Timeline for receiving Tesla insurance renewal dec page?

I have Tesla insurance and am wondering when I will receive a renewal dec page? My current 6-month policy expires in the first week of September according to the Tesla app, so I'm wondering when I'll get either (1) a renewal notice, or (2) an updated dec page showing I'm covered for another...

Positive experience with Tesla, Carvana, and Tesla/Wells Fargo Financing Logistics (DFW, Texas)

Coincidentally, Carvana was the highest offer I got. To the best of my memory, other places I considered: Tesla's trade-in offer which was something like $15,000, Driveway was also around $15,000, AutoNation was the 2nd highest at $20,000, and Vroom (I think, possibly mixing this up with...

Model 3 key fob: are there any known issues?

Curious to see if there are any known issues with a Model 3 key fob. Mine seems to intermittently not work due to (seemingly) a bad connection with the battery. But as far as I can tell, all the metal contacts with the battery are intact and there should be no reason the key fob shouldn't work...

    Turn Signal intermittently doesn't work

Yes, I have the same issue. I've just chalked it up to the fact that I have to re-train my brain to get used to holding the turn signal about a 1/2 second longer than normal to make sure the car registers the fact that I'm trying to signal.

Positive experience with Tesla, Carvana, and Tesla/Wells Fargo Financing Logistics (DFW, Texas)

Since there can never be too much positive news, I thought I'd write about my experience of buying a new M3P, selling my old MS to Carvana, and the logistics and timeline of the Tesla/Wells Fargo car loan. If anything, perhaps this will simply serve as an updated data point on what folks...

Texas estimated delivery date (EDD) & proof of insurance

Updating in case anyone stumbles across this thread in the future: the answer is to wait until you select a delivery date before uploading insurance. That's what I did (I just went through Tesla insurance since they were significantly cheaper than other insurance quotes I was getting) and it...

Texas estimated delivery date (EDD) & proof of insurance

Maybe a silly question, but do I need to provide proof of insurance in order to select a delivery date? I just want to make sure I'm not inadvertently delaying my vehicle. I'm a current Model S 70D owner and I've decided to switch it out for a brand new Model 3 Performance. I have an EDD and a...

Leave the car from passenger door, car remains open

My driver side door/window was broken at one point and I had to resort to entering and exiting the car using the passenger side door. If I recall correctly, just shut down the car from the main center screen (full power down/turn off car or something to that effect), close the passenger door...

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

Feature request: adjust scheduled charge time from mobile app. Would really be nice to be able to change what time the car is scheduled to charge from the mobile app, instead of having to physically go to the car itself.

    Legitimate survey

I can confirm Research Design Specialists IS legitimate - although I've never received an email solicitation. Only ever received via snail mail USPS. I used to get these on an annual basis when I had my Mazda from 2010-2014. You show up to their office, fill out surveys/answer questions about...

    Insurance for overnight test drive

What about something like The General? You can buy their insurance online and have it effective within 24 hours IIRC...then just cancel once you're done with your test drive. Seems like a really easy process. Might be worth looking into. It might not be cheap as I believe their fine print does...

Cracked Windshield... no replacement... no communication... WTF

Sorry to hear of your experience with Liberty Mutual. As with every company, some have good experiences, others, not so much. I'm with Allied, and my experience was great. They initially referred me to Safelite as their 3rd party vendor who conducts windshield replacements. I said no, I don't...

    AP1 Side Collision Avoidance Gone?

Hm, interesting observation. Side collision warning used to have an audible warning for me whenever a car got too close to me say, in my blind spot. It would also steer the car slightly to the rightmost (or leftmost) edge of my lane (as long as it was clear) to help avoid any potential side...

    AP1 Side Collision Avoidance Gone?

I did a search and didn't see any recent threads on AP1 side collision avoidance, so here goes... For AP1 cars, is side collision avoidance gone for good or just temporarily? (I did find a thread referencing Tesla temporarily removing it for data collection purposes in preparation for its AP2...

    Windshield replacement

I'm at about the same. ~1800/yr, though I only have the 1 car. Clean driving record, no tickets, only accident was a relatively minor one where I was rear-ended on the freeway at about 15 mph...that was probably 6 years ago and the other guy was found 100% at-fault. Oh and yes, the 1 claim for...

    Windshield replacement

Allied insurance here in Southern California. They're a subsidiary of Nationwide. My insurance agent never told me about it. Long story short, I had a minor incident where I found out I didn't have coverage I thought I did. Afterwards, I asked them if I was covered in certain other scenarios...

    Windshield replacement

Something that might also be worth looking into is adding glass coverage to your insurance, so that if you need to file a claim to replace only your windshield, you're not paying your full deductible, though this may vary based on your insurance company. For the company I'm insured through...

    Musty "Locker Room" Odor

I've had this musty locker room odor in every car I've had...from my 2010 Mazda which I had for ~5 years...to a brand new 2015 Lexus (that I had for only a few months)...and then I noticed the smell coming from my 2015 Tesla (also purchased brand new) after just 2 weeks. The solution for me...

Anyone charge at UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center?

Thanks. Good to know that driving back home from Lake Arrowhead back to Orange County will add quite a few miles from the regen braking down the mountain. My original plan was to charge to 90% before leaving Lake Arrowhead, so I'll have to rethink this, thank you for the input! = )

Anyone charge at UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center?

Thanks! I had seen that, and the rep I spoke with said that all charging was complimentary, so I really wasn't sure who or what to believe. Was hoping someone who had been there could chime in. I do appreciate it though! =)

Anyone charge at UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center?

This will be my first time charging at a non-Tesla charger and wanted to see what (if anything) I'd need to bring to charge here. I called and spoke with someone who confirmed they do have EV charging, but they weren't sure what plugs they used. They said they have Tesla chargers, but I don't...

