Supervise self driving goes too close

The manual says it isn’t a button, but if it is, I wish Tesla had made that the way to enable/disable AP, which would have been more intuitive. The manual describes that control as an “identifier that is always illuminated to indicate that the right scroll wheel can be used with cruise control.”...

Do I have the only Model S with license plate holes in the front bumper?

I’ve had 3 Model S’s in the US, and none of them had visible holes for the front license plate bracket, just adhesive.

Why does FSD keep changing lanes all the time?

Depending on which model you have, you can access the Minimal Lane Changes option by pressing the right scroll wheel left or right. This also changes the following distance profile (Chill, Average, Assertive). Note that Minimal Lane Changes doesn’t eliminate all unnecessary lane changes, but it...

seat heat won't work from app

It might be that the seat heaters don’t operate unless someone is sitting in them. Try using the app while you’re sitting in the car.

Does $2k upgrade from EAP to FSD include upgrading CW 2.5 to FSD computer for free?

I responded in the other thread you started, but there’s no reason not to upgrade to HW3 because it won’t cost anything and it will improve your FSD experience. The app might have stopped showing the HW3 upgrade because it’s no longer something you have to pay for.
  7. EVRider-FL

Tesla playing games on FSD upgrade 2018 Model 3 FSD?

No reason not to upgrade the computer, since it won’t cost you anything. You won’t get the full FSD experience without HW3.
  8. EVRider-FL

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

Right, if you want to use FSD, it’s a no brainer. If you’re buying FSD just to future proof your car but don’t plan to use it much, it might not be the best option. I don’t know if I’m going to buy it or not.

Supervise self driving goes too close

I haven’t been able to move the right scroll wheel left or right in my S, even though I’ve had no trouble doing this in my other Teslas. The manual says this: “There is currently no action associated with pushing the right scroll button to the left and right.” There’s no cruise control button...

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

Buying FSD for $2k is better than paying $100/month, but if you’re not going to use it much, why bother? If the FSD transfer promotion is happening when you’re ready to buy your next Tesla, you could buy FSD at that point to preserve your investment in EAP.
  11. EVRider-FL

Does $2k upgrade from EAP to FSD include upgrading CW 2.5 to FSD computer for free?

Some people have gotten free HW3 upgrades even without FSD, according to other posts here. If you buy FSD, you’re definitely entitled to the free upgrade. Buy FSD before having service upgrade the computer to make sure you’re covered.

Supervise self driving goes too close

Doesn’t work in the new Model S, but does in the 3/Y and the older S. Oddly, the left/right function of the right scroll wheel is not yet implemented in the new S, so trying to go left/right is the same as pressing the scroll wheel, which disengages AP.

    Tesla FSD now $8k

I also bought EAP in my 2023 Model S (I had FSD in my previous S), but I’m not ready to buy FSD again yet, even for $2k. I don’t need it most of the time, and I’m hoping Tesla reduces the FSD subscription price for those of us with EAP, since we had a discount before the price change. My wife’s...

Making left/right turns during FSD on city streets

Well, you can go for a drive, but the turn signals don’t initiate turns (yet), even though the manual says otherwise. Others have reported that if you don’t set a destination but have Automatic Navigation enabled, FSD might try to navigate to a specific destination, but I haven’t experienced that.

Playing own music in 2024 Model Y

Thanks for clarifying. I missed the note in the manual about the exclusion for newer vehicles. We haven’t tried using the console USB ports in our 2023 MY because we use Apple Music. As others have noted, Bluetooth streaming is an option if the OP doesn’t want to partition the USB drive in the...

    Program for specific conditions?

Learning is based on data collected from the entire fleet. While it would be helpful, your car doesn’t learn individually.

    Tesla FSD now $8k

There’s another thread about that here: FSD now $8,000. Who's buying?. According to that thread, EAP is no longer available. I learned about the price decrease from that thread. Not sure how others found out.

Supervise self driving goes too close

Can you elaborate on what happened? I’ve not heard of any car on FSD or AP rear ending another car. The previous reply answered your question as I was composing this reply. You can also adjust the following distance setting by pushing the right scroll wheel left or right.

Playing own music in 2024 Model Y

You don’t need to do anything with the dashcam USB in the glovebox. There are two additional USBs in the front compartment of the center console, which you can use for music.

    Weird whining noise model s

I couldn’t hear any whine in your video, but our 2023 Model Y infrequently whines when driving. I suspect the noise is coming from the climate control, but Tesla has been unable to find any issues. What year is your Model S? I assume it’s a newer one since you said it had a heat pump.

    2019 awdLR

If the car is an early 2019 model, it might not include AP, since basic AP didn’t become standard until April 2019 or so. If that matters to you, check into it.

    Heatmap for parking

To overcome the lack of accuracy, I turn on the rear camera when pulling into my garage at home. When parking in a parking lot, I prefer the vision-based approach, especially the rendering of lot lines.

