    Supercharger - Lee, MA

This is excellent news! Lee is always crowded in the summer, so I've been hoping they'd upgrade it. Fingers crossed that they'll put in more stalls as well. I wonder if a V4 upgrade is in the works for all the V2 sites?

Possible supercharger location? - North Andover, MA

Seems like an odd location if it is an SC site. It’s far off the highway, and has only commercial properties around it. Guess we’ll see!

Turo for Teslas, Experience, Trust, Results, Cost

I’ve rented Teslas on Turo 6 times (though 4 of those were from the same guy’s Model 3 from the Savannah airport). One of those was a beautiful 2022 white Model S LR - what a great way to cruise through LA! I don’t even consider normal car rentals anymore. - Hosts trustworthy? Absolutely...

Planning a Road Trip. New to SuperCharging

Just curious - are you driving ”to” Boston or “through” it? If the latter, then I wouldn’t recommend either of those superchargers - especially not the Cambridge one, as it’s in a parking garage that’s not particularly near anything, and it’s an “urban” supercharger, which means it’ll be...

Tesla Showroom and Service Center - Woburn, MA

According to the article linked above, Tesla wants the empty lot which was an old Buick dealership back in the day. It also talks about the access problem, since that part of Washington St is controlled by MassDOT. Also, it sounds like no one's quite sure who owns the street connecting to that...

Funny - this is literally right next door to the original proposed Woburn supercharger location: Supercharger - Woburn, MA

    Auto fold mirrors outside garage

The only setting is "auto-fold at a location" - no other adjustments. You can also link the behavior to HomeLink, if you have that. Also note that the mirrors will always unfold when you reach 30 MPH, no matter whether they were auto or manually folded.

    Auto fold mirrors outside garage

You have to be far enough away for the car to know that you're not at home anymore. It's about 40-50 feet for me.

Is my belt buckle backwards ??

Yep, I've had that happen (not sure how). Easy to fix by folding over the belt & slipping it through. Here's a nice photo explanation: Backwards Buckle Fix

    iPhone dock kit

They were no longer offering it when I got my 2018 MS. I bought one from helloskyline dot com. I see that they still offer it for $100.

    Supercharger - Lowell, MA

I’m not exactly sure why Tesla is bothering adding any more Magic Dock superchargers now that NACS support is inevitable for all manufacturers. The remaining holdouts have to come around, as they’ll be stuck with a static and inadequate CCS network otherwise. That means the Magic Dock SCs will...

    Supercharger - Lowell, MA

All posts and cabinets appear to be installed. Transformer pad is poured.

Passenger mirror unfolds in garage randomly

Yep, it's been a problem for a while. I keep hoping that some OTA update will fix it, but it never does. For me it works best if I turn off "unlock at home". Then it stops randomly unfolding when I'm not in the car, and only randomly unfolds when I get in the car to drive. I hate to be one...

    New S, Old Chargers

I had a gen 1 HPWC. When I upgraded my model S in 2018 the charger became unreliable (flashing red LED about 10% of the time), which I believe was the compatibility issue that others have mentioned. I ended up replacing it with a new one (Gen 3) and all is well. My suggestion to you would be...

    Supercharger - Auburn MA

Well, I wouldn't have guessed that Auburn would become the first 16 stall SC in Massachusetts, but I suppose it had to be somewhere. Never stopped there myself. Hopefully this'll lead to other V3 upgrades - I've got my fingers crossed for Lee. As to that funny extra stall - it looks like...

Best EV charging solution for Condo Association

Might want to check out these guys - they claim to have the lowest cost solution for providing EV charging for everyone. They explain why they think this is better than having a few shared chargers. Orange Outlet - Scalable EV Charging

    Weird charge port issue

I had a similar problem with my Model S charge port - it started clicking like that as it repeatedly tried to pull down the locking tab. I was unable to insert the charging cable unless I pulled the manual release. Repair solution: new charging port ($600 parts & labor).

Which Supercharger sites need to expand to relieve congestion?

I would think that the southern CT main routes (95 and the Merritt) will get more sites rather than expanded sites, as there are plenty of exits there to use - look at what Tesla's done in NJ or around Hartford as an example. For northern CT (84) and western MA (pike) that's less of an option...

Which Supercharger sites need to expand to relieve congestion?

I've noticed that some supercharger sites have been getting upgraded with additional stalls, which lead me to wonder about New England sites that could use some relief. My vote - Lee, MA. Those 8 V2 stalls stay pretty busy during summer weekends, as everyone from the Berkshires and points west...

    Supercharger - Danvers, MA

Nice V4 find! I suspect they went with tall/narrow and outside cable coil to get a longer cable to better support non-Tesla CCS charging (easier to get to both sides). Notice that the cable is in the opposite direction from V3? Also, it's hard to tell, but it looks like the handle is...

400 kWh of free Supercharging credits discontinued?

Wow - Tesla really knows how to treat their customers, don’t they? I’ve had the exact same experience with my 2018 Model S. They told me it’s supposed to renew every year, and it never has without some contact, which is increasingly difficult to do (even the chat option is gone now). I’ll try...

Model S charge port failure work-around

Good news! I was able to get an emergency service slot (odd that you have to make a regular service appointment before you can message anyone), and my charge port was replaced today. For anyone interested: the charge port part (Model S Gen 2) costs $385, with $175 for labor.

Model S charge port failure work-around

The charge port in my 2018 Model S just failed. The door opens properly, but then it just makes a grinding sound and the LED ring never lights up. Upon inspection I can see that the locking pin isn't pulling down, so the grinding sound must be a failure of the mechanism responsible for that...

