TSportline added their logo to all their wheels - voice your disappointment!

Thanks for sharing, yeah the logo isn't too bad, especially on the black (I ordered matte black). Prefer without but might not be a dealbreaker for me.

I have some of the 18” Arachnids on order, but might cancel. Is TSportline still badging their wheels?

WARNING: Liberty Mutual, Tesla's "partner," is terrible, denied part of my claim

I know all claims are different and vary widely from state to state, but here's what happened to me. I switched to Liberty Mutual within the past year after Tesla referred me there, which is why this situation is so ridiculous. Tesla's own "partner" nitpicked me on the specialty rate for...

    Limiting output at ~60% charge?

Yeah it was a nice day outside that day, so around 70. I think I was driving home from lunch or something and the car had been outside for a while.

    Limiting output at ~60% charge?

This has happened a few times recently, but my 2014 S60 has been limiting the power output even when I have plenty of battery left, and I don't understand why. I know the car will automatically limit power output under certain circumstances (low charge to preserve range, extreme temperatures to...

Possible to disable auto presenting doors altogether?

I could have sworn that it was possible to disable the auto presenting completely. When I turn the setting to "off" the door handles still extend/retract, just not automatically when I approach the car. One of mine failed a few weeks ago, and another is now making a faint grinding noise, so I...

3rd party install RFS (Rear Facing Seats)

FWIW an extra data point, I had my Tesla SC retrofit our RFS shortly after I took delivery of our CPO in 2016. Total cost was $3150, and this was before they increased the RFS price from $3k to $4k for new orders. My car actually already had the bumper reinforcement, which saved them from having...

Model S 60 and 60D to be removed

I also don't believe the "most people upgrade anyway" statement. Seems the opposite is true. Here's Elon on the Aug 2016 call talking about the margin impact of 60s that don't upgrade. So by eliminating the software-limited 60, can push margins from 15-20% to 20-25%.

Motley Fool story - Tesla Replacement Part Delays

Well, the car was just days away from completion anyway when I published my original Motley Fool article, so I don't think Tesla has done much else following me publicizing it, other than investigating and blaming the shop.

Motley Fool story - Tesla Replacement Part Delays

Author of the MF article here, glad that I can help raise awareness of an important customer pain point that Tesla needs to address. These stories too often only circulate on forums among enthusiasts and get little to no mainstream coverage, so hopefully by publicizing my experience and getting...

Repair Woes - 3 months and counting

I'm in a similar, slightly-worse boat. My wife got rear ended in our S in mid-July, ironically while I was in CA at the Tesla factory (I worked for Tesla at the time). My local Tesla-certified body shop has also been unable to begin work on the repairs (damage was actually less than yours, it...

Tesla included in new Takata airbag recall

Correct, it takes many years under very specific environmental conditions to degrade, so it's not an immediate concern, but all Tesla owners should be aware of this and check their VINs once an official recall is issued.

    Tesla CPO value?

FWIW, when I took delivery of my CPO in Jan, I asked if it had the 1st or 2nd gen handles, and they said they replaced with 2nd gen as part of CPO process. There's a way to verify which gen you have by if the handle sits flush when the door is closed. I can't find the link now, but basically 1st...

Alliant credit union and gap insurance

I got the $400 gap option on my CPO S for my Alliant loan, which was well under $100k. It also comes with deductible reimbursement (up to $500), so it pays for itself if you file just a single insurance claim. I believe the reimbursement can even be used on a claim for any car on your insurance...

The Use by Other EVs of Tesla Supercharges?

I'm not an expert, but my understanding is that most other EVs also can't technically handle the charge. Most cars top out with DC fast charging around 50 kW, while Supercharging is 120kW.

    windshield replacement

Just about $500 (Aurora CO). I actually had to stop by the Tesla SC later (for unrelated reason) and asked them about the part, and they said that Safelite often gets the windshield directly from them anyway, so it might even be the same supplier. The windshield says Pilkington on it, no Tesla...

    windshield replacement

Just had mine replaced by Safelite in Aurora, CO. So far, looks like it was a good installation with good fit. My S is pre-AP so no cameras/sensors to recalibrate or whatever. Not an OEM part but seems fine.

    FWD out-of-warranty repair cost?

Serious question: Factory tour with M3 waiting list

Doesn't hurt to ask. I know X reservation holders that don't currently own an S can get one. Obvs there's a lot less of them and they've put down a lot more money for a much more expensive car, but you should just shoot them an email to ask: [email protected]

    Model 3 Supercharging Capable Discussion

6 seat versus 7 seat - need HELP please

I attended a Meet X event as press and checked out both 6 and 7 configurations. I personally think 6 is the way to go. The middle seat in the second row for 7-seater significantly obstructs the view from the rear view mirror, and does close off the 3rd row and makes it seem isolated. The...

Hi all, I'm the author of some of the Motley Fool articles (TMFNewCow). Why does there seem to be so many salvaged cars?

I feel like I see a fair amount of salvaged cars being scrapped and sold by parts, like this one for example. Why is that? Is it because repair costs are relatively high and insurance companies are more likely to declare it totaled or something? One of my fears is getting into some type of...

Rusting of the rear lift gate attachment points

This thread just called attention to mine, which also appear very rusted. Seems a few other people mentioned Jersey or that area. I'll have my...

Technical question about Tesla app and keyless driving

Pretty sure I know the answer but figured I'd ask if anyone knows for sure. Like if there's no cellular signal, will it work if the phone is close, either...

    Tesla Center Console Changes/Build Quality

I recently got my S console installed, and days later attended a Meet X event so was able to compare. Summon failed and hit my garage.

I was looking at an AP S today and took note of the sensor locations. They're the small circular spots along the bumpers, so they do appear to be kind of low. Not sure if they can see above their location, or what their field of view is though.

Got 3rd row rear-facing seats retrofit in my CPO S60 today

This is also another area where it's not very clear. From my understanding, there needs to be a crossbeam to reinforce the bumper in order to have RFS, and some cars have this and others do not. If it is not already installed, it must be installed. My car apparently already had it so they did...

Got 3rd row rear-facing seats retrofit in my CPO S60 today

Tesla is really bad about being consistent on this. Design studio says must be factory installed, but I read here on TMC about others having it done. Summon failed and hit my garage.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or acknowledged, but another data point to consider.
