    Tesla Owners in Alberta

CarFax says private sale $38,000 to $42,000. AutoTrader wholesale says $26,000 - $30,000. Not including the FSD option. FSD is still showing $16,000 for me in the Tesla App. "Enchanted Autopilot"! Sometimes it does feel like that. 🤣 You can't even get a used 2019 Prius for $24,000. It is a...

Value of 2018 Model 3 - Best way to deal with upgrade to model Y

Say what you like about "stealerships", but private sales can be very reasonable. I've bought and sold a lot of vehicles over the years. Always prefer private sales. I'm sure he will get much more than $25 if sold privately.

You all calling my girl ugly?! 🤣 lol

Value of 2018 Model 3 - Best way to deal with upgrade to model Y

If you look on Auto Trader the least expensive private sale price is $31,000 for that milage.

Value of 2018 Model 3 - Best way to deal with upgrade to model Y

Nice car. Silver is very rare. I had that colour on order before they removed it as an option. Always sell privately.

    Big decision....

My first Tesla was a 2015 S. Still my favourite. I might go back to the S one day just because of the great memories of my first EV. I think you might want to wait a bit if you really want a Y. Rumour about the refresh will probably mean lots of discounted upgrades up for sale soon. My Y has...

    All Weather Mats

Not happy with my first experience with Tuxmat this year. I've also always used Weathertech before but have since found MAXpiders easier to clean. Purchased Tuxmat for our Outlander as MAXpiders were not available for it. Tuxmat require side clips to keep them from bending in. The accelerator...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

My 2021 Y has not had any issues with the heat pump. I've driven in -30ºC weather a few times.

MICHELIN CROSSCLIMATE 2 Real life experience

I've run these for the last two winters on my Y. No complaints on performance. I do however like to clean my tires before installing them to check for nails or damage. In Calgary the city uses gravel instead of sand or salt. These tires collect more rocks than any I have had in the past. Here is...

    Fire Damage

Not mine, but neighbour had a garage fire a few days ago. Car looks like it got very hot but didn't catch fire. Nice to know the "Cut Here" label for the fire department does not melt.

New massive CCS1 charging station in Hope BC - It's free..for now!

Not from what I have seen. When I was using one it dropped to 16 kW. If you look on Plugshare you will see folks getting anywhere from 7.5 to 17 kW when the battery is depleted.

My claim with the City of Toronto - some thoughts

Great video. Someone like that needs to be taken to court. Although I suspect he wouldn't even show. Hope you are successful.

    Otriforwd FullShade install help

I just installed the shade on my Model Y. The trickiest part is aligning the small screws to the forward clips. They are providing a jig to assist in marking the locations which helps get you in the approximate location. But I still had trouble aligning them. I discovered that if you do the...

Just drive it and enjoy it...

I try and balance my driving between my other cars. Getting into the Tesla after a few days I often find myself saying "Wow. This is nice!" If I use it as my daily driver I tend to take it for granted.

    CCS Retrofit Availability (2023)

The Ranger had to reload the software after the ECU install. But I guess I could try to do it again. The car knows it is CCS enabled.

    CCS Retrofit Availability (2023)

My charging system ECU failed last week. Ranger replaced it with a new CCS capable one. But the Tesla online store will not let me order the CCS adaptor because it doesn't now my car is CCS capable yet. Anyone recommend an after market CCS adaptor I could buy?

    Leviton EVSE red fault light

I have been using a shopping mall Leviton EVSE for over a year without issue. All three of their units now give me a red fault light and the car says "Charging equipment reports error". Tesla replaced my J1772 to see if that would help but it didn't. Tesla service now says my car is fine the...

The App says "Shift to P, press the button a second time, or start the charging to disable the preconditioning." So it looks like you can't run it while parked.

Optimizing charge times to reduce demand on the grid - podcast

In Alberta we get to sell our solar back to the grid for HALF price.... So I try and use it all up myself.

Optimizing charge times to reduce demand on the grid - podcast

I remember reading an article that said Hydro Quebec indicated that the average EV would use the same amount as an electric hot water tank. My clothes drier uses closer to 4-5 kWh per load on the normal setting. Wish I could convince my wife to use a heat pump model!

BC and Alberta get new CCS1 charging network via Chevron - Tip: it's currently free!

I've been using these units on my current Calgary-Vancouver-Calgary road trip with Chademo. All but one unit tripped off after a few minutes. I have to return the plug and wait for the unit to detect that I'm not charging any more. I can then plug in and complete my charge without any problems...

    Road trips below -20C

Yes. Not as much information as Scan My Tesla but enough to get by. Here is a screen shot of us going towards a Chademo unit. I had turned on battery precondition about 37 minutes away and it was almost warm enough for fast charging. I didn't see the battery warming message when we started...

I have the S3XY buttons which lets me turn on the preconditioning and monitor the battery temperature. Helps when you want to use non Tesla chargers.

    Road trips below -20C

We drove Calgary to Vancouver this week. The first half was -20ºC. I do have the heat pump. It worked fine. But I do notice that it seems the trip planner does not account properly for how much power is needed to preheat the battery to +55ºC. After selecting a SuperCharger in the Nav, the...

I just want to use windshield washer fluid with Autopilot

I just want to use windshield washer fluid with Autopilot

I guess RoboTaxi passengers will have to carry their own glass cleaner to wash the cameras any time they get dirty. Sure hope they are working on a solution for this. Maybe tear offs? :)

Anyone same as me hesitate to buy a new Tesla because of FSD?

More than a 3 without FSD is what I was getting at.
  40. Lon12

Anyone same as me hesitate to buy a new Tesla because of FSD?

I wish Tesla would let us transfer the FSD to the new vehicle. In any case your 3 with FSD should be worth more to a buyer.

Technical question about pre-conditioning and battery temperature

I just watched my car pre-condition the battery this morning in my garage. Garage was -7ºC. Battery was +1ºC. Wall 240v charger is limited to 24 amps. It used both stators to heat the battery up to 11ºC before it would start charging. It took 30 minutes before charging started. The orange lines...

Heavy Snow and Icy driving Tip

Vancouver gets a rare snow fall.... hard not to find it slightly humorous from the rest of Canada's winter wonderland perspective. We deal with those issues on a much more regular basis. Mitsubishi PHEV Chademo can only take 16 kW max charge rate. You guys have nothing to complain about. :)
