    2018.10.5 Arrived

Very happy with this update! Solves my two main issues: crappy rear camera, and car constantly unlocking/waking up when I sit in my office (which is next to the garage). The rear camera is no longer stretched out vertically, so the quality appears to be much better (due to lack of stretching...

    Model 3's Ride Quality

UPDATE: Tesla executive escalation responded to me indicating he's not sure why the system doesn't reflect the reality of my car, but they are going to proceed with the suspension swap. A few hours later, I received a call from the tech at Buena Park that has been working on the car, and it...

    Model 3's Ride Quality

Is there some magical incantation required to get the service center to tap into this resolution? Anyone know the bulletin identifier they'd need to look up to get approval to do this?

    Model 3's Ride Quality

Here are photos I snapped of my 2017 Model 3. I took the car in because the power steering totally gave out (2nd trip into the service center in the first few weeks of ownership). I escalated this to Tesla, and also said I've got really rough ride and I'd read that Tesla is doing something...

    Model 3 Bluetooth Proximity?

Which threads were discussing those noises, I'd be interested to see them. It happens so much during the day I assumed it was related to my proximity.

Model 3 annoying beeping sounds like 'morse code'

Interesting, I came in here for the noise discussion, but you seem to have received the same exact message I did after the latest update.

    Model 3 Bluetooth Proximity?

I hope a coming update fixes what seems to be an overly sensitive bluetooth phone key. I'm in my home office next to the garage. My desk, if measured through the wall, is about 15 feet from the car. I've turned off "walk up unlock" and yet I still hear the car waking up over a dozen times a day...

Quick impression of Model 3 after 2 weeks

In my opinion there are enough sensors and cameras on the Teslas that they should be doing a better job with the general safety of the vehicle and the warning system. I bought a Model X (my vin was in the 900 range). Overall I loved the car, but it had many problems and Tesla ultimately bought...

Quick impression of Model 3 after 2 weeks

What I will say is the resolution of the camera is not high enough for the large area of screen they are currently stretching it to fill. Blocky, chunky pixelated look to it, the quality of the video is nowhere near what I had in my previous X or in the Pacifica we have now. If they want a...

Quick impression of Model 3 after 2 weeks

Totally agree, I am shocked that the car shipped with this poor quality of a camera. There are some things they can do in software, but the camera resolution is pretty obviously terrible. It's especially surprising given the importance of the camera system for FSD. I wonder what the quality is...

    Car seat details

@PaulJB I will try to do this this weekend. I just bought a "bubble butt" booster seat and wanted to see if I could get that in between them this weekend, so this next time around I'll try just the belts.

High Frequency Receiver? Service needed twice within first 2 weeks

Oh, and here is the result from the initial service call after being towed in: Concern: Customer: Customer states his vehicle stopped while driving and will now not shift out of park Corrections: Battery - Auxiliary - 12V Replaced 12v battery due to being depleted. Verified vehicle is...

High Frequency Receiver? Service needed twice within first 2 weeks

Last week, after having my model 3 (vin 2629) for only a few days and driving 300 miles, it inexplicably shutdown on the road with errors: Car Needs Service Unable to Drive and Cannot Maintain 12V Battery Power Car May Not Drive or May Unexpectedly Shut Down I ended up having to have it...

    Car seat details

Here are photos showing measurement between two front-facing Diono Radian RXT carseats, which are quite narrow car seats. Also a shot of the leg room (ample). I'd love to fit some sort of booster seat in between those two, but don't think it's feasible at the moment. My oldest is small and can...

Model S in Body Shop for 3 Months?!

My dad's Model S was in an accident (both air bags deployed, everyone safe) several months ago. It's been in the (Tesla-approved) body shop for at least 3 months now. They are finally (supposedly) receiving 100% of parts they've been waiting for. His insurance covered a rental car for 30 days...

Anyone using 3 car seats (Diono RadianRXTs?)

Interesting... In all my time complaining to Tesla about Leg Crushing Mode, they never mentioned that the seatbelt could act as a signal that there is someone back there. Of course my X just went to the shop for the umpteenth time for FWD issues, so I can't test the theory out yet. To answer...

    Trak 4x4 Snow Chains

Guess I'll be OK, just noticed this section in the Model X manual:

    Trak 4x4 Snow Chains

One thing that's a little concerning on the Maggi LT51 box is that the supported tire size chart doesn't actually show my size tires. I purchased standard 20" wheels from Tesla, they are 275/45-20. Hopefully these really are the same exact model Tesla is selling. :)

    Trak 4x4 Snow Chains

@carlshome That would be much appreciated! I just purchased the Maggi LT51s from Quality Chain Corp after being unable to get them from Tesla, eBay or anywhere else: LT51 - Quick Trak Light Truck | Quality Chain Corp Although they are now in stock at Tesla's store, you can save about $100 over...

StowAway Max rear luggage carrier - my experience

I have it off now, and didn't think to take a photo without the box attached. The box attaches to the swing out bar with 4 nuts/bolts. Because the bar is so heavy, I decided to detach the box from it when storing it. You can also get different accessories to attach to the swing out bar, e.g. I...

StowAway Max rear luggage carrier - my experience

I got it and planned to use it (since I haven't mounted my front license plate I was just going to use that ;-) but then totally forgot! While parked at a restaurant, a police car rolled up and slowed down. I thought he was going to ask me where my license plate was, but instead he just said...

    Model X Cargo Carrier

With the accessory hitch, I think it's around 120lb. But if you have the full tow hitch, the tongue weight max is listed as 500lb for 20" tires and 350lb for 22".

StowAway Max rear luggage carrier - my experience

In terms of impact on range, it's hard for me to say for sure, because I've never taken the X on that route before, and there were a lot of variables that likely also played into my range during the trip: temperatures of 100º-110º on the drive through the desert, heavy side-to-side wind, etc. I...

StowAway Max rear luggage carrier - my experience

I bought the StowAway MAX Cargo Carrier ($760) for my X to go on a road trip from the LA area to the Colorado river in Laughlin, recently. I was a little worried about how it would work out, so I thought I'd share my experience here (which was good). It holds 16 cu. ft. andup to 200 lb of...

Anyone using 3 car seats (Diono RadianRXTs?)

We are strongly considering buying 3 Diono RadianRXT car seats, as we've been doing some research and they seem most likely to fit in the 2nd row and have good reviews in general. Anyone have this configuration working in the 2nd row? Or with any other seats? The other headache we have is...

Model X in showrooms beginning of January

I was just invited to build my model X yesterday (reservation # in the 9600s), and of course I'd like to see the car in person before buying, so I called the number given in the email to ask about this. Was told by the rep there's no hurry on completing my reservation, I was not at any risk of...
