC - Victoria Rd.

Perhaps a nomenclature difference from where we're from. I always referred to any sort of rigid camping device on wheels as an RV. That included tent trailers, pull-trailers, fifth wheels and motorhomes. But yes, the Internet is full of people pulling various sizes of trailers (camping style or...

Driving to BC & Alberta, what network cards are needed for Chademo?

Can we offer you some oil instead? Lots of that lying around! haha There is a Chademo at Canadian Tire on Southland/Macleod trail in the SW. But a lack of SuperChargers and DC, for sure. The SW is mainly residential and some small commercial shopping outlets. They definitely need a SC in that...

Hertz Employees Taking Up Entire Superchargers - Charging to 100%!

This could be a one-off as perhaps Hertz was likely just taking delivery of all their cars. This is new. What's the likelihood that all their rentals need SuperCharging at the exact same time? It's not like Calgary will have that many total. I suspect this problem will sort itself out quickly...

Driving to BC & Alberta, what network cards are needed for Chademo?

Very. Check out the Plugshare app if you haven't already. BC Hydro will often let users know many days in advance if they're going to be out of service.
  27. D

Supercharger - Revelstoke, BC - Victoria Rd.

Agreed, it's a good "location" but long term, Tesla really needs to look into pull-through stalls, which are basically going to have to be purpose-built SuperCharger sites. La Baguette is so busy nowadays - my goto is Nomad for quick eats :) We snowboard in Revy a lot, so usually the 120V at...
  28. D

Supercharger - Revelstoke, BC - Victoria Rd.

What a big fail not having at least one pull-through stall available. There is sooooo much RV traffic on this highway, and every time we're in Revy, there's always people with bikes, trailers, boats, sleds (yes, snowmobiles) and even RVs being pulled behind their Teslas now. This parking lot has...

Driving to BC & Alberta, what network cards are needed for Chademo?

You don't need any Chademo from Vancouver to Calgary. You can use the SuperCharger network just fine. Some of the highways are only rated at 90km/h so you won't be able to go too fast, keeping usage in check. However, you will want to get the Flo app and if you have enough time, get the Flo card...

Any news about costing by kWh instead of by time to supercharge?

I'd like to see another jurisdiction where that's actually an issue. You're in Calgary too... I see probably 10-20 Teslas before I see any other EV. This won't be a problem for a long time, if ever. There are more DCFC stations than Tesla SC stations, so there's no incentive for a Bolt, etc. to...

Any news about costing by kWh instead of by time to supercharge?

They declined Tesla getting temporary access before the full review is finished... which will most likely allow this, just not yet. It's fair. But sadly we'll just have to wait the slow pace of government to get this approved eventually. And I hope NO ONE thinks that this will reduce costs for...

Supercharger - Revelstoke, BC - Victoria Rd.

While I am absolutely thrilled that Revelstoke is finally getting an upgrade from their 4-stall V2 Supercharger in the middle of the mountain region, there will definitely be ICEing here. That parking lot is usually quite full as it's the main grocery store for local residents. Fortunately...

Glass roof toughness when removing ice?

One word: I hate lazy drivers. Brush the damn snow and ice off your car! You're reducing the visibility of everyone following you and being a hazard on the road. One more word: Video appears to show motorist clearing windshield of snow while driving on Toronto highway Damn, I wish they did...

    Supercharger - Osoyoos, BC

This is a fantastic location for the community - far enough off of the strip/Hotels to not be perpetually ICEd/EVd, close enough to many decent restaurants, downstown shops and only a few minute walk to the beach. This is a great location for the region - it's at a crossroads of Hwy 3 and 97...

Canada Section - are there guidelines for Canada specific content?

I agree with @sakimano I only want to see relatively Canadian-specific content in here. There is way too much general information that is bogging down the SNR. I like to see Canadian- or cold weather-specific content only. If I wanted to read about every single firmware or autopilot update, I'd...

    Canadian Stores and Service Centers

"A" guy? So, a mobile ranger has to look after the thousands of cars that are spread over a few provinces? Do you know how far Edmonton is from Calgary? Or actual Northern Alberta? Chicken and egg... you have to have a service center (and the staff) to service vehicles you want to sell. AB may...

    Canadian Stores and Service Centers

Really disappointing. The staff aren't all that old so I can't imagine they're going to save a lot of money by cutting back on salaries considering the cost to retrain whoever is hired to replace. The SC was busy last time I was there and the back lot was packed with vehicles on my way home from...

    Electrify Canada

If you build it, they'll come. You could likely cover the entire Trans Canada for 10-20 million with DCFC. To only cover urban areas primarily is worrying about $$$$ and not supporting the cause -- VW is only in this to make money. There is a critical mass of people with EVs in cities-- enough...

    Canadian Rockies Trip

It's mainly due to the lack of electric infrastructure. If my memory serves correctly, there is not even an electric grid into Saskatchewan River Crossing, nor at the Columbia Icefields. All the electricity to run those operations is provided by diesel generator. I'll let you determine whether...

    Dashcam Group Buy - GTA Only - Model S, 3, and X!

I missed the previous group buy, but I'd possibly be in if they can ship out West (or if someone can do that for those of us not in the GTA) Future 3, no install.

    Automated car wash

No, I'm talking hand wand-wash. The ones where you hold the pressure washer and choose between soap/rinse/wax/brush. Do those not exist in Ontario? It takes maybe 10 minutes and $10 tops to get a good clean. An automatic one takes like 5 minutes (if there's no lineup) and does a poor job anyway.

    Automated car wash

You don't have 5 minutes to hand-wash your car? Your time must be really valuable ;)
