Lets say I was the administrator of an index fund that sees Tesla becoming part of the S&P 500 in Q2. It would seem best to buy some calls today to exercise them when I need to add Tesla to the portfolio right ? That would be better than buying the shares right now and having to show that 5%...

You can just email them ([email protected]), thats what i did when i got my delivery date (over 60days after ordering) knowing the rates had gone down. They quickly updated it to the new rate.

Patience guys, I ordered my SR+ red & white on march 18th and just received a date last week, for the 8th of june ! Looking like they will deliver many cars in june in Canada, then probably nothing for at least a month.

Finnaly got a VIN and tentative 8th of june delivery date ! SR+ red & white ordered 18th of march. VIN ends with 322XXX tho, which seems really old compared to what i've been reading lately...

Wow 10 days from order to delivery ? so many people (me included) who have been waiting over a month with still no VIN for theses red & white :( Can only hope they are building a bunch right now and we'll get them soon !

Same here in Montreal ! Put down my reservation on march 18th, Red & white, SR+... still no VIN. Price has changed since to include AP and lower paint price, that's ok for me. With the new EV rebate I'm now considering adding FSD too...

I think the reason Tesla didn't do this before is if they did, noone would have brought a single SR+ in canada between the budget announcement and today

Ordered on march 18th my SR+ red & white, glad i did not get delivery earlier because now i can add FSD with the federal paying 2/3rd of it but I hope it arrives quickly now because that 100m$ is gonna be spent quickly !

Model 3 SR-, 44999$, 100km range, no AP, no supercharger access All software limited, no real extra cost on tesla's part. Noone would pay 45k for that so problem solved.

Agreed, only two things matters 1- having _a_ version of the car that is under 45k before options and fees (SR- barebone) 2- having the version of the car that you want under 55k before options and fees (SR+ with AP, FSD, red, white interior, 19" wheels etc) We're missing #1

After reading the details of the plan, I Tweeted @Elon yesterday and sent an email to my sales contact at Mtl store. It's SUPER easy for Tesla to become eligible. Simply offer the SR-, software limited to 100km of autonomy @ 44999$. They don't even have to actually have anyone buy that, just...

The solution is quite simple Offer the Canadian-only SR-, with no supercharging access, battery range limited to 200km (or whatever is the minimum to have the full 5k$ rebate), and w/e else they can disable with software, and then offer the unlocking of SR+ as an option.

4 years to get to max production rate... seems slow for Tesla... unless its 5k for model 3 in 2 years and then 5k for model Y 2 years later ? Either way, doesn't fit Elon's MO to give realistic time tables...

or waiting for the SR... That long range battery, with the exchange rate and the taxes is almost 14k. I can't really justify paying that much for the 150km range more, which I would probably not "use" more than twice a year. I know of two other people who reserved day one who are in the same boat.
