    Model S Leasing?

In Elon's latest email he alludes to a Leasing option. Does anyone have any details like when this might be available?

    Charging the Roadster

But seriously, will the cord reach the 12 feet to the wall socket in the garage?

    Keyless Door Entry

Seems like a rather long step out and big loss of underbody area to place things. Does seem kinda cool though.

    Another Model S feature wishlist

I recently saw an ad for the Volvo V60 collision avoidance system which stops the car before a collision. Sounds like a nice standard or even option.

    WhiteStar dashboard?

The more shots I see of the large screen, the more intrusive it seems with all the extra light it appears to emit during night time driving.

    WhiteStar feature requests

I wonder how much weight would actually be saved by using a carbon fiber frame and how much would that weight savings go towards increasing range, and thus reducting the quantity of batteries to reach the current range goals? Could we actually end up with a close offset of cost?

The AWD (All Wheel Drive) option

I would guess that having AWD will also be a good way to go for a sports version of the vehicle. It would allow reduced power to a single motor, thus less cooling requirement and greater regen to make up for additional weight and hopefully resulting in less range reduction.

    45 Minute quick charge?

I think it doesn't much matter what is currently being said. We won't know what we'll actually get until we get it and it may have little to do with what we expected or were previously told.

    Model S specs

Was anyone able to get the specs on the Signature series model?

    Charging Station standards

I don't see having a recharge station at McDonalds as being practical since people wouldn't normally be spending much time at a fast food restaurant.

Tesla Increases Prices for Existing 2008 Orders

I seriously hope so, but how can we be sure it won't happen?

Tesla Increases Prices for Existing 2008 Orders

Has anyone gotten the notice yet that the battery pack specs are changing? The new standard battery will have 27 kw and an aptional battery with 53 kw will be added to the options list for an additional 20k. If "anything can change", then what else will be removed from the standard vehicle...

    Project Better Place

We don't need battery swapping or rapid recharging stations in the near term! I believe that BEV vehicles will get a great start just focusing on individuals that can afford them, have low daily commuting requirements, and can recharge at home. Once BEV vehicles become more prevalent, then it...

    The ATVMIP

I would be surprised if the Volt program wouldn't qualify, for GM.

    That Little Water Pump

If something isn't working as we'd like it to, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a design defect. I've taken a vehicle into the dealership before where something wasn't as I expected, wanted, or felt was reasonable and was told 'working as designed'. However I would guess that if enough folks...

    Horizontal Wind Turbines

Don't these horizontal wind turbines have a problem with wind directionality, limiting there usage in areas where wind direction changes?

    Next Tesla store location(s)?

Sorry, just couldn't help myself. Also forgot to put in an appropriate emote! But I do hope that anywhere downtown in Miami is not considered; perhaps a little north and/or west?
  18. M

    Next Tesla store location(s)?

In Florida, let's also put some consideration on a spot that will most likely not be under water in a few years.

    WhiteStar styling ideas

I do hope that whatever comes out, that there is still sufficient headroom. I understand that the Mercedes CLS is a bit limited in the back seat.

    WhiteStar styling ideas

I'm kinda thinking that an Audi Avant or Volvo V60-70 type look wouldn't be to bad. Or, how about the Lotus designed APX or ZAP-X?

    WhiteStar styling ideas

Wouldn't a Prius also be considered a hatchback?
  22. M

    REEVs

Oh well. I guess the new Tesla CEO has made a decision with his comment: 'Of course not just another car maker but the only one committed to exclusively make Zero Emission Electric Vehicles', that Tesla will NOT be considering a lower cost PHEV. Seems a shame IMHO.

    Martin's crashed Roadster?!?

Insurance companies sure aren't going to like the fact that having a fender bender is suffient to consider the vehicle 'totaled'. Well, maybe just a tad more than a fender bender, but darn.
  24. M

    Daimler Tesla Whitestar?

I personally think that MB has a great opportunity to match their DiesOtto engine as a generator for a Hybrid. The combination of technologies looks like it would go a long way towards maximizing the efficiency of a serial hybrid.

    Banned from the Owner's Forum

So, a forum is only allowed to focus on positives, eh? Well I guess 'silence is golden' sometimes. I'm really beginning to feel that TM is at the point that even if they do something positive it might be too late. I'm thiniking it may be time to request a refund, since it appears that owner's...

Seems Martins car is finished now

I'm not sure I'd be very happy with being notified that I was having a 'new' car delivered to me that had already been in an accident, unless I could be relatively sure that the damage was very minimal. I wonder what compromise will occur, other than the obvious that Martin will continue to wait.

EV Innovations Inc. - "evii" (was Hybrid Technologies)

Wouldn't the exhaust pipes be needed for the range extender? They seem to be planning two versions, one all electric and the other with a range extender.

