It's funny but you're wrong... pedo in spanish is FART. Literally a different type of gas LOL!

Model 3 Door Handles - Here is how they actually work

They look different but have the same mechanism... you have to push the rear side of the handle (drivers side) to open it. The L shaped looks more intuitive.

    2016 Model S Refresh Mega-thread

There is no new diffuser... there is NO diffuser at all!

No hatch-back on model 3 - Anyone else disappointed.

You didn't saw any car with people in the back seats... How many cars with huge objects in the back did you saw? Audi A4, BMW 3series, MB C-class, the Model 3 real competitors are sedans and is OK. Yes, they have a wagon version but 90% of buyers choose the sedan version.

No dash screen -- only 15" touchscreen?

Maybe the car is so cool that you never feel heat inside the car!

Traditional rearview mirrors... at least we can forget the side cameras

    Barebone $35,000 Features

You said ICE car cost = EV cost - battery. So a full 4 cilinder turbo engine with an automatic transmission cost the same than a simple electric motor (in your world) And remember the money Tesla saves with direct sales.
  8. C

    Barebone $35,000 Features

So you think that an ICE engine and transmisión cost is 0... Ok

Tesla Motors Montreal won't be streaming model 3 launch.

... I can't imagine to watch the unveiling of the latest Ford, BMW, Mercedes, etc. car at any of its dealers.

    Barebone $35,000 Features

Sometimes I think there are people who will buy a Model 3 with no doors and optional steering wheel (you can use your old car steering wheel and save money!).
  11. C

    Barebone $35,000 Features

You are missing two key differences... 1 - The price of the drivetrain. A 2.0 4 cilinder petrol engine and the 8 gear automatic transmission cost a lot of money, is much more expensive than a simple electric motor. 2 - The dealer piece of cake... around 10% of the sale value. Tesla sells...

March Model 3 Unveil just drawings? No actual car? Disappointed.

I don't know why everybody says Model 3 will have no 17" LCD when this could be one of the cheapest parts of the car... please, we are in 2016, LCD touchscreens ARE REALLY CHEAP. I will not be surprised if it cost less than 100$. Take this feature that is almost Tesla DNA out from Model 3 has no...

March Model 3 Unveil just drawings? No actual car? Disappointed.

Tesla in 2012, with much less resources than today and a handfull of cars produced (only 400 roadsters) managed to show a functional prototype of Model X and you say that today, 4 years and 100.000 build cars later they will only unveil some drawings... seriously? Do you really think than Tesla...

    Superchargers for Model 3

Sorry, you are right (I thought it already was a law in the rest of Europe). Despite this, the spanish government has created a two year exemption with allows Tesla to install new superchargers without the CCS combo until late 2017.
  18. C

    Superchargers for Model 3

CCS combo chargers are mandatory in every new fast charge station in Europe, it's a new law in all member countries. I guess they will put one CCS charger in every SC and you will have to pay to charge your BMW, audi...

Poll: Short tall or long low Model 3?

BMW 3-series is the target, so the car might look like a 4-5 door sedan. I think 4-series GT is a good starting point.

    Model X Name

Yes, but maybe you should ask Disney for copyright terms!

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

If the car only have one big FWD on each side for bow rows Tesla must include an emergency door "ejection" system like Mercedes did on the SLS AMG, because if an accident ends with the car upside down you should be able to open the door (this is not a problem in Model X as the car have...

SEDAN SEDAN SEDAN SEDAN... Not hatchback.
  27. C

    Lo-Drag: Cd < 0.2

I mean if a traditional ICE car get 0.24... only removing almost all the cooling openings you should have even less Cx. Maybe 0.23... maybe lower. Of course 0.20 is an extreme result (if possible)
  28. C

    Lo-Drag: Cd < 0.2

I've just read that the new Hiunday Ioniq has 0,24 Cx... that's the same than Model S. Maybe it's not so crazy to achieve a 0,20 withhout being a weirdmobile and using wheel covers... (considering less cooling needs for the full EV and others improvements)

Tesla Says Model 3 Will Be On Sale 2017 Alongside Chevy Bolt

Totally agree. Taking Mercedes as an example, they launch the new E-Class now but they will start with the "state" version late this year. And we are talking about MB, one of the biggest in the car industry (and a company with ¿30? current different models).
  30. C

Tesla Says Model 3 Will Be On Sale 2017 Alongside Chevy Bolt

The Chevy Bolt problem is that it looks like a cheap econobox car... but it costs 37500$. Maybe GM did it on purpose... ¿It's so difficult to build a "normal" sedan EV?
  31. C

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

This is not a problem. Nobody will buy a car like this so hitting a pothole is impossible!
  32. C

Tesla Says Model 3 Will Be On Sale 2017 Alongside Chevy Bolt

I agree... the cost of the 17" screen is ridiculous... you can buy a 17" HD capacitive display for less than 200$. This is not where Tesla have to save money for M3. Using a 12" instead of 17" screen to save 50$ in a more than 35000$ car... You save money in the seats (no leather, no electric...
  33. C

How much of a deposit do you think will be required?