Help with Tesla Loan/Name on order agreement

Tesla should be able to change the owner before you rake delivery. When I ordered my wife’s car using my account, I was able to make her the owner without doing anything special, maybe in the app. There was no loan in my case.

  32. EVRider-FL

    Heatmap for parking

You’re seeing vision-based Park Assist, which is used in newer Teslas without USS (ultrasonic sensors). Your car probably has USS, so it still uses the older Park Assist with distances. I guess vision-based Park Assist has come a long way, because most people complained about it at first and...

    New Model Y Purchase Observations

Full Self-Driving Capability just means you can buy or subscribe to FSD, not that you already have it. To see what you have now, look at the Controls > Software screen in the car.
  34. EVRider-FL

    How define spot for parking?

Your individual car doesn’t learn, but the data sent back to Tesla from the fleet is used to train the neural network that FSD uses. Trying to get one car to do something unusual isn’t going to impact the fleet. Maybe someday the car will be able to do what you want, preferably without having to...

2018 Model S purchased with FSD

The fact that HW3 cars won’t be able to upgrade to HW4 was mentioned by Elon when HW4 was launched, and widely discussed here and in other media. I don’t have a specific link, but you can easily find that information. The issue is that HW4 has a different form factor, which would be very...

    Feature Request: Walk-Away Door *Closing*

Maybe that’s possible on the X, but the S doesn’t have auto open/close doors, so it would take more than code. If they fixed the notification issues, they wouldn’t need to add a new feature.

Sentry events but no footage? Without buying an external SSD

When you reformat the USB, make sure there’s a TeslaCam folder. There was a time when formatting in the car didn’t always create one, don’t know if that’s still an issue. If that’s not it, try a different USB. The USBs that came with our Teslas are still working for us. You don’t need an SSD.

    New Tesla Wave for FSD

The “thrill of FSD” will hopefully go away when it works the way it should. 🙂
  39. EVRider-FL

I've never received any notice about getting the car serviced

I recall Elon saying that the car (or app) would alert you if it detects an issue that requires service, but I don’t think it does that just based on time or mileage. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an alert like that in 8 years of Tesla ownership.

    How define spot for parking?

Self parking ought to work in a real parking space, but not the way you’re trying to use it. Seems like a lot of trouble to go through to avoid parking manually in your driveway. If I navigate home using FSD, the car will stop in the street in front of my house, it doesn’t turn into the...

Any way to REMOVE a downloaded software update??

When you were in Service Mode, did you see any error messages about the failed update? If there’s a hardware issue, have Tesla Service check it out. Until then, you can wait for a newer update and hope that one installs correctly. Updates are cumulative so it doesn’t matter if 2024.3.15 gets...

2018 Model S purchased with FSD

Which hardware updates were you hoping for? You’re never going to get HW4 or beyond in your car, but FSD today doesn’t use any HW4 capabilities, so you’re not missing anything yet. Did the previous owner or you already get the free HW3 upgrade? If not, you should do that.

12.3.4 does a poor job of ending trip at charger

Some day it might work the way you want it to, but until then you’ll need to finish the trip manually. There are plenty of other things FSD can’t do yet.

    Charging in the Florida

Even if you go all the way to Key West, you won’t need more than one charging stop to make the round trip from Hallandale. If you’re staying at a hotel in the keys, you could look for one with a destination charger, which would eliminate the need for a supercharger stop. Last time I stayed in...

    FSD experience

Are you actually seeing anything in the UI when you use the scroll wheel? I don’t. I’m not getting too hung up on the definition of a highway. The point was that whenever the car thinks it needs to switch to “highway” mode, using the FSD v11 stack, the auto speed offset will be disabled and you...
  46. EVRider-FL

    FSD experience

Correct, the scroll can’t change the speed when you’re using the auto speed offset. However, the auto speed is only used on city streets — it reverts back to the non-auto setting when you’re on the highway, in which case you can use the scroll wheel again.
  47. EVRider-FL

what's the subscription FSD rate for people with existing EAP?

You can disable FSD at any time, so no need to pay.🙂 Minimal lane changes helps, but sometimes the car changes lanes unnecessarily even with that on, especially if you use the new auto speed offset option.
  48. EVRider-FL

    FSD experience

You can set a speed offset above the speed limit, either relative (%) or absolute (mph). See the manual for details. Used for TACC too, so not specific to FSD.

FSD on 2.0 ...free upgrade to 3.0?

I thought any car with FSD (purchased, not subscribed) was eligible for the free HW3 upgrade, regardless of who purchased it. However, there have been recent reports here lately of people without FSD getting free HW3 upgrades, so it might be a moot point. Don’t know if things are different in...

    V11.1 to V12

The 2024.8.x builds don’t have FSD v12 yet, so you’ll have to wait until Tesla updates that branch. Note that the v11.1 shown in the first post is the UI version, not the FSD version. All builds, including those with FSD v12, are UI version v11.1.