Zenn highway car powered by EEstor

Actually it seems as though there might be a use for having a battery backup system (utilizing ultracaps) at home. When capturing excess energy generated via solar panels, that energy could be stored in this backup system. This excess energy would be useable by either the home, should there be...

Seems Martins car is finished now

Seems like TM is staying on the road fairly well, although some folks might have problems with how they use their turn signals.

    Compare to the Volt

I would think it might be more appropriate to say ' capable but ....'. Ford and Toyota both seem to be doing quite a bit of dragging their heels in making any real commitments to getting back in the EV ring. Can't really blame them much though; until the price of batteries are more affordable...

$60,000 deposit requirement for 2009 model

Who's going to wait a year or so and then offer to submit a deposit of 65k, or more, in order to get placed at the top of the reservations list for the 2009 model? Perhaps Tesla will 'allow' us to place bids for placement on the reservations list.

    Campaign to reinstate Martin

I would agree that unless, and until, Martin actually speaks out on what his specific interest and goal is; that it would be best if we wait until then to provide whatever support he would like us to provide. I don't believe there will be any swaying of Tesla Management except via investors or...

    The Price of admission

I'm sure we're all aware that Tesla is charging a fee of $60k to reserve a Roadster and that they are estimating that the 2009 model, reserved now, can be expected in ~ 15 months. I'm wondering how many of the folks that had put down a $5k deposit have decided to leave the reservation pool...

    What will Martin do Next?

? - Please don't just drop a hint like that and not give us a little more.

    Compare to the Volt

Although your statement that it would be more efficient to power the elctric motor directly from the ICE while routing the excess electricity to the battery does seem to make sense, it does not appear to be the way that the GM engineers plan to implement (at least currently). It seems that they...

    Maintenance cost at purchase time

Service charge is waived! Great news y'all. Tesla has decided to waive the 8k service fee. Owners will need to get their vehicles to a service station (as needed) using whatever method is available/beneficial to them. This eliminates the need to consider how to rebate any of the service...

    Maintenance cost at purchase time

I understand that there is still an 8k service charge, at time of purchase, for those living outside a service area. Can anyone say how long this coverage is for; e.g., the life of the car, 5 years...? Does it only cover getting the vehicle to a service center, but not cover any actual...

Elon Musk Writes About Living With P1

After reading Elon's posting, I couldn't help thinking that just because the seats are not the most comfortable for Elon, doesn't mean that the seats aren't the most comfortable for many others. What I hope happens is that Elon gets a seat developed that is adjustable for a range of body types...

The future cost of electric cars vs ICE cars

Thanks domenick. I'm also thinking that unless the swapping infrastructure is run by a monopoly, like the one being planned for Israel, then it would be a less than desirable business to have to worry about getting reimbursement of battery packs which need repair or refurbishing. In this case...

The future cost of electric cars vs ICE cars

I still don't understand why it seems to be acceptable that it makes more sense for an infrastructure for exchanging batteries than it does for one where vehicles are recharged? Seems to me that even ignoring the likelihood of people not wanting to give up a new battery to be replaced by an...

Customer Town Hall Meeting II Information

I remember reading recently that M. Bricklins Visionary Vehicles project expects to utilize an electric motor which produces almost no excess heat. Although he didn't go into details regarding the motor, I would wonder whether it might behove Tesla to check out the possibility of adopting an...

Roadster #1 on its way plus more

Wow! This sounds like it should remain as the long term (final) solution. Having a single gear would also allow greater passing response at normal highway speeds. I believe that the purchasers would be willing to forego any post purchase transmission replacement with this as the solution...

Roadster #1 on its way plus more

I wonder if we're setting our expectations too high regarding the ability to retain the previously advertised top speed. I would guess that it would more likely be that the current top speed will be limited to 100 or so; which I don't think is that much of a detriment.

I keep hoping that someone other than ZAP takes over and develops the ZAP-X, since ZAP won't be doing it!

    Chinese BYD EV

It mentions that the BYD battery uses Lithium IRON similar to A123's battery. Would this be adding another environmental issue (the IRON) as far as recycling? I wonder if this would mean that the solution proposed for battery technology by LG Chem would be somewhat better environmentally?

    Solar Installation

Size Matters I wonder where the specifics are published that could be quoted to ensure that you really are, or are not, sized properly? If you were to have to go to court, what could you point to and say that you were within whatever the Edison compliance rules were? Many of us could...

    OhmExcited's CO2 study

Thanks. Sorry to say that I was hoping that the CO2 footprint would have a somewhat better showing for the electric vehicle. But I guess the best way to look at it is that it allows for further reduction in CO2 generation depending on the source of the electricity and ICE vehicles don't really...

    Solar Installation

Perhaps you (X-CEOsWife) and Martin, as a team, will get into a business of building energy efficient homes; perhaps as a subsidiary of a national builder (not limited to your local area) so that your concept could be marketed as an option?