New to the family! NE FL - Tips?

In response to your Q#2: I say, don't care about what other people think. I was 27 when I purchased my MS 70D new, so I am far from the typical "average" Tesla owner as well. I'm have a pretty average job too. Pays well in my opinion, sure, but it's not like I'm Mark Zuckerberg or someone with...

Replace Windshield - anyone have success negotiating with insurance?

Replace Windshield - anyone have success negotiating with insurance?

@gopassgas - not sure what the deal is with my insurance. I have full glass coverage with $0 deductible, so maybe they feel like they need to cut their out-of-pocket costs since they're not collecting any deductible from me. They said they would only pay for reasonable and customary costs...some...

Replace Windshield - anyone have success negotiating with insurance?

Came out to my car this evening to a pretty wide crack on my front windshield. Called my insurance (Allied/Nationwide) and they said they will let me take it wherever I want, but will only cover ~$800. I've read that these Model S windshields can run as high as $1400 or so to replace. I have...

    Firmware 8.0

Anyone know if this is the same message for non-P models? According to the mobile app, my 70D is on 17.6.15 as well. I had the car in for service last week for the 2nd annual/25k mile checkup. I don't recall what firmware version I was on before I brought it in for service, but the work order...

Another solid experience with Tesla Service, and WOW the P100DL is scary

I'm continuously blown away by the level of service I've received from Tesla, so I'll post this as another two thumbs up experience. Mobile app update is coming but I am not impressed with the rumored features

I noticed this as well when testing out the app for the first time last night. However, I did notice that the car will only lock from the mobile app now, if all of the doors are closed. Compared to the previous version of the app, it's an extra step to take to confirm all the doors are closed...

    Quick Q on Geico

Those insured with Geico: did the online system recognize your 16-digit VIN? I recently switched after finding out my current insurance company (Allied) does NOT offer glass coverage standard and it would have been an additional $200/yr to add it. Geico came out to $300 cheaper per year with...

Wawanesa policy holders, what do you do for umbrella insurance?

    Insurance On Model S?

My understanding of it is that there's more to the process of setting a premium than just the advertised discounts, so for that, I feel like it's not a very transparent process (or at least, can be a frustrating process for young Tesla drivers trying to find a reasonable premium). For instance...

    Insurance On Model S?

For the young Tesla drivers out there, I would recommend starting with a quote from Allied. Every other insurance company out there seems to charge an arm and a leg if you're a young Tesla driver, regardless of how clean your driving record is. Allied seems to put less weight on age, and more so...

First post, test drive Tuesday, I have questions

Since no one's touched on the OP's question of insurance, I'll share my experience. I would recommend shopping rates on an annual basis and try several different companies. There are so many factors that go into determining risk and premium, that there's really no one size fits all solution for...

    Tesla 8.0 Autopilot experience Poll

Agreed that autosteer is somewhat less capable of staying centered in the lane. Tesla made up for it by allowing the car the track lanes below 18mph now. The majority of my commute on the 405 freeway here in SoCal is in stop and go traffic, so it's a tremendous help to me for the car to be...

    AP in 8.0

I received the 8.0 update this morning and tested it for a few miles. First impressions seem to be consistent with everyone else, and was pleasantly surprised: Stop and go traffic is much smoother and more human-like. When the car in front slowed, so did my car, and significantly more smoothly...

    Firmware 8.0

I experienced the exact same thing, which I am very happy with! My commute takes me down the 405 here in SoCal. Not unusual to be in stop and go traffic at <18mph. On firmware 7.1, the car would lose lanes and while it would still be tracking the car in front, would fairly frequently drift...

    Firmware 8.0

One thing I have noticed with the new firmware 8.0 is that my car now seems to be more freaked out in my garage. Proximity sensors go a bit more crazy than they used to. I have a 2-car tandem garage, so it's a tight fit. Firmware 7.1 used to just give me somewhat steady beeps telling me I'm...

Sidewall damage, rubber chunk hanging off, thoughts?

Thank you all for the replies! I emailed a picture of it to my service advisor, and he stated the tire was fine. I'll probably ask again when I bring it in for the anti corrosion coating I need to get done (orange rust-colored spots coming out the front of my car).

Excellent Service from Costa Mesa, CA, service center (12,500 mile service)

I wanted to share my positive experience with the Costa Mesa, CA service center. I took my car in for its first annual/12,500 mile recommended service, and since it has been some time since I've had such a smooth experience when getting a check-up on my car, I felt obligated to share. I...

    Tesla moments

This reminds me of a few months ago...I went to a new barber for a haircut and he wanted to give me a student discount because he thought I was still in high school. I was 28 :D I picked up my 70D at 27. Fortunately, not many people ask how I could afford it at such a young age. I don't like...

Sidewall damage, rubber chunk hanging off, thoughts?

No wires visible, looks like more rubber underneath when I lift up the existing loose piece. I have the 19" wheels, Michelin Primacy MXM4 245/45R19 tires. Is that considered a "low profile" tire? A quick google search tells me yes. My original hesitation with replacing the tire would be that...

Sidewall damage, rubber chunk hanging off, thoughts?

I'm due to visit the service center soon anyway for the anti-rust coating for the orange stuff that comes out the front of my car whenever I wash it, but wanted to get a poll on what people think before I go in for my own peace of mind on this separate issue - see attached picture showing tire...

Should I be waiting for my Final Cost Sheet before applying through Alliant?

I didn't apply through Alliant, but I did apply for financing through Schools First Federal CU about a month before the scheduled delivery date. I wanted to make sure I would be approved, so that on the day of delivery, the only thing I had to give my lender was the final cost sheet/purchase...