I would not pay more than 2500€ to reserve a 40,000€ car... two years in advance.
  34. C

Chevy Bolt is Ugly, Model 3 Still Poised to outsell if Attractively Designed

Looks like a C-Max... but costs twice! You can buy a C-Max for 15000€
  35. C

Chevy Bolt is Ugly, Model 3 Still Poised to outsell if Attractively Designed

Model S is 2012 battery technology... I'm sure Model 3 will be even better in terms of density and efficiency. Maybe base Model 3 battery weights less than 350Kg.
  36. C

60KWh battery for the Bolt... ¿maybe to big for base model 3?

I've just read this article: Chevrolet Bolt EV Specs Revealed: 60 kWh, 0-60 In 7 Seconds And it seems that the Bolt has a 60KWh battery pack for "more than 200 miles"... but the Model S 60 with same energy capacity have 208 miles EPA ¿what's wrong here? ¿Much more efficient Tesla technology...
  37. C

Would you buy a Model 3 with no Battery?

And for me too! You can say a lot of advantages about a theorical battery lease but here in Europe we have battery lease in Renault and Nissan and it's ridiculous... You should pay more for the lease than the equivalent fuel cost of an ICE car. For example, for the Renault ZOE (a small car)...
  38. C

Tesla Says Model 3 Will Be On Sale 2017 Alongside Chevy Bolt

I think they are enough people to buy 300.000 Bolts and 500.000 Model 3 every year. The target is to sell EV's instead of ICE'd cars, I don't think this wil be a competition between GM and Tesla.
  39. C

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

This is an old render but... is great. This car with Model X nose... perfect for me. If EM reveals something like this in march... I'll make my reservation ASAP. If the car is something like a Chevy Bolt... I will save my money for a CPO Model S.

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

I live in south of Spain. Here it snow once every 50 years (not joking) and if the wheel covers are removable I will ask to discount the price of them of the car total price. I don't want wheel covers. I want a "normal" good looking car (and I'm sure most of people also want a normal good...

Norway... EV heaven. Sometimes I think car dealers and goverment hates EV here in Spain.

  43. C

Would you buy a Model 3 with no Battery?

Here in Europe we have an automaker who dosen't allow you to buy the car battery, Renault. You pay for the car and you must rent the battery, there is no another option. You simply can't buy the complete car. The result is a really good product (Renault Zoe, a really good city EV) that nobody...

    Specuwaiting.....

Battery size is not the problem. Model 3 will be only 20% smaller than model S. We are talking about around 4,7m long (BMW 3-series size more or less), there is only 10" less lenght. Considering only using 20700 cells instead 18650 you have same energy storage with 30% less cells... I don't...
  45. C

    Specuwaiting.....

I think model 3 will have (more or less) the same battery pack voltage than model S for supercharger compability. And I also think that the smaller battery version (basic 35000$ or dual drive ¿40000$?) will have similar performance due to the maximum output power available from the battery...

Aluminum or Steel body for Model 3

I hope that but is very doubtful. I've read an article yesterday about a 40% price rising from Saudi Arabia in the next months. Time will tell. Edit: Agence France-Presse on Twitter:
  47. C

    Time to go Frunkless?

Maybe if the car need less number of battery cells (due to new cell type and new arquitechture) they can free space in the foot area and make model 3 even lower than model S. In this case the car will have same interior height with less exterior height and lower frontal surface --> less air...
  48. C

    Specuwaiting.....

I know you have cheap fuel and powerful cars in America, but here in Europe the base Model 3 equivalent is a 1.8/2.0 four cilinder diesel with less than 200hp... 0-60 in these cars is about 8-10 seconds. If the base model 3 can do 0-60 in 6 seconds it will be absolutely great here. Vast majority...
  49. C

Aluminum or Steel body for Model 3

Yes, but you have to consider the 7-10 year lifetime of the car. Maybe energy is cheap now, but Tesla can choose to make the model 3 from aluminium now and be in trouble in 2-3 yers due to increased costs (Oil will be back in more than 100$/barrel soon)
  50. C

Do You Want Basic, Ludicrous Or Something In Between

It easier than you think. You start designing the base 35000$ model. Add 20% more battery cells.... easy Add more powerfull motor... easy (from a model s) Add exclusive paint and wheels (can't be easier) Add leather, electric seats... easy(ask the seats supplier) Add led lights, park sensor...