Mirrors unfold "randomly" in my garage

Interesting observation. My Wifi signal is fine in the garage (note - you're may have trouble getting FW updates without Wifi), so I don't think it's that for me. Mine is still random. I notice that if I get back in the car relatively quickly (i.e., it doesn't have time to go to sleep) then...

Mirrors unfold "randomly" in my garage

No solution here. I noticed that my mirrors have stayed folded since I got the latest update a few days ago, but that could be random. I need more time to see if it persists (I’m not holding my breath). The map suggestion sounds pretty unlikely to me. I think they were desperate to give you...

    Tesla Supercharger network

I think this is what you're looking for. It's for a Model S Plaid, but that should match your late-model X I would think. According to this the 40-70% should be about 14 minutes. That assumes the battery temperature is optimum, which can take 30 minutes or more of preconditioning. Your car...

Do supercharger users not care about price?

I get 95% of my electrons at home, so when I’m picking a SC I look for the one that will give me the shortest stop (arrive with low state-of-charge), without any regard for price. In fact, I was somewhat happy to see Tesla raise SC prices somewhat (unpopular, I know). Why? Because it reduces...

    Supercharger - Worcester, MA

Didn't see this one coming (that's pronounced Wooster, for the out-of-towners). Permit for a new Neon Marketplace at 75 Quinsigamond Ave in Worcester includes an 8-stall supercharger. It's right near the highway on the map, but it's actually in the city so it isn't super easy on/off, but...

I've always used Hogan Tire in Woburn (Washington St), and I've been happy with them.

Mirrors unfold "randomly" in my garage

You’ve got the gremlin. As far as I know there’s been no attempt to fix this behavior. Mine has acted that way for a long time through many software updates.

Poll - how many charge at home?

You should check! I don't have any knowledge about trailer parks, but I know RV parks use a 240V plug to connect, and I would guess they'd have something similar. You can find a bunch of threads on here about RV connections. The charging cable that comes with the car can plug into those with...

Poll - how many charge at home?

20-25k/year is a lot to go without 240V charging - at least it would be for me. I do about 20K/year (about 70/day during the work week), and 110 at home wouldn't be enough, especially in the winter (I see you're in roughly the same temperature zone as I am). Do you have reasonable access to...
  35. M

Mirrors unfold "randomly" in my garage

joe.smith You're absolutely right - it's a SW issue, and I suspect it's random based on how the car wakes up. For me, turning off 'don't lock at home' prevented them from unfolding on their own, but they still sometimes unfold when I start the car (and sometimes fold back up again...

    Real Driving Range

I do most of my driving in MA / upstate NY. The supercharger coverage is excellent, and getting better every year. You should never have to worry about running out. That said, if you're considering a 3 or Y you'll really want to get the long-range, assuming you'll be driving in the winter...

    Real Driving Range

Speed matters, but temperature (and foul weather) matters even more. Here's some data I accumulated on my Model S 100D. The horizontal axis is temperature, and the vertical axis is "how many more range miles it took than the actual distance", i.e. 0% means range miles equaled actual trip...

Supercharger - Charlton, MA (I-90 westbound service plaza)

I agree - this lot fills predictably from the food court out to the edges. Of course, they’re going to have to move the Farmers’ Market, which traditionally takes those spots (probably for the same reason). You can see the tents on the Google Map satellite view.

    Supercharger - Littleton, MA

It's a V3. You can tell by the cabinets (very square with no 'shroud').

Yep - fences down, transformer & meter in place. I think this one could be open by next week!

Looks like that box should add the text "... and don't support the bottom by one brick in the corner".
  42. M

    Supercharger - Burlington, MA

I also think Lexington's going to be at the Rt 128 rest stop. Notice that for other towns (Woburn, Burlington) they put the pin directly under the town name (even though we know where those are), whereas in Lexington the pin's no where near the town and right near the rest stop. Other evidence...

    Supercharger - Littleton, MA

Nice to see a planning board that can approve these things quickly and efficiently. Compare to the nonsense in Woburn... Good site, as noted above. Looks like it's raining superchargers in Boston Metrowest - here, Burlington, Woburn. One more up near 495/93 (Salem NH?) and we'll never be...

Mirrors unfold "randomly" in my garage

I've also had this problem for a while (Model S). I've got the mirrors set to auto-fold, which it does. Then, in the morning, they're unfolded. I I suspect the car wakes up at some point, says 'Where am I?', the GPS hasn't had its coffee yet so gives some random location, so the car says 'Oh...

Supercharger - Hilton Head Island, SC

Looking pretty done. Can't confirm whether they're operational yet, though. Impressive job on the landscaping - you can't even tell that they're newly installed!
  46. M

    Supercharger - Woburn, MA

Yes - this is much better for highway access. There's a dedicated flyover to/from 93, so it's about as close as it can be. Amenities are not great - Target + small strip mall (Starbucks, Firehouse subs, Chipotle across the street), but all in all a better location than the original.

    New LR OR Wait...

Here’s the thing - it’s a no-lose situation. Either way you’re going to get an awesome car. The question to ask yourself: would you be very disappointed if they did a refresh and you missed out? If so, then wait and see. As others have noted, however, there have been refresh rumors for...

    New LR OR Wait...

Personally, I’d just buy it now - it’s a hell of a car as it is. My first one had a 260 mile range (max at the time), and my present one is 320 miles, so I can’t imagine needing more than the 400 miles you get now. Even with winter weather that’s a lot of driving between stops! Plus, it’s a...

    Supercharger - Oneonta, NY

Yeah, it's absolutely a V3. The thinner cable's a give-away. I also got 150 kW in my 2018 Model S, which I've never managed from a V2! Note that there's a Panera and Five Guys just up the hill past the furniture place. Note, however, that the restrooms in both are closed for the immediate...
