Problems with BayArea FasTrak on Model Y

Tesla's have a metal oxide windshield and prevents the transponder from being picked up. See the specific note and vehicle list from the FastTrak site here for more details: https://www.bayareafastrak.org/en/support/fastrak-basics-faq2.shtml...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

My 2013 P85 received the 2019.24.1.5 update on 12/Jul. I received the 2019.28.2.5 update yesterday and just installed it now. I don’t monitor my 100% range very closely since my daily round-trip commute is ~50 miles and I only charge to 70%. I also rarely supercharge but the last time I did...

    Transfer of ownership

I had to look up the email thread when I went through the process, but i received immediate and timely response. apparently there is a separate 'ownership transfer' team that has to process the transfer, but overall it took less than 2 weeks to transfer the ownership. The only delay on my end...

NEMA 14-50 plug or wall charger?

If your panel can support it, why not install both? Best of both worlds and also futureproof for the next EV.
  11. Joelc

Would it be dumb to NOT install a charger at my house? (Dallas)

Also need to consider how much your time is worth because you now have to allocate time out of your day to charge. As others have said, at least consider plugging into 120v at home so you can charge.

TPMS "Tire Pressure Too High" Warningq

AFAIK changing the tires shouldn't require replacing the TPMS sensors. Did they say why they changed them? Ask them to put the original sensors back.

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

It's been mentioned previously, but the double HOV lanes start in Palo Alto 6.5 miles north of the 85 HOV split and it's not unusual for non HOV traffic speed to be at a slow crawl or complete stop, especially around that 85 HOV split. So HOV drivers tend to stay in the #1 lane as long as...

Does your Active Suspension Adjust Periodically?

FWIW, my wife’s GL350 does this too. I think it’s a feature of most vehicles with air/self-leveling suspension. And yes, I’ve noticed it happen on my S as well after coming to a stop. Even noticed it (heard the usual brief air pumping) after going slowly over some speed bumps in a parking lot

Waze - new HOV routing feature

Waze gains support for HOV lanes, motorcycles and voice activation Personally I find this new feature especially useful when I visit SoCal because I am not familiar with the HOV lanes there. Sometimes I prematurely exit the HOV lane thinking I'll miss my exit only to find out later that there...

    Homelink transmission strength

Just adding a different datapoint, Homelink on my 2013 has been rock-solid. Have never had an issue with Homelink kicking in when approaching my driveway from the street, guessing at least a good 75ft away. I have a Liftmaster garage opener FWIW.

    Slacker Radio Premium experience

If you're trying to log in with your Tesla provided Slacker account on the center display, you can't because it's the default account associated with your car (eg, it's always logged in). The Slacker login screen is for personal/non-Tesla Slacker accounts.

    TPMS Upgrade

Short answer, yes. It's more than just replacing the individual sensors. There is a corresponding receiver that also needs to be replaced in addition to the 4 TPMS sensors. And a possibly a vehicle firmware update. See this thread: TPMS question

    Charging at Tesla Service Center

Yes. It is possible. Just ask. While I was waiting for service at the Burlingame Service Center, I saw another Model S owner walk in, asked someone at the desk if he could use one of the HPWC in front of the store. "Sure, No problem. "

    Firmware 8.1 - Classics

Updated to 17.24.28 on 6/23 via wifi at home. Only noticeable difference is that I am seeing is "Systems are powering up, press brake when this message clears" more frequently than before the upgrade and that it's taking longer for the message to clear even after pressing the brake.

Supercharger - San Mateo, CA - Park Place (LIVE, 8 V2 stalls)

There is a fitness gym right next door to that SC location. And too often I've seen people park their Teslas at the SC then walk straight to their morning workout. Always wondered if they moved their cars after it finished charging or only moved after they finished working out at the gym.

    TPMS question

Interesting. When I had 2 failed sensors replaced, they had to replace all 4 sensors + receiver to the newer TPMS system. See Firmware 8.0 - For Classic Model S

Does using the accelerator to hill-hold harm the motor?

It's a feature not available on every Model S. My 'classic' non-AP Model S P85 for example doesn't have it. I don't know when permanent hill-hold became standard.

Things I learned about Slacker Streaming

It doesn't work because the Tesla account is already logged in by default. The 'sign-in' option is for personal/non-Tesla accounts only.

    Firmware 8.0 - For Classic Model S

Firmware + TPMS sensors + TPMS ECU receiver (and programming to 'learn' the new sensors). That's pretty much it in the service invoice. "Corrections: Retrofit Continental TPMS module and harness." I only took my car in because I was getting TPMS sensor failures almost daily. I thought they...

Tire pressure monitoring system needs service

Exact same situation for me. Was pleasantly surprised when I got the call from my SC tech advisor that they were upgrading me to the new style sensors.
