Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So far, every analysis assumes EM pays Income Tax in Cali. It seems to me that's primary residence is now in Texas with a significantly lower rate. Can someone knowledgeable comment on that. THX

    Supercharger - Montgomery, AL

I'm in New Orleans and will drive back to Atlanta tomorrow. This SC would be a huge help. I could avoid Greenville and Auburn, two of my least favorite SC's. I checked in my car this morning and Montgomery was shown with 12 stations, 1 in use and 11 available. Before I take a chance and skip...

I'm financially comfortable and in my seventies. TESLA has helped a lot, but we would still be OK with out it. It's less than 25% of my portfolio, and I sleep well. My recommendation for obtaining wealth has always been to live well below your means, and to invest the reminder. Whenever I...

We're talking about solar at Superchargers. Limited space and need for significant storage is a challenge at most SC locations. What no one is talking about, and what I cannot understand, is why there are not solar panels covering the Gigafactories. There is also plenty of land for storage...

My 2016 MS 90D gives an EPA range of about 265 miles at 100%, down from 285 when new, 5+ years ago. I can comfortably go 220 miles at 80 MPH from a full charge and still arrive with 10% charge left. Always get a little less than displayed range, but not significantly. I don't understand why...

Dit anyone else notice how many casting were spread around the site? There are stacks near the press and more in an adjoining lot. Also look at 2:30+ and it looks like a lot more stacked along the fence by the rail lines. Why would they produce hundreds/thousands(?) more than they need in...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I had the same car but bought it new. Loved it. Same paint issue. Broke down and had it repainted, but with a clear coat and it lasted well.

I always thought the biggest benefit from radar was the ability to measure relative speed at a distance, say 50-300 yards. If you don't think radar is better at that task, just ask the officer next time you get pulled over for speeding, I know my binocular vision is challenged estimating...

Are S&P funds allowed to loan shares to shorts? If so, doesn't that add some shares back into the float and reduce the impact of the demand from inclusion. Not a finance person, just a dumb engineer.

The nerd in me want the phrase to be: "Pulling on All Poles" An electric motor has multiple poles which are pulled by magnetic forces. Accurate phrase, but not familiar enough to catch on with the general public.

My understanding was that the cap gain holiday was only for stock bought during the "holiday". Gains would not be taxed when they are sold in the future. Existing shares owned would be taxed as now.

230v outlets should be rated for at least 30A with a 40A breaker (old dryer connections). Newer ones with a NEMA 14-50 outlet should have a 50A breaker and be able to charge at 40A. Full charge time should not be more than 8-10 hours max.

Wow! Finally some movement. I was getting tired of looking at parked heavy equipment. Do we know whether they will be allowed to use pile foundations? At one point someone said that piles were not allowed because of the water table/supply, but it looks like thy're doing a static pile test.

Tunneling in bedrock is preferable. The tunnel is self-supporting, less ground water issues, less need for lining with concrete, etc.

Is there a chance of spreading the virus at Fremont? Of course there is. But I think that the procedures keep that possibility low. I went to the grocery today. Some people without masks. Some with masks on, but not covering their noses. Social distancing a joke. I would feel 100x safer in...

I can't help thinking about the post from the new contributor that had gone into futures for the first time and was looking at a margin call on Monday. I hoping that the run-up yesterday removed the call and that he was able the de-leverage his position. Does anyone know what happened?

Pickups were exempted because then speaker of the house, Tom Murphy, lived in west Georgia and daily drove a PU to the capital in Atlanta. He hated seat-belts for a bunch of reasons, but the major one was he did not want the government, state or federal, telling him what to do. He was...

I guess I didn't read anything in that statement that would indicate using rail to supply the east coast. Rail was discussed on this forum in the past and the consensus was that it was too slow and unreliable. That was maybe in the context of shipping to the east coast to load ships and avoid...

If Ford is serious, and let's assume that they are, it would be easy to require each dealership to add a fast charging station. Hell, there's a Ford dealership in almost every town.
